A spacious 1-br on the Tjampuan Ridge- beautiful garden, nice views, amazing open air bathroom w/unlimited hot water, bright & clean interior, equipped kitchen & quiet neighborhood. Fiber optic, fast internet, beautiful terrace and more!
This is one of four properties we rent in the neighborhood, please see our other available listings as well!
All are very sweet spaces on the Champuan Ridge above Ubud in the rice fields. The air and temperatures up here are about 8 degrees (F) cooler than town and offer refreshing breezes often.
This house is a two story/ two unit villa and is bright, airy and cooler than every other village in Ubud because of the breeze from the east.
About 15 minutes from the center of Ubud by motorbike our home is a very lovely space in quiet Bangkiang Sidem. Windows around the entire home offer bright days and a very pleasant breezy feel. The gardens are pristine (dry during dry season) with a lawn large enough to do yoga (for two); coconut and banana trees decorate the corner of the garden, and beyond the low wall and Balinese altar is an great view of the rice fields. We have done our best to show this in photographs, but it's even better in person!
The bed is the most comfortable we have found so far in Bali, a king size mattress with a pillow top and a view into the garden - sleeping here is a joy.
Fiber optic, fast/reliable internet/Wifi is included (being a new service area the connection here is exceptional, unlike much of Ubud) also LCDTV and DVD player and ipod/mp3 speakers. Strong blender also part of the kitchen supplies. Towels and sheets changed weekly, maid service available at extra rate.
Interaction with Guests
There are daily blessings by the family who owns the house - a lovely display of Balinese culture with flowers and incense at the door step. Other than that the sheet/towel change is the only interaction you'll encounter.
A quiet brick road rolls through the neighborhood and just nearby is Tripadvisor's #1 choice for Best Spa in Ubud. We can vouche that the treatments there are amazing!
The village is an artist community where local painters offer their artwork to tourists arriving at the top of Ubud's most famous walk.. The walk to town is very nice as the path is a shortcut straight down the undeveloped canyon. A beautiful stroll and highlight of the area. By car or bike it is less than 15 minutes to town via a nice ride through the canyon.
Parking for car is available on property.

Just enjoy and have a wonderful time!
Wayan, Lucas and Carissa were super nice and welcoming. Wayan's villa was exactly what we were looking for. Cozy and quiet. We were worried at first it would be to hot because their is no AC but it turned out to be for nothing because with the fans it was always cool. The 20min walk on the way to town is amazing.
My girlfriend and I rented this house for 20 days and loved it! We felt like we had discovered a hidden gem! Every morning we jogged through the jungle trail & enjoyed the beautiful ridge views and gorgeous temples all just minutes away! The neighborhood was very nice, safe, & the artists on this block are very sweet & talented! Wayan was so friendly and kind. He introduced us to his family and invited us to go to the temple to experience real bali! All our needs were met plus more. The house was clean, well maintained & spacious enough for our yoga practice everyday. We will rent again here!
First I would like to say that we had a wonderful time at Wayan's place! We stayed there for two weeks during our Southeast Asia Trip and it really was great having our own place and to be able to cook our own meals which we hadn't done in a while. Pictures and description are absolutely accurate.
So if you plan a longer stay near Ubud I would definitely recommend it as it is so much nicer and more peaceful than staying downtown in busy and noisy Ubud! However if you are only in Ubud for 2-3 nights and want to go out for dinner and sightseeing and shopping this place might not be the best choice as it is a bit out of the city. You either have to walk at least 30 minutes on a really nice path but during the day it gets really really hot and this could be a challenge or you could rent a motorbike but then it is still a 15 minuten drive. So for a short stay it might be better to stay in Ubud directly.
As others mentioned renting a motorbike is pretty much mandatory. Especially when you are staying longer and need to get groceries and water. However it is really cheap to rent one (less then 4 Euros per day), gas is cheap aswell and the ride up the village is nice.
Another thing that you might want to know before going there. You are likely to share your home with quite a lot of ants, geckos, sometimes an occasional spider. We somehow had especially many, many ants, that only came out at night and also liked joining us in our bed which was a little bit annoying, but I guess there is nothing to be done about this in a place like this in the middle of the rice fields. Good to know might be that on the other hand we rarely had any problems with mosquitos! :)
Also when we stayed there the construction work in the appartment above was still going on and we found it really quite loud with a lot of sawing, drilling and hammering throughout the day. But I think Wayan will be finished mid February so this shouldn't be an issue anymore.
Last but not least many thanks to Lucas and Wayan! You were really really helpful and we loved our stay!!! Hope to come back soon!
First of all we were not bothered by the construction work (we were actually out most of the time when it was occurring, as they were not starting too early), and we look forward to seeing the first floor villa which will be fantastic!
The location is great, so quiet yet not far from Ubud through a nice trekking path. So relaxing, with only noises from the wildlife when falling asleep.
It was nice to have our own cozy villa. Everybody around is so friendly! Special thanks to Wayan of course (and his nice family), Lucas and Carissa, Wayan Rana the artist.
In summary, we were really sad to leave... Was a great experience.
Wayan and Lucas are both great! Communication beforehand was clear, quick and efficient. The villa is beautiful and the Campuhan Ridge peaceful and a lovely escape from busy Ubud. The sunsets up on the ridge are incredible!
Having a motorbike is not necessary, but highly recommended to get back and forth to Ubud.
The upper level of the villa is currently under construction. I barely noticed the noise unless I was outside in the open air bathroom.
The place is beautiful, I concur with all the positives of the previous review. Stayed there alone to write and write I did. Pak Wayan and Lucas are kind and gentle guys. The type of people who would go out of their way to help ensure you get a great experience there. Got like free duck eggs from Pak Wayan (fresh from the farm) because it was raining too heavily when I wanted to walk to the supermarket to buy eggs. And a yoga session from Lucas. It was my first time having duck eggs and a proper yoga session. How cool is that!?? and the place is about 2min walk to one of the best spas in Bali, Karsa spa. That place even has a restaurant which serves good food at great prices with awesome views Look no further just book this place for your next trip to Ubud it's brilliant.
Nice, quiet house with beautiful view on rice fields. With a lovely 20 - 25 minutes walk on a path you get to Ubud. I reccomend to rent a motorbike. The owner is very kind and Lucas is very responsive to any questions.

I have four one bedroom houses near each other in the rice fields above Ubud. Great for a family gathering where everyone has their own space or available for booking house individually. Let me know if you have anything to ask!
