Interaction with Guests
My Wife and I live in the floor above. We will be more than happy to assist you during your stay.
The guesthouse has two terraces at the ground floor. I recommend having a walk in the neighborhood to enjoy the Lebanese village atmosphere although we are in the middle of Beirut. You can also discover Mar Mikhael's old train station that is located just next to us.
The House is easily accessed from the main street of Mar Mikhael. You can always find a "service" (the local cab) to tour in the city. If you want to go far outside Beirut, you can just call a taxi that can get you wherever you want.
Other Things to Note
The Baffa House legacy:
Antonio Baffa my grandfather who is of Italian origin, lived in Lebanon, fell in love with a Lebanese woman who became my grandmother ;) and remained in Lebanon. Then they acquired the building they were living in with their family that is now the Baffa House!
Our House is clean, calm and friendly; we expect our guests to enjoy it as it is :)
This must be officially the most relaxing place to begin a stay in Beirut. This was my second visit to Baffa House. Once again the room was really comfortable and the breakfasts were a highlight again! It's so easy to explore the hip bars and explore the city centre from here yet you get to escape the crowds in this quiet back street. All the blossom is out so sitting on the balcony of an evening the scent of jasmine drifts up to you. Samer is so hospitable it creates a really nice atmosphere when other guests are staying. Great tips for where to eat and helping me find my way around (I was staying on my own this time) Once again highly reccomend this lovely place to stay!
A very nice guesthouse in a very handy neighbourhood. It is just to the east of all the bars and restaurants of the trendy Mar Mikhael area. The closest ones are 3 minutes' walk away, and the other end of Mar Mikhael and the Gemmayzeh area are about 10-15 minutes away.
The Yellow Room was small but comfortable, with a nice high ceiling, good air conditioning/heating and two windows with blinds which block light very well. The bathroom is built into the side of the room in a separate room (common for conversion of old high-ceilinged rooms in old houses and apartments). Both room and bathroom were comfortable and well-appointed. The bathroom could be ventilated a bit more vigorously.
The common area is spacious and stylish, with two balconies overlooking the back-streets. Breakfast was varied and delicious, with a different breakfast food offered each day.
If you are a *very* light sleeper, you might want to ask for a room facing in the opposite direction to the yellow room, as on weekends you can faintly hear music noise from the bar area a couple of blocks away.
Samer and his wife were very kind and helpful, giving lots of advice and ideas, and even booking taxis and arranging out-of-town trips for us. This is really helpful in an unfamiliar city and is a great reason to book at Baffa House, rather than a more formal hotel.
Excellent facilities and host. Crazy country. The location is very safe and near lots of restaurants and bars which was really convenient for us. Samer makes sure the guests are all situated in their activities and he is very helpful. Breakfast was fine. I would return if I get back to this most insane country. If you go their by choice, be prepared for an adventure. If you seek an adventure, you will easily find one.
As a woman to travel alone to Beirut was a new situation for me but I couldn't ask for a better host than Samer. Prior to my arrival he answered my questions and took care of the transfer from the airport to the apartment. The house is situated in a exciting and stylish (hipster) area. The interior is tastefully decorated my room was very clean and comfy. Thank you for the shower! Samer gave me tips about the city that are not in a travel guide. It was very inspiring to be able to stay with you and your mothers home-made jam was very delicious. Thank you! I can only recommend the Baffa-House.
I have had an amazing time staying at Baffa house for my first time in Lebanon and particularly in Beirut. Mar Mikhael is a very much vibrant neighbourhood, lively day and night and the house is located right in it. Baffa is a super cool house, homely and warm, and the deco was to my taste I must say with many art pieces around the house. Yellow room was super comfy and quiet, great sleep. I really enjoyed the balcony in the mornings, chatting with Samer about the country and Beirut, Samer was always giving me tips for best places to see. Samer knows how to make you feel welcome and he always made sure we were looked after properly. Baffa house offers a copious breakfast in the morning and Samer's good humour makes it even better. I will definitely return to Baffa house in the near future.
Baffa House is a brilliant place to stay in Beirut. It is in an excellent location in the trendy Mar Mikhael area. Samer is the ultimate host, and was always available to have a chat or provide recommendations for sightseeing or eating! Beirut is a walkable city and Baffa house is the ideal location from which to explore.

About the Host, Samer
I'm a filmmaker living in Beirut. Obviously, I'm passionate about cinema so once you get to my house you'll notice some items related to films. I'm also interested in other form of arts (literature, music..). I usually travel to participate in film festivals/events or for a shooting outside Lebanon. When we travel my wife and I "as tourists", we usually look for a charming house to stay in as you're doing right now ;)
