The Space

Welcome to YURNGA, aboriginal for "Big View".

My Tamborine Mountain Retreat ( Yurnga) is a secluded Mountain Retreat, architect designed, located in a rain forest setting with a big view overlooking the Gold Coast. The house sits on a huge 3 acre block, complete with its' own rain forest and rolling green pastures. It is a unique sub tropical setting.
Hear our resident Whipbird- he is reclusive but sure makes his presence felt!
The address is "chic & ritzy". If glass walkways and glass ceilings are to your liking this is your location. If entering the Japanese style bath house by a revolving door is to your liking, this is also your location.
Share your breakfast with a kookaburra- sometimes they take pole position on the verandah.

* Open plan lounge & dining room with air conditioning and with rain forest and coastal views.
* Cosy potbelly fire sits in the large fireplace.

* 2 en-suited bedrooms.
Master bedroom which is air conditioned, has a super comfortable king sized bed with en suite accessed through a glass walkway where the spa looks out over the fabulous view and the shower, toilet and bidet adjoin.

Second bedroom is at other end of the house, also air conditioned, and is equipped with a queen sized bed, 2 walls of glass giving mountain views and an adjoining bathroom which also has a wall of windows.

The Bunk House is connected to the Main House by an raised wooden walkway.
It has 2 air conditioned bedrooms and a bathroom between the 2. The bathroom has a glass ceiling which looks up to the green of the forest.
It sleeps 4 people.
It is private, and separate from the Main House.

Price quoted for the property is for 4 people, using the Main House.(Use of the Bunk House is an extra cost).
Mid Week Specials are available. Stay Tuesday/Wednesday /Thursday and get 3rd night free.
Come and stay in a Mountain House designed by an award winning architect.
Be greeted on arrival by a complimentary bottle of wine. Sit on the verandah and sip your complimentary Tamborine Mountain coffee.
Enjoy the spa bath looking out over the Coast, the soft fluffy towels and the fine bed linen. A serene experience.

"what a fantastic time we have had here @ the Retreat. to wake up and have a breathtaking view towards the coast, across the lush green mountains while sipping your cuppa- no cares or worries- the world can pass by quietly- I didn't notice. The nights are great- peaceful and dark. For a person who works 7 days/week, I have been totally relaxed- done nothing except enjoy my " Retreat", and all that Mt Tamborine can offer." Tamborine Mountain is part of the Scenic Rim. Everywhere you turn you will see mountains. In 1908 Queensland's first National Park was declared- Witches Falls on Tamborine Mountain.
.Australia's most accessible World Heritage-listed rainforests are spread throughout the 8 National Parks of the Scenic Rim. The natural landscape is stunning!
It is a world of sub-tropical, eucalyptus and cycad rainforest featuring an abundance of easy walks and magnificent views of the Gold Coast and the national parks of The Scenic Rim.

There is much to do and see:

The Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk puts you in the canopy with the wildlife. This is in the top 2 attractions on the Mountain, the other being the Glow Worm Caves.

If you are a daredevil, you can hitch a ride with a local hang glider, or you can be an onlooker.
Meander down Gallery Walk, a run of intriguing shops, restaurants, art galleries.

If food and wine are more to your taste, visit the Cheese Factory, or The Belgian Chocolate Shop, or the boutique breweries and distilleries
.Buy some locally grown organic veggies, a bunch of native flowers, or a coffee.

The Big News: something akin to Mr. MacGregors Garden is now open ,opposite St., Bernard's School. This is the vegetable garden that Gardening Australia needs to know about. Purple cauliflowers, heritage tomatoes- red, yellow and green, all types of different salad greens----all for sale between 7,30-9.30 Tues, Thurs & Sunday com See more at (email hidden)
The location is a 10minute walk down the road from the Tamborine Mountain Retreat!!!

Stay a day or 2, a week or a month, you will not be disappointed!

  • We enjoyed staying at Trish's mountain retreat... it was such beautiful surroundings and everything we wanted in a holiday home was within easy reach. There are some great cafes and activities nearby but it is also just a lovely place to relax and get away for a few days. We got some lovely photos amongst all the blooming spring flowers too.

  • Fantastic house. My guests were very happy with the experience and they will suggest people stay there.

  • Yurnga was the perfect house for our four day writing retreat: four very private rooms (we rented the bunkhouse as well), for four women, a great galley style kitchen within the open plan living area for the preparation of our evening meals and a cosy wood fire for our discussions afterwards - all of this with Tamborine Mountain's serene backdrop of rainforest, hinterland and ocean. Not to mention the gorgeous Japanese style bathhouse. We discovered two cute coffee shops less than five minutes walk away but most of the time we were more than happy to stay indoors. Excellent coffee was provided and a welcome bottle of wine. Definitely recommended for a restorative and inspirational stay..

  • We loved staying at Trish's Mt Tamborine retreat for a weekend escape and to attend a friend's wedding at a nearby winery. The house was immaculate, it had everything we needed, the views were stunning and it provided a great base from which to explore Mt Tamborine!

  • Amazing place to stay! Trish is a wonderful host and it was a pleasure to stay in her home. Recommend to anyone thinking of a weekend away! The house has everything you need and more. Sitting on the deck in the morning with the sunshine on your face and a lovely coffee was just delightful. Thanks so much for having us.

  • My wife and I had a wonderful time at Tamborine Mountain Retreat. It is an ideal place from which to explore the mountain or just do nothing and let the world pass by. Very private, quiet and peaceful.
