Good practical location with nice views.
The house is large and clean, with a large private terrace and courtyard which would be lovely in warmer weather than we had! Amazing views of the city and surroundings, especially at sunset. The heating/AC unit was located in the uppermost room (kitchen and living area), which probably works well to cool in the summer heat, but did not work well for heating the downstairs bedrooms. We were a bit cold, and tended to huddle up in the warmth before reluctantly descending to our cold beds. Also, be warned that the hot water heater is not large, and with four people showering, it will run out of hot water. Our host Menekse was very friendly, available for questions, and accommodating. She did offer to try to get more heaters over to us but we didn't want to bother about it. The only thing missing was a coffee maker of some sort, but we made do. The location is decent, be prepared to back the car out for a couple of blocks because of the cul-de-sac, and carry suitcases up quite a few stairs. Everything was pretty close by, and it was fun to look out the window and see chickens roaming the street! Selcuk is small (we ran into Menekse once while walking!) but has some great restaurants. We followed Menekse's recommendations and ate at both Ejder and Tat near the Roman Aquaducts. Both were friendly with delicious food, particularly Ejder. There is plenty to sightsee in the area within 30 minutes of driving, and it is only a 10 minute walk to the town center. All in all a great choice for our party of 4.
We had a wonderful stay here, due to both the very comfortable house with its amazing view, and the incredible help we had from Menekse at the agency. Selcuk was a quiet and very convenient place from which to visit Ephesus and the surrounding area. The location has a certain rustic charm with tractors parked on the streets, yet it is still close to the town centre. Menekse organised a number of trips for us, including a driver to pick us up from the ferry at Marmaris, and an extraordinary day trip to Pammukale and Aphrodisias. She made our visit highly memorable.
The house was exactly as described : very clean, with big bedrooms and bathrooms with hot water at all times, air conditioning, and everything that was necessary.
The terrace with the view is amazing and really nice for drinks/dinner after a day of visits and/or beach.
The area where the house is located is really nice and quiet and feels like a typical turkish village, far from the mass tourism, which is exactly what we were looking for. It is very close to Selçuk town centre.
Our host Menekçe was extremely nice and welcoming, she gave us plenty of advice on things to do in the area and was very helpful with everything.
We had a lovely experience here and highly recommend this place to anyone.
Very warm welcome and supportive through out our stay. The neighborhood felt safe. It is a working class neighborhood, with chickens, cats and kids and little old ladies sitting on curbside visiting each other and respond warmly to a smile and "mahabar." Ephesus in August is very hot. The living area of the home wonderfully air conditioned, but sleeping areas downstairs very hot. Luckily the sofabed in the living area is very comfortable. So at least two people slept well. The two fans pulled a bit of the cool air down, but the very back bedroom stayed at about 100 degrees all night.
