On the west bank of the Tiber River, in the historical center of Rome, there is the Vatican City, a sovereign state surrounded by high walls, but integrated with the modern Rome.
The Vatican is an independent state that has its own currency, postal services and a colorful and efficient security service, said the Swiss Guard.
The area around the Vatican is one of the most interesting districts of Rome, made up of restaurants, pizzerias and pubs, always full of tourists and (website hidden). Peter's Square at the Vatican is in fact one of the most impressive and valuable Square in Rome.
It 's very interesting to reach the Vatican and St. Peter's from Ponte Sant'Angelo, flanked by gigantic angels by Bernini. Here towering Castel Sant'Angelo, a beautiful fortress that hides in his basement a direct passage to the Vatican.
You can also reach Saint Peter from the famous Via della Conciliazione, a wide avenue that opens on the magnificence of Rome's most famous square. The monumental Bernini's colonnade consists of 284 columns and 88 pillars and it is builded in such a way to obtain different optical effects to be discovered depending on your adopted point of view.
The obelisk in the center of the square and the two fountains by Carlo Maderno (right) and Bernini (left) make a particularly unusual symmetry of the square. In fact, between the obelisk and each fountain there is a circular stone that marks the focal point of the ellipse from which it seems to observe a single line of columns, instead of the columns in the oval real form!
The St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Gardens are jewels in the open and you must see them because uniques in the world!
You can also, if desired, attend a papal audience: in fact, once a week, usually on Wednesdays, you can get a place to see the Pope close up and maybe exchange a few words with him, you can simply book by phone (at least one month before).
St. Peter's Square with the magnificent St. Peter's Basilica, the immense dome of Michelangelo and, inside, the Bernini's Baldacchino and the Statue of Michelangelo's Pietà, are the most famous monuments of Rome.
Similarly, the Vatican Museums are one of the most rich, famous and interesting museum complex in the world. Here you will find the best collection of classical statuary, Renaissance painting, Etruscan and Egyptian relics.
Don't miss the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. Also, the Round Hall, the Egyptian Museum, the Etruscan Museum, the Candelabra Gallery, the Borgias apartments, the Sixtus V Library, the Chiaramonti Museum, the Art Gallery and the Gregorian Museum.
Below there are some general guidelines to reach comfortably and easily our apartment in St. Peter:
From Termini Station is recommended to take the bus line 64 and get off at the stop "Crocifisso - Porta Fabbrica".
From here, our apartment is distant about 300 meters, in via di Monte del Gallo.
Alternatively, from Termini you can take the Metro A (the red line) in Battistini direction for 8 stops, get off at "Valle Aurelia", here take the urban train FL3 in the Ostiense direction for one stop and get off at San Peter's Station. Our apartment is 200 meters walk from here.
From Fiumicino airport (Leonardo Da Vinci), there is a train that connects the airport to the Termini Station (the journey takes about 35 minutes and costs about 14 €), from there take the bus line 64 to the stop "Crocifisso - Porta Fabbrica" and walk for 300 meters in Via Monte del Gallo or you may choose in alternative the Subway A and the urban train described above.
From Ciampino Airport, there is a shuttle bus that runs from the airport to Termini Station (travel time about 40 minutes and the price is about 8 euro), from there take bus line 64 to the stop "Crocifisso Porta Fabbrica" and walk for 300 meters in Via Monte del Gallo. Again you can choose the alternative route with Subway A and Train FL3 described above.
By car, from the GRA, go on "Aurelia" exit (Exit number 1) towards City Centre, then follow directions to St. Peter's.
Bus routes: from Via Gregorio VII, the street that crosses Via Monte del Gallo, there are lines 34, 46b, (phone number hidden).

The taxi service that was arranged worked well to and from the airport. The apartment had a gated entrance so was secure. Nuccio spent some time going over the bus routes so that was a bonus and quite a few basic items were provided so that also helped. Everything worked and it was a fairly low cost way to see Rome. We had a great time.
Ada and Nuccio's apartment was a true home away from home. Nothing felt too far and there were many quality shops and restaurants nearby. The apartment provides almost everything from kitchen essentials to bed linens to tourist information. When I arrived, I met Nuccio who was very patient and flexible even when my flight was delayed. He took the time to explain the apartment and answered any questions we had. What I love about this place is the home feel; this apartment is truly a gem hidden within a beautiful neighborhood and yet still so close to everything you want to see.
I must say there were a few things that this apartment can improve on. For the two days, I was left with no warm water. I contacted Ada and Nuccio who quickly responded although they were not able to solve the problem in time before I left. I also think they could provide more bathroom essentials.
Overall I was satisfied with this apartment and I would recommend it to anyone.
This beautiful flat near (email hidden)e apartment was clean and comfortable with all necessary things. Ada and Nuccio very nice and friendly peoples, they was waiting for us, answered all our questions. We did not have any problems with our accomodation. Thank you!
