I'd like to address the reasons Rachel gave in her private review for this negative rating:
1) Television wasn't online - the Smart TV remote can be a bit counterintuitive, but it is assuredly online and always connected to a home Netflix account. Rather than messaging and asking how to work the remote, Rachel just assumed it was broken and dinged us.
2) Rachel was unable to find the Nespresso pods (two whole bags of them were in a see-through container right next to the espresso machine) and again, rather than messaging us to ask, just assumed we had no coffee on offer. She also thought the French press was missing a screen, but when I arrived to clean up I found it beneath the half-pot of coffee she'd made and left. Again, a simple message would have resolved this quickly, but Rachel decided to stay silent and ding us.
3) Rachel dinged us on the location, even though she wrote about how nice it was. She seemed upset that Uber costs 50 dollars into Manhattan. She never asked about this before booking, after booking, or at any point during the stay - the one time she did ask for arrival information, it was based on public transportation and I left her a detailed response. She could have easily calculated the price of an Uber ride into Manhattan before booking using the app, but she did not do that either. Instead, she opted to leave a bad review. The listing, by the way, includes very detailed instructions on public transportation into Manhattan (and because she only asked about public transportation, I was surprised to see such complaints about Uber).
Overall, I was very surprised that Rachel, who is also an Airbnb host, would leave such a surprising and negative review without asking us any questions about any of the items she complained about. This came as a shock to me, as all our other guests have been 100% satisfied. Please take her 3 stars with a big grain of salt.
