This is a brand new and very nice villa, located centrally in a quiet and green part of Ubud. It has a private pool, a beautiful garden, and gorgeous views from the veranda which make you feel that you live in paradise.
This part of Ubud is named Nyuh Kuning, which means Yellow coconutt - and yes, there are coconut palms and large trees everywhere. The area is a very popular part of Ubud and is central, quiet, and has lots of nice people in the neighborhood.
Cleaning and maintenance inside and out are included in the rent. This includes cleaning of the house and bathrooms once a day, 6 days a week, and regular maintenance of the pool and garden. Laundry services can be arranged upon request.
I personally receive three inexpensive and delicious meals delivered daily at no extra cost for delivery from D’Waroeng, an award winning eatery nearby...
It has a king-sized bed in each of the two large bedrooms so the house has plenty of room for four people.
There are no special restrictions. The guests can use everything in the house and in the garden freely.
I am available by mail, and possibly on (website hidden). The woman who manages the house (and owns the property with her husband) speaks fairly good English. A nice, sociable, and a local Dutchman who speaks several European languages is very happy to help new guests with additional questions when he is in the country. He has helped me a lot, and does it for free.
With no through traffic in front, it is a quiet place to live. The daily sounds from the birds, animals, and people living in the neighborhood give you the authentic feeling of being in paradise in Bali.
Ubud offers many activities and opportunities, and since it is located in the center of eastern Bali, most of the islands attractions (and the beach) are a short distance by car. I can refer you to affordable and good drivers that can take you anywhere on the island if you prefer not to drive.
It's about 20 min walk to the center of Ubud, or alternatively you can ride a bike, motorbike, or take the reasonably priced and convenient local taxi.
You can obtain basic groceries at the convenience store up the street. There are also several local and excellent eateries in the neighborhood.
The villa and entrance to the property has been professionally retrofit so that an active wheelchair user can manage on their own, however it’s unnoticeable if you don’t need it.
The villa is suitable for families with children,
however there is no Microwave or cot or high chairs for small children. Nor is it any security
Please contact us for further details if desired.
Since it is a big difference between guests, if they use AC or not and if they use both bedrooms, and also if they want Wi-fi, I charge the guests for this by the end of the stay. The fee is:
approx 500 000/month for one bedroom. A little more for two bedrooms, depending on AC usage. Wifi is 200 000/month if you want to use it. Next year this will be incorporated in the rent.
I love my villa and therefore I want my guests to treat the house with care as if it was their own. It is also very important to meet the local owners and treat the Balinese culture with courtesy and respect. Smoking is not allowed, but pets will be considered by arrangement for longer stays.
We had a great time in Villa Tokek Kecil.
The Villa has a modern balinese style, the rooms are large with two very big and comfortable beds. The villa was very clean and looked like the pictures. The kitchen is well equipped, the only thing missing is a toaster;-)
We rented a scooter during our stay in Ubud, so we only had a two minute ride to the center of Ubud. I can also highly recommend the driver of the villa. He is very nice and brought us safely to our next destination.
Overall we had a very nice stay.
We have just returned from 4 very enjoyable weeks at Villa Tokek Kecil. The instructions given by Lars for meeting the pick up at the airport went as promised and despite the sometimes manic driving in Bali, we felt very safe with Pak Ketut at the wheel. We also used Pak Ketut when a driver was needed for travel beyond Ubud.
We were met at the house by Rati and Sutama who made has feel welcome and who looked after us very well during our stay.
Initial concerns were promptly dealt with by Lars via email.
The house met our basic requirements however staying for a month, more comfortable seating for the evening would have been welcome. There is no lounge and the only seating, other than the dining chairs, are the rattan chairs from the bedrooms which we moved onto the verandah.
The kitchen has basic cooking facilities, a kettle and toaster would be a useful addition when making breakfast.
The surrounding area is very dark and a torch is recommended if venturing beyond the villa at night, the main road, leading to the restaurants in Nyuh Kuning, can be busy with no pavements or street lights.
European style supermarkets are available within a 30 minute walking time, however we used the local warungs to buy fruit, ice-cream, beers and snacks.
We did not feel the need to venture into Ubud in the evenings as eating places in Nyuh Kuning are varied, good and plentiful.
Behind the Bali Culture Centre you can find a walk through the rice fields, highly recommended, as is a visit to the BCC and Tek Tok dance.
Rather than drive or use a scooter during our stay, we walked to Ubud through the village of Nyuh Kuning, via the Monkey Forest, where we were soon recognised by many of the locals with whom we enjoyed passing the time of day.
We enjoyed our stay in Nyuh Kuning and would certainly consider a future stay at Tokek Kecil.
The whole experience was just amazing! From the very beginning till the end we were guided by Lars, and we felt in his villa like in our own home! We loved the house and the garden - it is made so nicely and cozy, it is beautiful, and beautifully taken care for! The villa is very clean, pleasant and comfortable. The swimming pool as well! Nothing is missing in the house, and it is just a small paradise for a couple like us (I can imagine it can be still comfortable for a small family, kids would love it too!!!). We had a beautiful time, and Lars from the beginning took a great care for us! He not only described everything in a great detail, gave us so much, answered all my questions, but also sent the taxi driver and was always ready to help and support. We would love to come back soon to the villa, as soon as we will get holidays again! Perfect host! Thank you Lars!!!
Good stay : the villa is really beautiful in a balineese style. Rooms are large with two big beds very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We discovered Bali with Ketut, a driver, for 500 000 rp/day.
The villa is little bit far for the center of ubud, so we used taxi (50 000 rp) or scooter.
The only negative thing was the noise coming from workers at night and sometimes smoke.
Finaly, we really enjoyed our stay.
We didn ´t met Lars but it was very easy to communicate by email and he was very helpful.
All the informations were clear.
Thank you very much for the use of your wonderful apartment, it was absolutely everything we could have wished for and totally look forward to returning in the future.
We had a fabulous time staying at Villa Tokek Kecil in Ubud. The facility and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very clean, strategically located, and love the swimming pool. AND very reasonable priced. We definitely will stay there again on our next visit. Thank you Lars.
We loved our stay at Villa tokek Kecil! The place was perfect for us as we travelled with 2 young kids aged 2 and 7months and also a nanny. The place was very well kept and tidy and the host Lars was very helpful in providing a handbook with all local contacts like drivers, food delivery etc. The place was only a 5minute taxi ride to the village of ubud and only cost 30,000Rp ($3) to get a taxi into town or we also rented scooters for 50,000rp ($5p/day). As our kids are so young they all slept in the big queen bed with the nanny. The outlook onto the garden and pool was lovely and peaceful. With young kids we were mindful we had to keep a constant eye on them near the pool as the pool did not have a pool fence (but that's rare to find in Bali). The villa has a kitchen but because eating out is so affordable we only really used the kitchen for breakfast meals. The wifi was also very helpful in planning our tours. A lovely peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle.
I am from Norway. I stay in Bali for 5,5 monhts every winter and have long term rented a villa in Ubud. I use a wheelchair and have therefore focused on getting the property suitable for people like me. I also work as a glass artist and as a IT-consultant.
