About This Listing
Villa Valentina - a spacious country house, with views over beautiful natural surroundings, offers a pleasant Mediterranean-style retreat on the green island of Corfu.
Built on top of a hill, away from the noise of traffic, Villa Valentina is surrounded only by olive and cypress trees.
The beautiful garden with lemon, orange, olive, magnolia and jacaranda trees and the surrounding lawns call out for a barefoot stroll.
Inside, the Villa Valentina is spacious (sleeps 6), bright and cheerful. The floors are made of stone, tiles and wood.
The House is in a very good condition and is maintained by us with great care.
Our guests stay in the main house, which is on three different levels, with private balconies and terrace, and direct access to the garden.
The main house is quite separate from the owners' apartment.
Interaction with Guests
Like the Greeks, we nurture a respectful relationship to our guests according to the motto: "live and let live".
Our guests can feel comfortable and know that they can come to us at any time with questions or requests.
My partner, Anikó, and I are always available in person, or by mobile phone.
Behind the house, the olive grove thins out to reveal a beautiful view to the East, looking over Gouvia Bay, Corfu town, and the strait between Corfu and Albania.
In the village of Kato Korakiana there are cafés, small supermarkets and taverns.
Gouvia Marina, Old Corfu Town, the hospital, and the airport are all within easy reach by car, moped, or by bus (from the village).
Dassia and Barbati beaches on the East coast are very close, and the West coast is only half an hour's drive away.
Rental cars, motorcycles, mopeds and scooters can be hired everywhere at reasonable prices.
There is ample private parking by the house.
The public bus network is well developed and reliable.
The transfer from the airport to Villa Valentina, or to our meeting place in the BLUE BAR at Gouvia Marina, takes about twenty minutes by taxi and costs around € 25.00.
Other Things to Note
Greece is blessed with a rich flora and fauna. The sea is very clean. The fresh fruits and vegetables are cheap, and locally grown food and drink is offered for a good price in the taverns.
Each month has its special charms. April and May are mild and colourful. The summer is dry and hot.
September has late-summer warmth, and even October is suitable for bathing and sailing.
We look forward to welcoming our guests with openness, a zest for life, and a love of nature.
Tom and Anikó.
We had the most wonderful stay at Villa Valentina in Corfu in July 2014! Our hosts Tom and Anikó (and their lovely dog Paula) picked us up at Gouvia Marina, after our week of sailing. They were very welcoming and guided us to their beautiful house located in the hills, away from the tourist packed beach towns, yet at a very good location to explore Corfu with a (rental) car. The house is new, very clean, tastefully decorated, well equipped and very spacious. The panoramic view on the hills covered with olive and cypress trees is truly magnificent! We, a Dutch family of 4, with 2 teenage daughters, stayed for a week at Villa Valentina and we loved it! This place is great to relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and use as a base for visiting some of the highlights of Corfu such as Old Corfu Town, Pantocrator, Palaiokastritsa, Angelokastro, Sidari and so on. If you are looking for a comfortable place with a personal touch to experience Corfu, away from the tourist crowds, we can highly recommend Villa Valentina!
About the Host, Tom
Myself (Tom) I have been living and working since 1998 in Corfu. Encouraged by my love of nature I have built Villa Valentina over the years, and created around it a beautiful and relaxing garden of 4,000 square metres. A place to enjoy a slower pace of life, amongst the peace of the olive groves, but still only a short drive from the sea - which is also very important to me.
