About this listing
Superb house right in a heart of old Dublin. Central location just 5 min from the Guinness Hopstore and no more than 12 min from Christchurch. Puts you into the heart of this great city right away.
All mod cons, yet brimming with character!
A three story house in the heart of a residential area in 'Auld' Dublin City Centre making it a unique space to base yourself for sightseeing in Dublin.
The space will comfortably fit three individuals in the three double bedrooms. It could fit up to three couples with a squeeze - bedrooms are smallish so be warned! One of the bedrooms is probably best allocated to a single person as it is a small double bed. The others are standard size.
The ground floor is open plan, consisting of two living areas, a galley kitchen and a bathroom.
There are three bedrooms - one of which is a converted attic space . All three bedrooms have double beds (attic bedroom has a futon bed). Plenty of wardrobe space in each bedroom.
Typical of this style of home, the bathroom is downstairs, off the kitchen, and consists of a shower, toilet and handbasin.
Small patio to the back of the house - can be a little suntrap if in Dublin at the right time of year!
What else to expect?
Fully controllable heating
Flat Screen TV
Full inventry of cooking equipment
Washing Machine (Tablets provided)
Fridge (with bread, milk and eggs supplied!)
Iron and Ironing Board
Sofa and armchair
Off-street parking (pay and display)
We pride ourselves on giving a warm Dubliner welcome. Our aim is for you to have a wonderful city break here in the capital. The property is not suitable for people with limited mobility but please feel free to phone us for a more indepth description.
Interaction with Guests
We live three miles from the house and work in City Centre so are always close by. We are delighted to help all our guests with advice, foodie recommendations and anything else. We are happy to swing by or discuss things by phone. We are also aware that some people enjoy their privacy and so just holler if you need us!
The Liberties, where our 'Auld Dublin' home is, has been home to literati like Jonathan Swift and singers such as Imelda May. Two Oscar winners call this area home - Brenda Fricker and Jeremy Irons own houses just around the corner from us. There's a vibrant art and antique scene around the Liberties. It has a lovely quirky feel with plenty of charity shops, markets and art gallerys. I love it!
Just 5 minutes or less walking from the house:
National College of Art and Design (NCAD)
The Guinness HopStore
Vicar Street - well known intimate concert venue - check out whats on - (website hidden)
Saturday local shopping on Meath Street - a must to get the 'auld' Dublin experience!
Francis Street, a hub for antique and art shops
Some of our favourite old 'off the beaten track' Dublin pubs, including Fallons and Arthurs are less than a 5 minute walk away.
10 minutes or less walking from the house
St Patricks Cathedral
Dont miss coffee and cake in the local cafes - particularly renowned are the Bite of Life (get take away and people watch in the park of St Patricks Cathedral) and Fumbally (for the most delicious cakes ever!!).
15 minutes walk from the house:
Dublin City Centre, Temple Bar, Grafton Street, Dublin Castle, Trinity College Dublin, The Jameson Distillery, O'Connell Street and the Spire, IMMA, The National Gallery, History Museum, and Government Buildings, Stephens Green and Phoenix Park.
The airport bus, the 747, stops at Christchurch, no more than a 10 minute walk from our house. You can buy bus tickets for this service online or at the airport. A taxi from the airport will cost you about 25-35 euro.
There is lots of public transport nearby. However you are within walking distance of pretty much everything and so shouldn't really need to use public transport. Umbrellas are supplied so that rain wont deter walking!
All national train/bus links are within walking distance if you want to visit suburbs or venture out of Dublin.
We ask that when you leave, it is much as you found it and please write in the visitors book.
There is no smoking policy in the house, but you are welcome to smoke on the patio.
The house is well located and easy to find. It is very comfortable and homely. Quiet area so we got good sleeps! Excellent communication from our host and very accommodating to our requests and needs . Would recommend and stay again x
We loved our stay at Aoife's place. We were within walking distance of all major attractions, and the place was perfect for us 3 nights. Everything you could possibly need is there!
We never met Aoife, but communication was great, and we did chat on the phone once. Her friend Gill met us when we arrived, and I also met her husband. So great to deal with, and I would definitely stay at their place and rent from them next time I am in Dublin.
6 of us stayed at Aoife's home, located in central Dublin for 4 days and had a great experience. The home is located 10 minutes to the main downtown streets, less than 5 minute walk to the Guinness storehouse, with a grocery store and local pubs just around the corner.
Aoife provided fresh bread and eggs upon our arrival which was very thoughtful and most welcomed for weary travelers.
Aoife and her husband were quick and helpful to respond to any questions we had.
We recommend anyone traveling to Dublin to stay with Aoife.
Aoife was fantastic- welcomed us when we landed unexpectedly WAY earlier. Was really accommodating to my large family.
Infelizmente passamos pouco tempo em Dublin, por contingências da viagem. O apartamento é muito acolhedor, limpo, em um local tranquilo e ao mesmo tempo perto dos pontos turisticos principais. Recomendo!
Very central and clean appartment. Aoife is a wonderful and easy host, the communication went fast and effective. We enjoyed our stay in Dublin very much!
My family and I stayed at this apartment for a few days and overall had a pleasant time. David, the host took care of the payed street parking right outside. We had no problems getting around by foot and there are plenty of grocery stores around. Kitchen was nicely equipped. The place is not super modern but was very cozy. Staircase leading to top floores was a bit steep for my aging mother in law but otherwise no problems. Good communication with hosts.
