Staying at Elisa's place was really nice. The flat is in the city center, and is close to a lot of places. I would highly recommand it if you are 3 or 4 people
The house is very well located, close to the main museums and to the Atocha railway station which is the fastest connection to Barajas with the C1 train departing every 15-20 minutes from/to the airport. Elisa was very kind with us, she promptly replied to all our requests trying always to be helpful. Nevertheless, we can't say we were fully satisfied with the accommodation which didn't meet our expectations. First of all, when we arrived at 11.00 pm. (and payed 30 euros for late check-in) the heating was off and the apartment was very cold and humid. We had to wait 2/3 hours before the temperature raised and the rooms were comfortable. Besides there was this nasty, moldy smell that permeates the house, then we experienced serious problems with wifi, that hasn't been working since the second day when Elisa changed the mobile device but still the signal was quite weak and flaky. The apartment is quite comfortable but has very basic furnishing, especially the kitchen should be improved with more equipment. At the very end, our stay was ok but we are not planning to come back there in the future. I'll suggest this solution if you don't have big expectations and look for a basic, convenient, cheap accommodation in the city centre.
The best thing about this apartment was the location, which was close to the best museums and allowed us to walk to them, as well as the interesting surrounding areas, alleyways, points of historical interest, etc. The elevator also was helpful, since we had my 87-year-old mother with us. But the inside of the apartment needs some work. I don't know how long it's been since Elisa has personally visited it (since she seems to let out a lot of apts), but it needs some attention. For example, the showers don't really work so well because the hook that holds the water fixture is broken in both bathrooms, so you have to hold the showerhead in your hand (though it did have very hot water, which was nice). That was not so easy to do for my 87-year-old mother. Other things that need attention, some of them fairly easy to correct and others that might require more attention:
1) more trash baskets around the apartment. At least one in each room, including the bathrooms. It was very inconvenient to have to use our own plastic bags in various rooms because there was a lack of trash baskets.
2) more utensils in the kitchen. The equipment in the kitchen was pretty sparse
3) Cover the ceiling light in the smaller bedroom. The ceiling light has a high intensity light bulb in it, with no cover, and when a person is in the room or laying in bed and looking up at the light, it hurts the eyes
4) the internet didn't work for the first 24 hours, even though the greeter gave me passwords and such. But the next day someone showed up, and it turns out there was no modem there! Once they installed it, it worked fine.
Here are some other problems that need attention:
5) as I mentioned above, in both bathrooms the hook that holds the showerhead is broken. So you have to hold the showerhead in your hand.
8) in the big bedroom, both of the beds are extremely uncomfortable. I am used to sleeping on a lot of different types of beds, but these two are about the most uncomfortable I have ever seen. The only people that could probably sleep on them are children, who generally don't notice such things, or an adult who is too drunk to notice. In the second bedroom, the mattress was fine, and big enough for two people
It's a shame, because the place is really quite nice in other ways. We enjoyed the French-type windows opening to the street, which streams in lots of light. And the location is good, as I mentioned already. But until the problems above are addressed, I would not give a highly favorable recommendation to this apartment. On the other hand, if these issues won't bother you, it's a good enough place with excellent location.
Amplio, bien situado, acogedor y tranquilo. Repetiremos en nuestra próxima visita a Madrid.
Great location!! Absolutely loved the apartment! Only complaint is that the living room lacks natural light.
The apartment was convenient to shops, restaurants, and markets. Another couple stayed there with us and there was plenty of room for all since there were two bedrooms and two bathrooms and enough living space to accommodate four adults. The courtyard is pleasant and the street noise is very minimal, a plus for Madrid due to late-night diners. This is an inexpensive and safe place for travelers who want to walk to museums (the Reina Sofia is around the corner and the Prado three blocks away) and restaurants (the Plaza Mayor and Calle Cava Baja are a 15-minute stroll) and avoid more expensive hotels. The train station is an easy walk, too, for those who are traveling to other cities.

Un piso muy bien ubicado en el centro de Madrid, muy bien conectado a las líneas de metro y las principales atracciones de la ciudad. El piso es muy acogedor y bien equipado, totalmente recomendable.
Unfortunately we did not have the pleasure to meet Elisa, but her collegue Anna received us perfectly, quite relaxed. The apartement is very well situated for the museums and the historical places, it is very quiet and as such cosy with a certain charme.Beds are comfortable, clean towels and laundry was there in sufficient quantity. As some of the previous guests we would say that some of the sanitary and kitchen equipement needs refreshing.
As a whole we had a very good time in an unforuntely rainy Madrid, where the apartement was, however, a good place to retire. Peter and Denise, May 2013
Ana (works with/for Elisa) is nice and helpful. Elisa is very accomodating and reasonable.
The apartament is in dire need of some TLC. It shows its age. Maybe I'm not the type of person to use AirBnb but i thought the apartment doesn't meet basic requirements to be used as a rental by someone that pays big bucks for it.
The location is good (if you hit the museums) although there are other areas in Madrid that might be more appealing, depending on what you want to do while in the city.
Overall i was a bit dissapointed. Maybe it is me, but an apartment with water damage on the ceiling, with water damage on one wall, with persistent moldy smell, with bathrooms that do not function too well (toilets) and a kitchen that is not well equipped is not my first choice. Overall the apartment needs significant reno work.
Again, maybe I am not the typical user of this service (it was my first time renting through AirBnb - might be last as well)
