A serene, spacious 2 bedroom flat - warm and welcoming for your visit!
This flat, the lower level of a duplex, is peaceful and spacious, with a unique layout. Please feel at home using the living/dining area, yoga room, kitchen, bathroom, mudroom, and backyard, in addition to the bedroom.
There's a very comfortable couch in the living room that can be used for another person to sleep on, as well as plenty of space for an air mattress in the yoga room.
You're welcome to use anything in the apartment, and there is also a small hybrid bike, that you can use to explore the area if you like (ask if you need more bikes and we might be able to leave up to 2 others, with a deposit).
There is also a parking spot available in front of the house—just let us know in advance if you'll need it so we can make sure to put our car somewhere else.
Interaction with Guests
Depending on when you come, I will most likely be nearby, and am happy to help with tips and suggestions. In any case, I'm always an email or phone call away, if there's anything you need!
We're located on a quiet street, half a block from Mosswood Park and 5 blocks to the BART station (about 10 minutes walking). There are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, etc within walking distance, on Telegraph, Broadway, and Piedmont streets.
Downtown Oakland, Temescal, Rockridge, and South Berkeley are all just a short bike, bus, or car ride (or not so short walk) away.
Many bus lines pass just a block from the house, and the MacArthur Bart station is 5 blocks away.
Please don't smoke or wear shoes in the house, and be respectful of the space and the neighbors!
The apartment is very spacious and is in a great location. However, the heat did not work the entire time we were there and the weather was in the low 40's at night. If the (non-working) thermostat was correct, it never got warmer than 55-60 degrees inside the apartment. In addition, although John was very sweet and tried to be helpful, he sure doesn't know how to clean. He knew what time we expected to arrive, but was still putting sheets on the bed, etc. I braved a shower in the cold, only to discover all the towels were still damp from the dryer. Also, rotting food in the fridge, dishes in the dish drainer. Maggie, found your missing sock and lots of dirt when I pulled a fallen pillow from under your bed. BTW, the landlord did show up Jan 2nd when we were leaving, but still no heat when we returned that night. However, the landlord did get the hot water working in your bathroom sink. Last, but not least, the bedroom faces the street and the window drapes are sheers. Did you realize anyone on the street, plus your neighbors can TOTALLY SEE EVERYTHING when the bedroom lights are on?! I am requesting a refund of $240. I figure you'll still have to pay the $35 airbnb fee and I'm hoping you hire a professional cleaner for the $55 cleaning fee.
What a great place to share with our friends from Seattle. Very comfortable and convenient location for the four of us. Walkable to BART and restaurants. Thank you Maggie!
Maggie's house was peaceful and lovely. Also Oakland is very good place to stay. Maggie is a nice and kind person. We didn't meet but we were in contact all the time. Thank you for everything. İt was a great holiday:)
Had an absolutely lovely time at Maggie's home. Didn't have the pleasure to meet her, but on arrival her housemates warmly welcomed my friends and I and we found she had left notes welcoming us on the kitchen counter. The space itself was very warm and welcoming and we had plenty of room for all four of my friends to to sleep comfortably.
This was my first experience with Airbnb, and after multiple reservations canceled at the last minute, Maggie was nice enough to let us stay at her home mere hours before my flight left to Oakland. The price and location couldn't have possibly been better for us, but what I really appreciated most of all was her helping my friends and I out of a tight spot at a time when it became inconvenient for both parties, and incredibly stressful for mine.
Incredibly dependable host and a cozy, homely space to stay. If you are looking for a place to stay in Oakland I couldn't recommend this host and space any higher.
Great space that was perfect for our weekend getaway. The hosts were very accommodating
Maggie's no-frills apt was clean, quiet, and provided all the comforts of home. Maggie was clear and prompt with her communication and made checking-in and out easy. I would recommend her place to anyone visiting the Bay Area.
Maggie was great, very responsive and acomodating. I was only there for 12 hours, but it seemed like a nice place to stay longer.
