About this listing
Located on our 20 acre property in the heart of gorgeous wine country, this cozy, self-contained 5th wheel is the perfect way to go glamping (glamorous camping!). 1.5 miles from multiple wineries, and just 7 miles from Pismo beach and Lopez Lake.
Location, location, location. Less than 1.5 miles from Kynsi and Chamisal wineries and within 5 miles of nearly a dozen others. 7 miles from Pismo Beach, 6 miles from Lake Lopez and the excellent wilderness behind it. 8 miles into SLO and 5 miles to beautiful old town Arroyo Grande. Oh, and you can see acres and acres of rolling hills, vineyards, and mountains from the property.
A side note is that our house is located about 300-400 feet away from the trailer. The 5th wheel doesn't have any windows pointing towards the house though.
You will have access to everything in the 5th wheel. None of it is shared by us. It includes a full kitchen and bathroom (and fun integrated sound system). It is cozy, but works wonderfully. There is also a great picnic table setup outside to enjoy our perfect climate. There is limited wireless internet as well (only strong devices will pick it up from inside the 5th wheel), otherwise you may have to go lie on the trampoline and check your email (or don't!).
Interaction with Guests
I will be present and available most of the time if you need anything. I do leave many weekends for traveling!
Our property is located on one of the most beautiful roads in San Luis Obispo county, with minimum lot size being 10 acres (we have 20!), you will get some of the most serene sleep you could ever imagine.
We are 5 miles from the San Luis Obispo airport.
Other Things to Note
Small dogs and cats are welcome. We have one dog who has a big fenced in area, so he won't be running around, and two great cats. We also have a handful of ducks and chickens and we let our neighbors 28 year old horse, Concho hang out in our pastures. If you stay for more than 3 or 4 days, I will swing by to refill the water tank and deal with the trash and recycling, just as a heads up!
There is also a boogie board or two and an 8' foam top longboard if you ask me, to make a beach trip that much better!
No smoking is allowed in the trailer, outside is fine. Be respectful of us and our space and we will do the same. Please, please let me know if you need anything! Extra sheet, towels, etc!
Listing accurate and great views over the vineyards. Good halfway stop on drive SF- LA and we enjoyed staying away from the coast a bit. We had stayed in inns/ b&bs in the area the last time we did highway 1 and weren't keen to stay do that again so this was a fun bit of family glamping as a change from hotels. Blake was great at emailing and answering any questions and we really liked SLO. We had one glitch which was sorted no problem.
Unfortunately we did not meet Blake during our stay and we were disappointed to find the fridge full of,half eaten food and the caravan not as clean as we would, have liked. The location was fun and the caravan had ample accommodation.
!!!! BEWARE stay away!!! PLS READ THIS before booking this place!!! My experience with AirBnB has been pleasant until this trip. Usually I received a welcome reminder couple days or so prior to my/our arrival date to prepare me including instructions when I get there or who would meet/greet me/us from member hosting. This trip started wrong right in the beginning none of those welcome greetings from the host. He just mentioned he would be out of town and everything would be ready. I understood. When we get we were unsure if we were in the right place. Google just said we have arrived in our destination. There was a gate, OK got it. Got down and opened. Drove through the dirt road, saw the trailer assumed this was the place since its the only there. On the left, there was a main house; looked unkept and empty; Tried to knock no one was answering so we went back to the trailer. Again we could had been trespassing and shot dead so we just matched the picture from airbnb. This could have been easier with some instructions so we looked around hey what do we knew the door was unlocked with couple sheets of paper on the table; map of the area and how to operate the stove?!?? The place was centrally located but thats all I could say and rest of our trip fell apart. We got here Monday late afternoon and message Blake that we had arrived. By Tuesday night the water ran out after taking 2 persons shower and washing few dishes. Stated the trailer hold about 200 gallons of water. OK?!? what happened to that water someone forgot to fill the tank. Wednesday morning I message Blake to let him know the problem as he said to try him first if had problems so we did. Few hours later no reply so I called the number of his friend, no answer so I left a message also about the problem; after several attempts no answers. We changed our plan for that day because of the trouble. We were planning to left our dog in the trailer but it was hot that day so we tried to turning on the AC but after few seconds the whole power went out. It appeared that it had not been use lately and inspected; appeared the fuse may had been blown. So I tried to immediately contact Blake and his friend about the problem; again after several attempts no answer went to voice messages. I pissed and so as my GF we cancelled our plan for that day and we're staying here until Friday. Good thing I brought some camping lamp and equipment as I tend to anticipate some things would go wrong and it DID! There was a long water house that reach the camper so we improvised what we had; taking freezing water and fetch water using the garbage can for the night. Worse part was during night...
We had a fun and comfortable time in the 5th Wheel. The views were amazing and it was very peaceful and relaxing after our busy days exploring. We enjoyed looking out at the vineyards next door while the moon was rising, and made use of the fire pit to make s'mores. It was our first time sleeping in an RV and we enjoyed our stay!
Blake's place was great! We loved how peaceful it was. We didn't get to stay the entire booking due to an unexpected thunderstorm and power outage but Blake got back to us quickly and gave us totally reasonable compensation. We definitely plan on going back!
Blake's camper was a nice alternative to staying in SLO county for a wedding at the Madonna Inn. We were able to bring our dogs which was a relief since it was it was 4th of July weekend. It's tucked away in the hills but only a 15/20 min drive into SLO, Pismo beach, Grover beach. Blake gave us complete privacy but welcomed us and took care of us as soon as we needed it! Plus there is a trampoline! Thank you Blake for helping make our weekend great!
As advertised - cozy with great views and super convenient to the wineries we were visting. Blake was easy to communicate with - we had everything we needed.
About the Host, Blake
I am just putting the finishing touches on my Master's Thesis in Architecture at Cal Poly. An avid traveler and semi-professional cyclist, I love meeting other people, experiencing other cultures, and being on the go. When I travel, I am rarely confined to one place, I want to get out and experience the natural beauty of a place, and try the food and culture. Hence the good sleeping accommodations but not luxury home stay! I love the outdoors. Surfing, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, snorkeling, speardiving, snowboarding, camping, are all big passions of mine.
