Thank you so much for having us the location is beautiful and private and has good vibes. We had a lot of fun staying there though it's not easy to find. All in all a nice quiet place in the jungle
Perfect stay at the Wild Side! Lara and Eric are thoughtful and helpful hosts, and the bungalows are charming, clean, and well-appointed. The Wild Side is really well-located, near town but out of town and a bike ride away from anywhere you'd want to visit. The bungalows are in the jungle, with beautiful wild life, geckos, birds, and the sound of waves. Just a short walk away from the beach. Awesome place, would definitely stay again!
Our weekend getaway to Costa Rica was perfect thanks to our stay at Casa Azul. Lara & Eric were amazing hosts!! Incredibly friendly, helpful and very responsive. They checked in on us every now and then to make sure we had everything we needed and they helped us figure out the best transportation options and beaches to visit. The proximity to town was perfect, very accessible by bike, which we rented from them. The house and entire property was clean, modern and well maintained. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to other Airbnb-ers looking for a beautiful rainforest experience.
Thank you so much for a great little home while I was exploring puerto viejo. Your property is so special and a lovely little slice of heaven tucked in the jungle. Although the water in the shower was colder than the shower by the drive, i did not hesitate to jump in the ocean to rid myself of the sweaty BO i accumulated. The pleasure of traveling alone. Thank you both Lara and Eric. You were wonderful!!
Our stay at the Wild Side was great. Although we never met her in person, Lara was very sweet and helpful through out our email exchanges. The house was nice and matched the description well. There was a neat outdoor shower that I really loved to used when we got back from the beach and didn't want to get sand in the house. The house in literally in the jungle so it was great to see the vegetation and hear the animals. Not sure if it was the time of year or if it's notmrmally always like this but it was a little hot. We had a fan but just be prepared for the heat! Another recommendation would be to arrive during the day (when there's daylight because the sun sets at 5:45) and take a good look at the directions before arriving. We got there when it was dark and we had a hard time finding the place. my last recommendation would be to make sure you rent a 4x4 suv if you are going to traveling around Costa Rica.
Oh Wild Side, how I wish I was still there! My sister and I stayed here and it was exactly what we expected. It's a great location tucked into the jungle but close enough to everything you might need. Lara and Eric were very helpful when we needed anything, responding exceptionally quickly. They were always close at hand but never in any way invading. The area is great, it's a sleepy surf town where you won't find any clocks, (so get a watch if you care about knowing the time which is basically the case everywhere in Costa Rica), the surf is always rushing and you feel peaceful and safe. Rent a bike, visit the jaguar rescue center, take a chocolate tour, go surfing or just lounge on the beach if it's not raining. There is a great place we hung out at called La Sula which is actually part of the hotel Le Cameleon across the road from it that's right on the beach that you can order drinks then hang out on their lounge chairs. Overall a great experience!

About the Host, Lara
My name is Lara and, together with my husband Eric, we have created The Wild Side. We wanted something different than what we normally find while travelling in Costa Rica. We wanted to offer an affordable stay, but it be at the same time elegant, simple, and, above all, clean. Our concept is geared toward single travellers or couples who want a quiet place to rest, a kitchen to prepare meals, and a base to enjoy what the area offers. We are very lucky to live in one of the most perfect locations along the coast. Our houses are literally minutes from unspoiled, empty beaches. Most people tell us that they see more animals in our own yard than in the national parks!
Originally I am from Savannah, Georgia, and Eric is from Sitges, Spain. We are both dedicated surfers and enjoy the peace of natural living.
I work as a hairstylist in my own jungle salon. Eric is an artist/woodworker..his handmade wooden toys can be found in specialty shops in Puerto Viejo.
