Hi! Please drop me a line with your dates and something about you before you request a booking. Casa Colina is a lovely single-family home in colonial San Miguel de Allende. Light, bright with original art. Housekeeping included, cook available.
Relax and enjoy your elegant home in San Miguel, a beautiful colonial city in the heart of Mexico. At Casa Colina (the House on the Hill), you will enjoy light and bright open areas, original artwork, a colonial ambiance and all the modern conveniences. Casa Colina has been featured on the popular House and Garden Tour to benefit the Biblioteca Publica.
Casa Colina is in the Ojo de Agua neighborhood of San Miguel, named for the ancient church and spring. Your old and new friends will clamor (trust us - we know!) to visit you at this lovely home, and both young and young-at-heart will ride the waterslide from the outdoor living area into the pool!
Enter the home through the walled garden and POOL area, and climb the gracious staircase to the airy outdoor living room with a fireplace. Stop, lounge, relax and enjoy the views, or enter the interior of the home. From the outdoor sala, you may enter the kitchen and dining area or the elegant living room featuring a hand-carved cantera fireplace with gas logs.
You are above the town, with the convenience of a garage, but still only a fifteen-minute downhill walk to Centro (less to the Instituto). When you want to go back home, grab a cab for $2, or get a workout and walk home. We also have a SCOOTER available for an additional fee.
At bedtime, you will enjoy the cool bedrooms on the first level. We built the bedrooms on the ground floor to enjoy both cool bedrooms and a better view from the main living areas. You will love the new, comfortable, American-sized Sealy mattresses and the Egyptian cotton sheets on the hand-crafted beds. Each bedroom boasts a unique boveda ceiling romantically lighted from the hand-cast mouldings.
The home has an open floor plan, but still is equipped with separate areas if groups of guests would like some privacy. Find your favorite spot on the rooftop terrace, the main living floor, the outdoor living room or in the cozy 'Mexican Modern' television room.
You can enjoy your holiday without everyday cares, as Amalia comes each day to clean the home and do the laundry. She is a VERY talented cook, and will also cook breakfast and the midday dinner for a small additional fee. Just let us know!
Let's take a moment to talk about WATER. First, there is the pool with its thrilling water slide. Second, all the water in the house is purified, so you can drink without worry. Third, the showers in the house are fabulous Rainfall showerheads, including the outdoor shower. You'll have the best showers of your life. Fourth, there is a Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.
The bedrooms comfortably sleep five, but trundle beds and a futon in the television room will accommodate occasional overnight guests. Cable television, cable internet, wifi plus a security system complete the modern conveniences in this colonial treasure.
We have a competent and friendly staff. Amalia, the maid, comes daily to keep the house sparkling. Fernando, our gardener, comes three times per week. Best of all Norma, our house manager, is authorized to solve any problems that may arise. You will be carefree, except for balancing all of the marvelous activities available in San Miguel de Allende.
I have a webpage you can visit for more information. Drop me a line and I'll send you the link.
Casa Colina boasts a solar-heated pool with a waterslide, rain showerheads and wifi. You will have maid service Monday-Friday, plus cooking for a moderate additional fee. The whole house will be yours.

We had a wonderful time in San Miguel. The house was lovely and offered many beautiful and comfortable places to unwind, relax, take in the view and enjoy the sunsets. We appreciated all the amenities and the esthetic choices in the design of the house. Even with our late evening arrival, Amalia, the house keeper had a delicious prearranged meal waiting for us when we arrived. Salvador, the driver you recommended, took me on a memorable trip to Guanajuato and served as guide to experience the cities many historical sites and museums. There were only three of us but the house could easily accommodate a family comfortably and was just a short walk to the town center.
I rented this house to spend Xmas with my family coming to visit me in Mexico. House is beautiful at a steep 10min walk from the city center. The help of the house Amalia is very nice and cooked us some delicious tamales and possole for Xmas eve which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is however worth noting that the house is rather close from the main road and one can notice the sound of the trucks breaking on the hill behind the road. The numerous dogs of the local neighbourgh did not go unoticed either. Overall, our stay was pleasant and enabled us to spend a lovely Xmas alltogether.
The pictures of Alex's house cannot begin to describe the experience of staying here. We were met by the lovely Amelia and Fernando (even though we were late), and they are just a telephone call away if you need anything. Alex has created a beautiful environment to stay in, and it contains everything that you could possibly think of. There are three bedrooms, and three relaxation áreas so that you can spend time with your friends or get away from them when you feel like it. The pool was fabulous and the slide great fun. I will definitely be back...
There was good communication prior to arrival. The homemaker Amalia was very welcoming. The spacious home was well decorated and well provided for (kitchen items etc) A lovely vista of San Miguel. The road to the villa is treacherous and must be taken slowly. There is considerable neighbourhood noise that one gets used to. We were able to walk to town 15 mins. and a good workout walking back up the hill. Loved the internet and TV reception and some English speaking channels. Overall a good experience. The pool was lovely.
We loved our trip to San Miguel Allende! The house was a wonderful retreat on the hill. It was even more lovely than the pictures. From the rain showers in the morning, to relaxing on the deck at sunset, everything was perfect. We chose to have breakfast at the house most mornings, and truly felt spoiled by the household staff. Alex was great! She introduced us to a great driver who took us on a tour all over the area, and had no problem picking us up at 4 a.m. for our early departure for the states. I wish we could have stayed longer...a week just wasn't enough!
I feel so lucky to have visited San Miguel and stayed in Alex's home. It is beautiful, the photo's which are lovely, still can't express how amazing her house is. It sits on top of a hill and has two balconies that allow for breathtaking views of San Miguel. Alex herself couldn't have been a more attentive or organized hostess, she helped co-ordinate a pick up from the airport and Margs were on deck the moment we walked in the door. :)
The house has, a pool, tv, wifi, and all the mod cons;the decor allows you to breath in the color and art of Mexico. I could not recommend it more highly, it would be an amazing place to go for a getaway with kids or friends, consider yourself lucky should you get a chance to visit.
Logistics and organization were outstanding. We found information and help about everything we needed, like when our car broke and the house manager sent immediately a mechanic to help on a Sunday. The overall experience of our stay was very good.
I fell in love with San Miguel de Allende on my first visit in 2000. I came with my very young children to learn Spanish, and we had a wonderful adventure.
Since then I have made it my second home. We love the climate, the beauty, the cultural offerings, the adventure and especially the warm and welcoming Mexican people.
