At 2,875 meters of altitude, 600+ meters lower than Cusco. A perfect climate to enjoy all year round. Bring sunblock and mosquito repellent, as it may be of help at times :) Rain ponchos are very handy during rain season and hiking shoes/boots are a must, if you are planning to walk. Dress in "layers"... as you may experience all 4 seasons in "1" day! :)

It was nice that the owner arranged for a taxi to meet us at the train station and we used Wilbur for taxi service to the Salt Mines and to Cusco. The grounds and gardens were really lovely and relaxing. The property manager was very sweet and kind. She had a fire going for us when we arrived home after a long day site seeing and served us a really nice complimentary breakfast daily. The home was comfortable and the beds were really nice. The showers were a little tricky-hot then cold, hot then cold. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Mariela, Bubu, and my experience staying in Wilkamayu. From the very beginning, Mariela was incredibly responsive over email and made me feel welcome. Bubu was the perfect host while I was there, she even helped me organize transportation and suggested things to do around town. My private bungalow was lovely and the ideal home base for my Sacred Valley getaway. I loved reading in the garden, walking along the river, and exploring nearby Urubamba. Thank you, Mariela and Bubu, for making my vacation so special. I'll definitely be back!
It was a true pleasure to receive Maddy. A beautiful person, who came for a rest to the Sacred Valley and we are very happy to have met her expectations too. :) We hope she returns one day and 100% reccommend her as a guest to anyone she visits through the Airbnb world. Best of luck to her! A new friend!
We loved Mariela's bungalow. it is set amongst a beautiful garden and lawn with the surrounding hills and Urubamba river completing the surroundings. it was very comfortable and peaceful and very well equipped with everything you could wish for. mariela was in contact by phone and was extremely helpful in a personal situation when I had lost my wallet. she also provided us with a lovely driver, Rolando, who met us at the airport and drove us around the Sacred Valley the next day. We loved it here.
Our stay with Mariela at Cusco Country Riverside Apartment was absolutely wonderful. Mariela made us feel like family, taking us to ruins, markets, out for lunch and making amazing pisco sours. The apartment was cozy, clean and so lovely that it made it very difficult to get out and about to see the town or the ruins because we just wanted to hang around the beautiful grounds. We highly recommend staying here and will come back again when we can brave the 40+ hours of flying to get there form Australia!!
Mariela was an amazing host she can give the entire hospitality industry a lesson or 2 ! It was the most phenomenal stay at an Air B&B .She took amazing care of every little detail !! Anytime we needed a taxi or any guidance, from local restaurants to shopping she was on top of it. She has a great team the lady who helps Mariela out, Boo-Boo( That is her name) was outstanding and always available to help out ! It was a very memorable trip and we would go back anytime we can to this property. It was a feeling as if we were her personal guest! Highly Recommend staying at her Property !

Staying at Mariela's place was the highlight of our trip. After traveling through Peru for a month it was such a comfortable and welcoming place for us. The cottage we were in felt like home and Mariela is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed, she treated me and my wife like family. She really wants you to have a wonderful time in Peru and can help you plan anything to make your trip more enjoyable!
We had the most amazing time with Mariela and Bubu in Urubamba! My only wish is that we could have stayed longer . From the moment we contacted Mariela she was helpful and friendly. When we arrived, it felt like we had come home! The location was beautiful, situated on a river, quite a walk from the town but getting local transport was easy enough. She has 7 beautiful dogs - all friendly and fun to play with, but they are always around and in the house which we didn't mind at all. Mariela upgraded us to the cottage, which was very cosy and pretty. Had everything we needed incl some water and tea. And the shower was always hot. The bedroom was comfortable, and overall very spacious. Breakfast was great, with amazing coffee. Mariela helped us a lot with organizing activities around the Sacred Valley and where to go etc. Bubu even made us one of the local meals one night for dinner. We all had a great time drinking wine around the beautiful fire pit and chatting under the stars. We are so glad we could stay here on our trip and lucky to have met Mariela and Bubu!
