Guests have access to the landscaped garden, courtyard and organic vegetable patch. Free parking is always available. The boot room is shared by both homes. Sorry but no access to the main house.

Interaction with guests

If not myself, there will be someone available to meet and assist guests with settling in and to answer any questions regarding the local area, ie. restaurants, directions, facilities, bookings etc. With notice, and at an additional cost, arrangements can be made for a local chef to be available to cook meals, and any other services that maybe required ie cleaning, and shopping.

The neighborhood

My beautiful award winning village is somewhat sleepy, traditional, and quiet, yet only 10 minutes from a busy town, and not so far from the big cities, giving the best of both worlds.
The people are very friendly and helpful ,there is plenty of beautiful flora, wildlife and birds, even wild horses and goats up in the hills. They say the Silvermines gets under your skin and you will always return.

Getting around

For local travelling a car would be preferable. Taxis and mini buses are available from the village. Bicycles can be hired in Nenagh town. There is a train station to major cities and also a coach station in Nenagh that also goes to all the major cities. Regular coaches to the airports Shannon ( 1 hr) and Dublin (2.30Hrs) airports making this a very central location for all parts of Ireland. Guests will be picked up from Nenagh and taken to the Silvermines.

Other things to note

There might be other guests staying at the same time if you are occupying only one of the places. The Old Forge 1 is a cottage on the ground floor which is wheelchair and disabled accessible. Old Forge 2 which is not wheelchair accessible and this is accessed by an external stone staircase, the accommodation is on 2 levels. It is disabled accessible.
The price of per night, per week, is for one of the homes only, sleeps 4 adults.
There is a small farm yard next door which is used occasionally and cattle sometimes kept in the field at the end of the garden giving a true sense of country living.

We stayed in Old Forge 2 and absolutely loved it. The finish is exceptional and had everything needed for a quality stay. Very comfortable bed, great Wood burning stove and quick wifi. Paul is a gent and couldn't do enough for us. The local pub across the road is very friendly. New Years was a blast there. Would highly recommend you check this place out.

My sister and two friends and I stayed at Forge I in August. We had a wonderful experience from the moment we booked with Paul. The communication was great from the start, through the entire stay and after. Our check-in was very easy with Karin meeting us late in the eveining when we finally made it and showing us around and giving us great information about local activities. The cottage itself was perfectly described and was even more beautiful with an amazing setting in silvermines, an old village on a hillside located less than 10 minutes away from Nenagh. A city with everything you need! The pub across the street from the cottage was very welcoming and inviting. Tom, the owner, couldn't of been nicer and shared many stories with us along with a few other locals. We kept him open until 3:00 am one night! I cannot recommend Paul's place more. One of the best places I've ever stayed in Europe! Hope to go back one day.

Paul was a great ,contacting us about our arrival so we were met by a lovely lady who explained all about the accommodation and the area in which we were staying. Clean ,beautifully decorated and furnished with fantastic views . A sleepy little village with a small shop and pub with plenty of great walks. Absolutely spot on, we could not fault anything. Highly recommended . Well done Paul you really did think of everything.

We stayed in Old Forge II and had a lovely stay. Paul was in contact regularly and the accommodations were terrific. The area is very quiet and the ambience is what I would term luxurious rustic. The beds were extremely comfortable and a good night's rest is guaranteed. It was quite cool but with a nice fire going it was cozy. I would most definitely return and highly recommend staying in either of Paul's cottages.
