The Island Oaks is bright and sunny, situated among mature oak trees at one of the high points along South Road. The front of the house is a 24' screened in porch with a lovely view, including some views of Casco Bay and the horizon. The house is centrally located with a short walk to the beach, Island Market and the "Niblic" which offers deli take out and gifts. A great place to put up your feet on the porch or explore the island. (Note: please check Maine Guidelines for visiting the state.)

The space
The Island Oaks is on a hill on South Road, in an area known as the historic “Massachusetts Colony.” From the front porch and upstairs, you can see the open ocean through the trees. This home is on 16 acres, with woods on both sides and behind the house; surrounded on all sides by big old oak trees, giving a feeling of privacy.

Honestly, the house looks a bit dark from the road, but every room is bright and sunny with lots of big windows… especially the sunroom.

The kitchen is fully stocked with all of the cooking supplies and dishes to satisfy a seasoned foodie. Appliances include oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge, all spiffy and clean. How big is the kitchen? There is plenty of space for more than one cook. Meals can be at a smaller eat-in kitchen table or the full-sized dining table in the adjacent room. But please! Have breakfast on the porch! The sunroom off the back of the house is warmly traditional tongue-and-groove pine walls and ceiling and a great spot to read a book….for peace and quiet just close the door into the house and open the windows.

The house has three bedrooms. The first floor bedroom has a king sized bed and an adjacent bathroom. The second floor has two bedrooms. One over-sized double bedroom is the size of the entire front of the house and sleeps four, twin beds on one end and a queen bed on the other end divided by a privacy screen. The picturesque window is from this front bedroom. The second upstairs bedroom sleeps two on a full-sized bed. Four generations of our family have slept on this bed and used the bureau. The upstairs bathroom is a “Jack and Jill” with a pocket sliding door to divide the bathroom into two sides: shower/sink and toilet/vanity sink. Handy for sharing among the upstairs guests.

Full washer and dryer is thoughtfully on the first floor.

There is a porch along the entire front of the house. Ahhhh.

What is included? All sheets and bedding. Internet. A few good bikes. Beach chairs. Lots of birds. Walks on trails in the back woods and walks to the beach. Your hosts are “Air BnB Superhosts” with several years of experienced hosting. Eliza Jane Adams has been a life-long summer resident with family connections in the area and ready to welcome you to island living. Husband Rocky Helpin adds the right touch of Canadian friendliness.

Let us welcome you and help with your arrival on the island.
