About this listing
My creekside home is the perfect downtown location to enjoy all that Ketchikan has to offer. Right on the boardwalk trail that leads to Creek Street this is the best way to experience quintessential old world Ketchikan. Full size bedroom ideal for 2
Richard Bach, author of Johnathan Livingston Seagull and Illusions walked through my door one day and insisted on visiting. He said: "I have to stay here". You may well feel the same way. My home is down home comfortable and exudes an aura of calm where stories are shared. The waterfall next to the house is soothing and time slows down. Here is a special place that I have the privilege to call home and share with guests and friends. A glass front wood stove crackles and a driftwood rocking chair creaks beneath you as you gaze out the window over the creek watching the salmon leaping on their last journey home to spawn. It is a place of quiet reflection, inspired meals, baked bread, red wine and laughter shared.
Guests will have access to the main floor, dining room and kitchen. A laundry is available for $5 per load. A shelf in the refrigerator is for your use.
The bathroom is shared. Continental breakfast.
Interaction with Guests
Interaction is on a case by case basis. I have a separate hair salon in the back of my property where I style hair so visiting tends to wander around my schedule. I try to run a Kosher household so I would appreciate no pork products in my home!
The creek, the waterfall and the quick access to shopping and the ocean. The neighborhood is busy with locals and tourists and plenty of time is spent chatting over fences.
There is a public bus stop is a short walk around the block from the house and can be ridden for $1.00 accessing all the major sites in Ketchikan.
Other Things to Note
My home was built in 1917 and the bedroom is on the second floor up a flight of fairly narrow stairs. The shared bathroom is on the lower floor. Guests with mobility issues will not enjoy this! I also have two Dachsunds, who will bark at you when you come in the door but will adore you after you stroke their ears! Dog lovers will appreciate this, but if you are allergic or ambivalent about dogs my home may not be a good fit for you. .. I have a bicycle that you are welcome to use. The spokes and handlebars a rusty, it would love to see some pavement and the bike trail along the waterfront. … I am a hairstylist and massage therapist, if you think you may want one or both of these services we need to schedule early to make sure there is room for you.
I ask for smokers to do so outside. I try to run a Kosher household in Ketchikan which is nigh on impossible but would ask that no pork products be brought into the home. You are welcome to use the food products in the refrigerator or cupboard unless specifically noted.
Cathy was a wonderful and gracious host. We shared coffee each morning and had some wonderful conversation when I wasn't running around. I was in Ketchikan for a work trip and not as a tourist, so it was a different experience for Cathy but she rolled with my schedule and made sure I had everything I needed. She was even trying her hand at bagels while I was there and I took her up on her offer!
The house is nestled right on Ketchikan Creek near a viewing platform and the boardwalk that heads to downtown or Creek Street, so it's in a perfect location. My meeting was at the lodge right above the Inn, so it was in a great spot for me to go back and forth.
Between Cathy's great personality and warm conversation, the terrific location, and the comforts of home, I would highly recommend staying here and I will the next time I'm in Ketchikan.
Cathy has been a very sweet, friendly, and available host ! She not only picked us up from the ferry station but took us to an incredible trip to see the bears and we saw them ! Thank you Cathy for your hospitality !
I am glad that you had as much fun as I did. Seeing a bear swim was a first time experience for me that I will never forget, nor will I forget how close he had been to us before he got into the water. Wow! Thank you for sharing this very special time in your life with me.
Being able to stay right next to Historic Creek Street was an experience I’ll never forget, nor was the warm, friendly welcome from Cathy and her adorable dogs. Before you even enter her home you are captivated by the sounds of the creek, abundance of salmon swimming upstream and the crisp, fresh air. Cathy made my wife and I feel very welcomed. Cathy was hospitable and very accommodating. We slept comfortably in our room and feel asleep to the creek flowing every night. Her home is cozy and comfortable. Located steps to Creek Street and great restaurants. This was our second Airbnb experience and we were very happy with Cathy and her home. We thank her very much for opening up her home to us, giving us restaurant and attraction ideas and being so friendly.
Jim and I stayed at Cathy's for a week while visiting Ketchikan. We had an absolutely great time. Cathy was a gracious host serving wonderful coffee each morning. We were invited for breakfast to share her home smoked salmon and homemade bagels. It was amazing. As we were visiting our son who lives in Ketchikan, we were coming and going all the time. We felt at home. She offered her kitchen for our use. Her home is located so conveniently close to downtown that we were able to walk to most placqes downtown. The sound of the rushing creek was a great way to go to sleep. The pups made themselves at home on my lap. We had a great time.
The location was fantastic. Very close to downtown and easy to access a lot of must-see places and tourist spots. Cathy was welcoming and when we could we shared breakfast and dinner together.
Cathy is a great host and very hospitable! I was in Ketchikan for work and when the dates changed on me, she was so helpful and helped me find a new date to visit and stay at her beautiful B&B. I would DEFINITELY recommend her in the future!
Cathy is a gracious and very helpful host. She made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived, greeting me at the door with her two dachshunds, and her grandson who was visiting from Oregon.
I travel to Ketchikan once a year for business. Cathy's house is well situated in the historic part of town, so if you have business downtown, or want to see historic Ketchikan, this is a good place for you.
From the upstairs guest bedroom, you can hear the creek, which flows right next to Cathy's house. Cathy provides lots of fresh towels and a nice down comforter for the bed. The bathroom is downstairs, but there was never an issue about sharing, and the bath is spotlessly clean.
Cathy has lived in Ketchikan for many years, and is a good source for locating fishing guides and recommending places to see. If you are in to having a nice discussion about life in general, and kicking back, Cathy enjoys a good conversation.
