The Space

Awake to the sound of waves crashing below, and a breathtaking panorama. Your beach getaway looks right down onto the sandy beach and surf. Also you'll see the neighborhood rocky coves, and a calm lagoon. Walls of glass bring the outside in. Its an easy walk to the beach, restaurants, spa, or golf course.
In addition to a beach view, you can see white water against the rocks/reef, miles of coastline to the North, and when its clear Catalina
and San Clemente Islands in the distance to the South. Watch for whales, dolphin, sea lions, pelicans and other shore birds cruising by.

Sunlit rooms with comfortable furnishings invite you in and welcome you home. There are sit down whitewater views from the living room, dining room, and kitchen.

Guests come back for the unique location and ocean side ambiance. You'll notice the rhythm of the surf day and night, even with the windows closed. City lights in the distance and floodlights on the reefs/surf add animation to make the night view sparkle.

There are two ocean view master suites. You can even see the Pacific from one of 2 showers. Queen and a double bed in one bedroom. Queen bed in the other bedroom. Central heating throughout.

Large deck out front with table and seating for six. Great for alfresco dining. There are year-around flowers and colibri/hummingbirds.

The spacious kitchen includes an island with bar seating, food prep area and a second
sink facing the ocean, living room, and dining areas.
Stainless appliances, SubZero fridge, convection oven, and 6 burner stove top.

Huge floor to ceiling windows give the feeling of being outside. The floor plan is open, with high beam ceilings.

A local shuttle bus picks up year around in the neighborhood, and

for a quick ride to the famous Laguna Beach art festivals and some of Orange County's highest rated restaurants, shopping, live theater, etc.

Lovely and quiet neighborhood.

17k acre open space preserve with awesome 360 degree coastal and inland mountain views

Thirty minute drive to Disneyland, one hour to Legoland, Sea World and San Diego Zoo. One hour to Hollywood/ Los Angeles. Ten minutes to Dana Point Harbor, then sixty minutes by boat to Avalon on Catalina Island.

  • Wow! We stayed here for a work trip and what a treat. It was not only everything we had hoped for but way more. The sound of the ocean and the views, can we live here for ever please. Don't hesitate, the host made us feel welcome and gave us the locals insight. Will stay here again whenever I'm back in the Laguna area.

  • One of the most amazing views you can hope to find along this coast. The deck, as well as the floor to ceiling windows make leaving here to enjoy what Laguna has to offer difficult. The location, while not in the heart of Laguna, offers easy access to beaches and restaurants. While the beds show their age, we still enjoyed falling asleep and awakening to the sounds of the surf below. Tom is a very kind host, excellent communicator, and made our stay very worthwhile.

  • Laguna Beach is the perfect place to play and Tom's house is the perfect place to stay! You won't meet a warmer, friendlier or more laid back person than Tom. We instantly felt like he was one of our sons. He chose this house wisely. It sits in a neighborhood on a cliff at the southern end of Laguna Beach. Both the living room and the expansive kitchen have floor to ceiling glass windows that boast the rocks in the ocean and the beautiful white water waves crashing on the beach that lies below, on the other side of HWY 1 (The Coast Highway}. The house is incredibly private for having such large windows and views! The main floor is so bright and cheery. We had very easy access to the beach as we enjoyed sitting in Tom's beach chairs and reading there several days. On other days we made one trip south to LaJolla and others north to Newport, L.A. and Malibu. We highly recommend renting this house if you can get it! The week passed much too quickly for us!

  • We had a wonderful time at Tom's house. The view on the ocean is absolutely stunning, and you can hear the crashing waves from the bedrooms as well. You will enjoy amazing sunset from up there. The house is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood, 5 minutes away from the beach and the Montage park. Tom is a wonderful host, who gave us great tips for walks, restaurants, and sightseeing in the region. I would definitely recommend this place, and would love to go back myself!

  • Beautiful home. Five minute walk from the beach. A great place to get away.

    August 2012
  • The house was great and the view amazing. Tom greeted us at our arrival and explained where to locate items for use, eg towels, coffee, etc. The internet access was not working well and if you feel the need to be hooked up during your stay talk with Tom before hand as our guys had a difficult time with the WI-FI and they are both pretty tech savvy. THe location is ideal as you can walk to the beach and to the bottom of the hill to use the free Laguna shuttle into town. We definitely would stay here again. If you had trouble with stairs it may not be the place for you as you need to climb stairs to get to the house and the bedrooms and baths are upstairs, no problem there for us however. Hope to be back again!

  • The views from this house are SPECTACULAR. The house itself was delightful. A rambling three story house on the hill almost directly over the beach. Kitchen, although a bit dated, was huge and had ample room for our group of six to all be in it at the same time. Dining area and living rooms are a bit disjointed - step downs into one seating area but were large and very livable and very beachy. The walls of windows give a perfect view from every spot of the first floor. The large front deck had plenty of comfortable seating and gave us front row seats to the most spectacular sunsets every night. The bedrooms are up a narrow flight of stairs and just what you'd expect from a casual beach house. The only real oddity to the house is that both bathrooms are only accessible through the bedrooms. The house did warm up during the late afternoon but the ocean breezes cooled it off very quickly.
Tom provided coffee and all the fixings for the morning. He did a great job with the quick walk through when we arrived (all houses have their quirks). He had a guide to the area that he had highlighted with his personal favorites. He gave us great suggestions for restaurants and beaches. There is a grocery store just a two minute drive away.
While the beaches are technically within walking distance we chose to drive to them. The area is filled with great beaches.
I would recommend this house and this host to anyone.

  • 4 of us stayed at Tom's place and I cannot fault it. Tom was a brilliant host, he waited for us to arrive late in the afternoon and took us through the house plus gave us tips on things to do/places to go during our stay. The house is spacious, the views are amazing and the balcony was my favourite spot (perfect setting to polish off the bottle of wine we'd picked up earlier in our trip in Calistoga!). The house is located in a very quiet street so be mindful of making a lot of noise. Also remember where it is as one wrong turn at night can lead you completely off track! All in all, great place and I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends or stay here again.

    June 2012
  • The house has the most beautiful view of the ocean seen through floor to ceiling windows from all the front rooms. It is a short walk to the water in a very cute residential neighborhood, feels like you are very far from the grind of L.A. yet still in civilization. Tom was a great host, meeting us late the first night and offering all sorts of wonderful tips about the local fare. I would definitely stay here again.

    May 2012
  • Tom's house was amazing, peaceful, tranquil, set in the hills above South Laguna, where you could hear the crashing surf from any room in the house. Two bedrooms with bathrooms, large open space with angular almost loft like reminders and skylights. I highly recommend this space as its walking distance to the beach and the Montage Resort as well as restaurants. Tom was wonderful, helpful in anything we needed.
A great experience overall. I especially loved the view from the front deck watching the sun go down yet having my own private space as well.
