Small sunny room in a charming Victorian home. Comfortable double bed. Use of washer & dryer. Share new bathroom with one person (me). Room has two large south-facing windows with city view. Quiet safe area, easy & free street parking.
I'm a retired college English professor; I speak a little Spanish, Italian & French. You will have a small sunny private bedroom with two big south facing windows with city view. Very bright during the day, but has room-darkening shades for good sleep. Wifi internet, easy all day street parking. Bus at corner goes to beach, zoo, shopping mall; bus a block away goes to the city center. You can also walk to Glen Park BART subway in about 15 minutes (10 minute ride to city center, 30 to airport). Close to Cortland Avenue, the business street for my neighborhood. There you will find a library, gift shops, yoga studio, bank, coffee shops, bars, restaurants (Italian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Mexican, etc). I hosted international students for twenty years, so if you are new to San Francisco I can give you information & tips on where to go & what to see.
Feel free to use the living room & the dining room. Share renovated bathroom with me.
Interaction with Guests
I usually hang out with my computer in the kitchen and guests are always welcome to chat with me there.
Small, friendly neighborhood with nearby Flea Market on Sundays & Farmer's Market on Saturdays. Great organic grocery store with take-out deli. Lucky Horseshoe bar has live music several days a week. Rent an electric bike for 24 hours--$85. Have a pastry and coffee in the courtyard of Bernal Star Cafe. Climb to the top of Bernal Hill for a fantastic view of the city. Check out my Guidebook for more information.
#23 bus stops at my house, goes to zoo, beach or Glen Park BART station to connect with airport subway. #14 Mission bus runs 24 hours, goes downtown and back again. #24 bus goes to Castro and Pacific Heights. #49 bus goes to Fisherman's Wharf. Free street parking is easy during the day; after 7 pm you may have to park a couple of blocks away (try Agnon Street or Holly Park.)

Great room in a great neighborhood with easy parking and a friendly host. I would stay here again for sure.
Just as described, this room is clean and cozy in a house with a lot of charm. Rita was a kind host and we enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with her. We slept well which made for good energy to go gallivanting around San Francisco. Staying in the Bernal Heights neighborhood was an ideal location as we have family close by. We also discovered some good eats and shopping just a block or two away.
I was welcomed right a way with a smile from Rita that made me feel at home right away. Rita was a great host & would stay with her again. Nice house in a nice, 2 parks within walking distance & some good bakeries restaurants are close also.
Rita made me feel at home, provided helpful directions, and gave me privacy when I needed it. She upgraded me to the apartment, which is a lovely and light-filled space. The furniture, decor, and the "little touches," all show a really thoughtful attitude. Rita's home is a bit less than a mile from BART's Glen Park station, and the #23 bus stops nearby. I really felt at home and in fact found myself telling friends, "I have to get home," while visiting. Thanks Rita!
We had a great time in Rita's house. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. The location is good, there is a beautiful park near the house, quite and easy to parking. When we stayed in SF, we had a tour in the city almost (website hidden) we did not meet Rita.but we believe she is a kindly host, because she always gave us useful advice.I hope i could come back this wonderful place again.
We enjoyed our stay of 4 nights at Rita's place. The room may be small but it has a comfortable bed and is well lit. Rita gave us a warm welcome as well as helpful suggestions on restaurants nearby. Read her guidebook to know what you're expecting during your stay.
