Br Nyuh Kuning is one of the cleanest and most civically active communities in the Ubud area, with regular community clean ups and other acitivites. Friendly, quiet neighborhood with beautiful ravine views of the river, the Monkey Forest a mere 10 minutes walk away
Hire cars with and without drivers can be arranged easily, as well as moto scooters. Ubud is within an easy 15 minute bicycle ride away.
We absolutely loved staying here - what a treat! The room was exactly as the photos showed but the beautiful (and enormous) grounds were a big surprise. The location is a handy scooter ride to central Ubud, in a quiet spot; there are a few restaurants within walking distance too though we didn't explore the immediate area so extensively. We visited in the rainy season - and it does rain, and not necessarily just at night, but it didn't interfere with our days much at all so don't be put off as I guess you get a much quieter view of Ubud thanks to it being low season!
Our room was closest to the kitchen so not the most private if you are sitting on the terrace, but the grounds are extensive and very peaceful, and the staff are amazing - helpful and incredibly friendly. We arranged airport pickup, a few taxis, scooter hire, and had recommendations for a day-trip and they even helped us organise a stay away from Ubud; nothing was too much trouble. We loved it so much that we came back and stayed in the stunning Nakula suite for our last 2 days - wow! even more amazing, with access to a 2nd infinity pool, a huge living space, open air bathroom and very private. We are working out how and when we can be back! Thanks so much to Komang and his lovely team for a wonderful stay.
One of the best places we have ever visited! All suites are part of an amazing tropical garden with different pools were you can chill after a visit to ubud. The accomodation is close to the city centre of ubud (5 min by motorbike/15 min by foot).
It realy is a peacefull and silent place were you can chill at the pool or meditate at the river. The people are very kind and helpfull. They will help you with everything and bring you a lovely breakfast every day with a great smile.
We enjoyed this place so much that we booked extra nights at the end of our holiday.
Great stay! Rooms are very nicely decorated in a rustic beautiful style. Swimming pool is a perfect size for some exercise. Staff is the best!! All smiley and helpful.
It is not far from the centre of Ubud. However, if you don't have transport then taxis add costs to your stay.

This is the home of Dr Steve Wignall. As Steve travels constantly, he has enlisted his old friend, Ubud-based Indonesian photographer Rio Helmi ((website hidden)) to help out as your co-host, along with Komang and Kadek.
Komang and Kadek are from Ubud, and Rio has lived here nearly 40 years and has extensive knowledge of Bali having published numerous illustrated books on the island.
Steve is currently an advisor to the Clinton Health Access initiative, and is one of the leading experts on HIV in Indonesia who has been working on prevention and so forth here for decades. After graduating in the 60s and a 21 year stint as a US Navy doctor he began work in Indonesia. His experience and close relationship to Indonesia, from Papua to Sumatra, is reflected in his eclectic home set in extensive, rambling gardens featuring a 25 meter lap pool, plunge pools, a spa overlooking the river, garden pavilions, one of which is often used for Yoga retreats and other gatherings.
A sanctuary of peace and abundant natural beauty. There are nine unique suites on this beautiful garden estate which runs along a lush river valley/ravine, with a 25 meter lap pool and two shared pavilions. in Nyuhkuning, one of the most interesting hamlets in Ubud, noted for it's community civic awareness. It is home to Bumi Sehat Foundation run by famed midwife Robin Lim (CNN hero of the year) and also to the Bali Peduli foundation which focuses on HIV prevention, detection and friendly and accessible treatment. There are numerous small cafes and restaurants on the small road leading to Ubud's popular Monkey Forest which is a pleasant stroll away from the estate.
Please note that the entire estate is a no smoking area!
