The Neighborhood

The house is a 10 minute walk from the village of Montezuma. You can walk along the beach or you can walk on a small, shaded beach road.

You can hike the waterfalls, take yoga classes, go horseback riding, take a boat tour and much, much more. Montezuma is a friendly and healthy community which attracts people from all over the world. Don't be surprised if you bump into someone you know!

There are two markets in town for grocery shopping or any other supplies you may need. Many wonderful restaurants are close by, most notably Cocolores, L'Angolo Allegro, Puggo's and Playa de los Artistos. Small souvenir shops are also scattered along the main road. There are plenty of local artists selling their unique handcrafted jewelry along the street. Montezuma has an active nightlife including a couple of bars that have music. Try to catch the local talent of fire dancing (poi) with the weekly nighttime performances in the middle of town.

Getting around

The cottage is located right next to the Ylang Ylang Resort. It isn't even necessary to have a car in this area as everything is very accessible and there's so much to do. We do not encourage driving from the village to the house. It is free to park in town and our caretaker will be happy to haul your luggage in and out.

Other Things to Note

There are two other houses on this large family owned property. There's a four bedroom house which can sleep up to 8 people and a cabin suitable for 2 people. These houses are also available to rent. Inquire about renting all three for large groups. Plan a family reunion or a wedding on the sand!

  • The place was nice, albeit quite small, though very true to the description. The shower was AWESOME!

  • Great place! Perfect location! Far exceeded our expectations.

  • The apartment was clean and very comfortable. Great natural light and the front deck was awesome. Only a couple blocks to Haight Ashbury. Bernat was very responsive and professional. Note: Any extra amenities such as hand soap, dishes, laundry detergent for the machine on the property, etc. were pretty scarce so make sure to bring along your own.

    One not-so-great thing:
The kitchen has a back door that leads to a patio and roof terrace. The description currently reads: "Guest Access - You will have access to the entire property."; however, when we went back there to check out the space we were confronted by an extremely rude neighbor, asking what we were doing there and telling us to leave. Extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing! I would not recommend going out the back door!

    Response from Bernat:

I am sorry you had this bad experience with the neighbor. We do not advertise the patio/garden upstairs which is clearly part of the neighbor's property. Actually we don't show any picture of that garden/patio on the listing. I am sorry you got confused seeing the stairs that lead to the the shared laundry area also lead to the neighbor's patio/garden. That is also an emergency exit for the unit and the door on the top of the stairs opening the neighbor's patio/garden remains open for that purpose. There is no privacy issue because the back door of the unit located inside the kitchen remains closed.

  • Great place, great location. Bernat would reply to my emails and address our needs promtly.

    Thank you!

  • This place was our home in San Francisco, we enjoyed having the keys to one of the 'typical SF houses' and we enjoyed our four-day stay there.
Bernat was very prompt and efficient in answering my emails, which is a quality I highly value. This apartment is spacious and nicely taken care of. We were meeting up in SF from all corners of the world, one night there were 7 of us and it didn't feel crowded. We used the front living room and its pull-out couch as a bedroom, and still had the kitchen to hang out in together. Two bathrooms allowed for a steady flow in the morning. I enjoyed that every room was decorated with care and that both bathrooms have windows.
The Muni street car conveniently stops right outside and takes you straight to the center of town in 20 minutes. The neighborhood itself is quaint and quiet, and lived in. The organic market across the street has everything you may need. There are a few restaurants and bars in walking distance which is a nice way to begin or end a day - we loved our breakfast at Crêpes on Cole.
Yes, I recommend this Wonderful Apartment Cole Valley, SF.

  • Bernat's place provides you with everything you need for an excellent San Francisco stay. Close to Mission and Castro with its vibrant cultures, and with excellent connections to all parts of San Francisco. We enjoyed the apartment - it was like being in America! Good food and shops in the direct neighborhood and there is a car park.

Next time we will definitely look for the same place.

    many thanks,

    Wisse & Henriette

I love my wife, my parents and my brother, without them nothing would be the same! I like to provide people accommodation during their stay in San Francisco. I also have on Airbnb one cute apartment in the heart of Barcelona. San Francisco is such an amazing city surrounded by history, unique culture and special events throughout the whole year, and I want to make sure my guests enjoy their stay as much as possible! My favorite places in the world are San Francisco, Menorca, Barcelona and a place I haven't been yet. I love the Mediterranean sea and its magic. My motto is: If you can dream it, you can do it!
