Family friendly household in an 80s modern condo development. This condo will remind you of ski resort vacation rentals across the east coast - with wood trim, a very vertical layout, and a centrally located wood burning stove - but we are located less than a mile from Harvard Square in western Cambridge. The room to rent is the master bedroom suite, complete with its own full bath. We prefer the smaller top bedroom with a skylight, which leaves you with the largest bedroom / bathroom in the house all to yourself.
Out your windows is Mt Auburn Cemetery, which was founded in 1831. With 170 acres covered by over 5,500 trees of nearly 700 varieties, it looks and feels more like an arboretum that happens to have tombs and chappels and monuments in it. Of special interest in warmer months is the tower in the center, from which you can look out across Boston almost to the bay... all for free, all right across the street. Bird watchers love it.
We are located less than 150 feet from a bus stop serviced from the 71 and 73 lines, which run from Harvard Station (Red Line) very frequently. The bus ride from there to here is generally about 8 minutes long. If you're flying in with just a rolling carry-on, there's really no need for a rental car or taxi, as the Silver Line / Red Line / Bus route can get you here in an hour for less than $5.
Additional amenities we can offer include:
- A well-stocked kitchen which you're free to use
- A pack & play crib for an infant / small child to sleep in
- 2 bikes (older 21-speed road bikes) and an old-but-serviceable Burley trailer to use
- Free wi-fi (of course)
We love to show people the neighborhood. We look forward to meeting you!

It was such a please to stay with Megan, Kyle, and their daughter, Annika. I recently moved to the area and they were great resources (as well as very patient!) re: which neighborhoods to visit during my apartment search, restaurants to check out, etc. They truly went above and beyond to accommodate me during this transition period and I feel very fortunate to have befriended them.
Megan and her family were lovely hosts! We arrived REALLY late because of traffic, so I felt pretty terrible about it.
The room was perfect, the location was super convenient, and I had a perfect experience.
Superb! I met Megan's husband Kyle and her beautiful daughter. Kyle was super nice and welcoming and I felt much at ease when I got to their house after long flights and a really tiring day.
The locations is obviously perfect! :)
Megan and Kyle were very inviting and their home is beautiful. I would definitely pick them next time I'm outside Boston.
Megan gave my girlfriend and me the opportunity to live very close to Harvard Square for almost 2 weeks. The experience was very good, we had the bus number 71 and 73 to come quickly to Harvard. The house has all that you need and the family is very friendly and helpful.
I had a great time staying at the Urban Ski Chalet. Megan and her husband were really helpful and Megan even rode a bicycle with me to the city to show me the way. It's a lovely location just a walk away from Harvard.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Megan & Kyle were great hosts from day one. The house was like a home to me during my stay. I had the opportunity to bike around Cambridge and Boston, it was real fun! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with my 'american family', including Gordo the pug! I will miss them -specially little Annika, cutest 3-year-old I have ever played with!
I immediately felt at home walking into Megan's. Megan immediately welcomes you as a member of the family, and invites you to treat the house as your own. Megan and her husband were both at work when I arrived, but I still found check-in to be extremely hassle free. The room itself is lovely. It is quite a large room, with an incredibly comfortable bed, a desk, and sitting area. Filling the entire desk drawer is information about the Boston/Cambridge area. Megan has excellent taste; the room is perfectly decorated. I, unfortunately, did not get to see Megan very often, but my conversations with her were quite lovely. There is a bus stop literally in front of the house! It takes about 5 minutes to get to Harvard Square. If you hop on the Red line at Harvard Square, it is only 3 stops until you are in Boston! This is not a complaint in the least bit (I've lugged my suitcase up even more flights of stairs), but there are a good number of stairs to your room. Just be prepared to carry your suitcases. If a tiny girl like me can carry her extremely large suitcase up those stairs with no problems, you should not be complaining one bit! I highly recommend Megan as a host to anyone staying in the Boston area!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, from the warm greeting by my hosts to the clean and comfortable room.
