This is also an area well renowned for traditional music. Some famous fiddlers are living nearby and you will find regular traditional music sessions especially in the Glenties area.

Marion and Declan were amazing hosts. Their house looks like an island lost in the hills we were happy to join at the end of the day. His children are so lovely, Fiona a great violin player and Fergus who never surrenders when you begin to play with him. Ducks and dogs are in the same spirit. Breakfast is very good with all you can expect. We really appreciate to share a delicious dinner with them (first time we taste nettle pizza) and learn to make bread;)
This was one of our favorite Airbnb experiences! This is a beautiful family that lives in an absolutely stunning location. They welcomed us into their home with fresh homemade bread and tea and lovely conversation. We even got to take the "puppies" for a walk which we really enjoyed. The room was perfect with a private external bathroom. Breakfast was wonderful, we got to eat duck eggs for the first time, they were fantastic! We loved spending time with Marion, Declan, Fiona, and Fergus and would highly recommend this place to everybody!
This was absolutely the most wonderful airbnb experience we've had and quite possibly a highlight of our trip. Marion and her family welcomed us as family into their home. We enjoyed playing with their children and their dogs were up for a walk or a cuddle at any moment. The food was amazing, with the salad picked straight from their wild garden. The homemade bread and herbal tea were fantastic. We could go on and on all day about his wonderful our experience was. Highly recommend!
It's a really nice place, situated alone in middle of beautiful nature. We came to house late, about 10 pm. Marion and her husband was really nice, they offer us some tea and breed with butter. In the morning we get great homemade breakfast. Marion also made us some eggs with vegetables. It was really nice experience. We are just sorry that we where not possible to stay longer, because we travel throw whole Ireland.
Go and visit this lovely family! We loved the way they take care of you! They will welcome you into there family and will cook the best meals! We had our best breakfast in Ireland here! We loved the way they live life and loved the beautiful walks they recommended. This morning we took there two dogs up the mountain. And they showed is the way running in front of us! We will deff come back again and will bring the sun with us and climb the mountain again! Thanks for all the hospitality! Nathan & Anna
We had such a wonderful time with the Gavin family... We left this morning and we already know that it will be difficult to find hosts as welcoming, generous and great as Marion, Declan, their beautiful children and their lovely animals...
The house is like a lost paradise in the forest; the landscape is amazing: it is definitely the place to rest in the surroudings and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
In addition to that, Marion & Declan are wonderful cooks (great homemade bread/delicious vegetarian dishes/unforgettable homemade tea...)and all the most wonderful human beings who like to share a night or two with their guests playing music.
We definitely highly recommend the place...

About the Host, Marion
Hello, we are a family of 4: Declan, Marion with our two children.
We loved our first experiences as Airbnb hosts with our B&B. We met so many wonderful people and it as was a joy and pleasure to invite each one of them to our home, to get to know them and to make them feel welcome. That's what we want to continue to do.
Right now we offer two listings: For the first time our recently restored Gypsy wagon and our B&B private room.
We have often volunteers from all corners of the world staying with us in our home to help with different projects and in the garden. Our very next project will be to convert an outhouse into a small, cosy hostel.
We all love and often play Irish traditional music together. I love and write poetry (one book published in Germany), I'm also a herbalist and a very keen gardener. Declan and I visited this area some years ago and fell straight in love with the nature, culture and people here. And now we want to share this beautiful experience with you!
Between Lough Finn and our house you'll find this beautiful lake steeped in Irish myth's (find the stone monument passing by) - we can tell you the story!
Aghla's little "brother". A hill worth climbing and taking in the beautiful views... and all in walking distance from our house.
The Railway Inn. Pub overlooking Lough Finn. Stop for a pint or a game of pool. You can also purchase the fishing license for Lough Finn here. The very rare Arctic Chart is just one of it's fishes
Follow the way from our house to the top of this astonishing mountain. There are some lovely lakes on the top, and the view is - well experience it yourself!
Lovely old restored train. Enter and step back in time to travel along the most beautiful setting, lake Lough Finn with Aghla mountain over-towering it. Open in the holiday season.
The lake with the shortest name in Europe in the heart of the Blustacks and in walking distance from our house and the Glen tavern.
Tiny village overlooking the Blue Stack hills on route between the Glen tavern, Lough Ea and a ghost house (we can tell you all about it!).
Follow the "yellow man" from Drumnaha/Fintown to Doochary and you will enjoy one of the nicest walks! We also call it "the honeymoon way" (-:
The Glen Tavern. Traditional Pub between our house and Glenties. Renowned for it's traditional sessions and festivals. If you look for a long night with good music and craig we recommend!
Great area for hiking. Wild, beautiful, lonely. There seems to be always a blue hue around the hills, so the name seems just right. There is still an airplane wreck from world war II on of these hills
The salmon leap.
A special little place if you want to watch the salmon leaping out of the water or indeed for fly fishing.
Little town in the heart of Donegal. Many bars, shops, places for eating out. We recommend the Highland Hotel for regular trad sessions and the famous yearly Fiddlers gathering
If you look for a beach where you can walk and walk being nearly alone, a beach with brilliant surf and impressive wide sand dunes, Dooey beach is the one. Bring a picknick and just relax!
Perfect day trip: Enjoy the drive through the breathtaking landscape from Fintown to Glenveagh and take in all the park has to offer: castle, gardens, woodland, the lake, the little coffee house...
Lovely bar with lots of little corners and places to sit. We recommend it especially for the bar food, which is of great taste and quality
A wide, wide beach, an island which you can explore at low tide, cafe's, bars, a golf club ... only 1/2 hour drive from us
When you travel Ardara to Carrick on route to the highest sea cliffs you'll find this astonishing, deep pass. Very impressive to drive up or down the steep windy road with most amazing few from top
Pub and Restaurant offering good menu with fish and seafood
Another beautiful rather secluded beach. At low tide you can access some caves along the shore, good adventure for children!
The highest see cliffs in Europe. Breathtaking! But also the drive from our house to the cliffs is is an added bonus as you want to stop for many photos on you way!
