It's a family home so it has a normal everyday bustle and activities of my clan. We are welcoming and we are interested in your journey.
Self service continental breakfast is available each morning to accommodate early flights and late risers. Tea coffee toast. Often other guests are able to overlap and exchange travel tips.
A quiet neighborhood overall and yet for a busy city its a safe 10 mins walk home without any night problems or issues.
Bus and train station are 10 mins walk from the house. The airport is 20 mins bus trip. I can order a taxi which would cost €15 and takes 15 mins.
I work opposite at the academy beauty and laser clinic so its very convenient and therefore if you'd like to arrive earlier or later than previously arranged then you can hook up there for the key which is no problem whatsoever. Laundry is €20 extra to facilitate washing & drying.

  • I had a great stay at Eileens house. The room is as described on the website and neat and cosy. Would always come back.

  • My father and I had a very enjoyable visit with the bubbly and friendly host Eileen. the beds were comfortable and the style of the house allows everyone their corner of privacy - which is wonderful.

Highly recommend to anyone who is seeking accommodation with privacy, a comfortable bed and a friendly kitchen.

  • My first Airbnb experience and I couldn't have wished for a better host than Eileen. She is very responsive, knows what her guests need in terms of communication and is a great person to talk to!

  • We arrived in cork late, around 9pm. Eileen was excellent with communicating with us prior to our trip and our arrival. She had informed us she would not be home to greet us when we arrived due to a prior engagement, which was no big deal. We were told her son would be there to let us in and show us to our room. Upon arrival, a traveler currently staying with Eileen let us in and gave us our room key because nobody who lived there was actually home. Our room was clean and all the information we had about the wifi and such was already provided. The wifi did not work in our room because of the buildings thick concrete walls (we were also on the third floor).

We also needed to use the laundry service that was advertised. Because there was nobody home we were not able to do it that night. We decided to explore cork city a bit before bed and upon waking up in the morning we would attempt to introduce ourselves to Eileen and get information on how to do laundry. We woke up at approximately 7:00am the following morning to an again, empty house. My wife decided to take a shower and upon doing so we discovered the hot water (at least in our shower) did not work and the water was freezing cold. After not being able to take showers we decided to go down for breakfast and then leave. We went into the kitchen to discover a banana and a couple prepackaged miniature muffins. Maybe the others who were staying in the house woke up super early and ate all of the food, I don't know.

So to sum it all up, our wifi did not work unless we stood in the middle of the staircase, we did not have hot water for showers, there was very little food left for breakfast and we unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet or speak with Eileen after out initial contact through airbnb. I would not recommend staying with her.

  • Eileen's apartment was in a great location. Walking distance to shops and restaurants in the main area of town. Her apartment is cute and cozy and Eileen herself was very sweet, fun and knowledgable. I definitely recommend this location if you want to be close to the city without all the noise.

  • My stay with Eileen was pretty good. The house was being used by other people as well who were renting out other rooms for a few nights. It had sort of a hostel feel to it. Eileen came to check on me to make sure I had everything I needed and that I was comfortable. She made herself available even if it wasn't in person we were able to communicate via airbnb and she was quick to respond. Good location, about a 10 minute walk to the center.

  • Eileen and her family were excellent hosts and lovely people. The room was comfy and Eileen was always looking out for our comfort. We are very grateful for her contribution to our amazing time in Ireland and we look forward to staying again some day.

  • Eileen's room was perfect for my stay in Cork! After a long week of traveling and hostels prior to hitting Cork, her cozy room was a nice, relaxing place to be able to stay. It's a really sweet, clean room, with two comfy beds and plenty of room to store your stuff; the bathroom is right next to the room so you have plenty of privacy; and the breakfast foods provided were great! The house is located about a 10 minute walk from the city center so it was a great distance; also, my friend and I were there on Easter Sunday and had no problem finding a church to go to nearby. And of course Eileen is great! If I had any question, I could just send her a message via Airbnb and within a few minutes she'd either reply or if at home, come up to the room to answer our questions! If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Cork, I'd definitely recommend this!

  • It is a very nice and comfortable house with a kindly owner. She makes us feel well. Thanks so much Eileen.

  • Our stay with Eileen and her family was wonderful. Eileen welcomed us with as much information as we needed about town events, its history, relevant landmarks and directions to wherever we were heading. She is extremely personal and constantly checked in to make sure we were comfortable, at one point even  gifting some extra warm socks during a cold snap. Their home is in a great location, only a few minutes' walk to town centre. Functionally, the rooms are cozy and clean, and the kitchen (complete with gas range) is always available for use. Absolutely the only complaint we had after a five-week stay was the odd family squabble, which a couple times became heated enough to resonate through the house. Our interactions with all family members were pleasant and friendly, and the kids chipped in to keep the whole place running. We were sad to leave after feeling at home there for so long!
