Interaction with guests
Griffin's Modern Motel is a revolving door of creative minds. You will likely cross paths with a local artist. The hosts (Griffin, Jordan and Porter) are willing to help guide your Lexington experience as much as you'd like. Your private room is on the third floor where you are free to hang without interruption, but you will also have the opportunity to interact with some of Lexington's beloved musicians and artists of all kinds.
The apartment is also available for a private check in and out if a guest prefers.
The house is located in the historic and culturally important Northside of downtown Lexington. This income levels and people of this neighborhood are very mixed and diverse. If you're not comfortable in lower income neighborhoods we'd recommend staying elsewhere. It's very safe, but it's not for everybody. You might see some wild stuff.
The neighborhood itself is a mix of houses and buildings that have been fixed up and not so fixed up. There are some great parks close by, and restaurant and businesses starting to populate the businesses in the NoLi corridor. We're 8 blocks from downtown.
There's are great street party on Bryant Ave (1block away) called "The Night Market" that happens on the first Friday of months April through December. Also there is a great park just outback the that houses the Lexington Art League and more.
Lexington has lots of transportation options including Uber, Lyft, a free Trolley that runs nights/weekends, and LexTran (a bus stop is just out from of the GMM). There is a large parking lot out back that can accommodate any vehicle.
Bikes are available on request. The GMM is on the northside of town which close to the interstates (I-75, I-64, I-65) and has good connectivity to the other main roads in Lexington.
Other things to note
The first floor and outside of the building are still under construction.
The neighborhood is not for everybody, although it's for a lot of people. If you're not comfortable in a lower income neighborhood, then this is not the place for you. We're in a lower income neighborhood.
No Late Night Partying.
Please respect the building and other guest.
I'm from and involved in a never ending relationship with Lexington, KY. I'm hitched to a filmmaker, artist, and teacher named Sarah Wylie, and we two wild boys named Otis and Homer.
I'm a neighborhood man, and know everything about the NOLI Neighborhood, and a good deal about Lexington.
I like to explore cities, hang out, and tube on the Elkhorn creek. I love Kentucky, but I love other places too.
If it's got ice cream I want it.
