Also, we provide you with up to two days free of charge wood supply for the fireplace. If you need more wood after that, we can supply it for an additional extra charge.
We can arrange a taxi service as well to go back to the airport or somewhere else. Let us know ahead of time. Most taxi companies close at 9pm. I do like to interact with my guests when possible but travellers are mostly busy most of the time, visiting archeoological sites or enjoying the large and diverse variety of restaurants outside. Besides I have a clear understanding of people’s privacy so I often greet my guests upon arrival and say goodbye to them on check out day. I have had so many great experiences and I love what I do. Talking to me or finding me at my house won’t be a problem.
The Centro Historico is up and running, though vibrant it is statistically the safest neighborhood in the Cusco City, it is named this way after its historical position and its colonial and Andean streets. Clean and safe, close to grocery stores and Avenida El Sol, one of Cusco main and biggest street.

And yes, it is safe to walk at night around the apartment. Groups of two or more should not have any problem coming late or at 3am. The apartment was perfect and exactly as described. Monica was a friendly and helpful host and it was a short walk from the apartment to all the downtown activity.
My two kids, wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Monica's place. The cabin is very charming and beautifully decorated. Although not in the most attractive part of town, it is just 6 blocks away from where all the action is. Monica herself was very welcoming, responsive, non-intrusive, and accommodating. During the colder days we specially enjoyed the available firewood. The place was very clean and well equipped, except maybe for the kitchen (we missed having some additional small plates and large salad bowls). Overall, very good value.
El apartamento estaba muy limpio y en un lugar seguro. Nuestra anfitriona, Monica Patricia, nos trato con much profesionalismo y calidad desde el momento en que llegamos hasta la hora en que partimos.
This is a very sweet and charming apartment. Loved the fireplace and the coziness of the living room. Also a very pretty outdoor space. Monica gave us an intro to the house and the neighborhood and left a terrific map as well as book with lots of listings.
The apartment is in a residential neighborhood, which is dense with cars and people and local restaurants. A 15 minute walk to Plaza des Armas.
Monica was helpful in having her driver pick us up from the airport and in calling taxis for us. It's also easy to hail a cab anywhere on the street.
The downside: the apartment in behind a gate that is locked with a heavy lock that was often difficult to open (even when we pushed on the piece as per Monica's directions). If there had been a fire or another emergency and you needed to evacuate quickly this could be a death trap. I did ask Monica why we were behind a locked gate and she said the neighborhood was dangerous. So take that for what it is if you decide to stay here.
Hot water - we knew from reading other reviews that you need to turn on the hot water an hour before you need it. Not a problem. There were three of us, but despite taking short showers we could only get enough hot waster for 2 showers. The third shower was always tepid.
The apartment is also rustic, older so not insulated. We were there in the Peruvian summer and it was very chilly. There are two room heaters in each bedroom. We did need to light a fire and take one of the bedroom heaters downstairs to be comfortable.
Most importantly, as a host myself, when I know of a problem in my rental I address it immediately to prevent injuries to a renter. As has been mentioned the stairs in the apartment are very slippery. Monica let us know that when we came in. But why not just put some treads on the stairs for safety? Then there is no need for a warning or for worry. I know as hosts we all do things differently, but I think common sense should prevail here, especially as the bathrooms are on the first floor so a middle of the night trip can be a dangerous time on the stairs.
Also our daughter had to be hospitalized while we were there. Again, as a host, this is something that has happened on occasion to our guests. I have gone above and beyond in helping them out. For example, canceling a reservation myself, getting someone a key so they could get into the house even if I wasn't there. But, that's just me. It's obviously not everyone...
Monica's duplex is ideally located in Cusco, tucked away in a safe neighborhood with easy access to the Plaza de Armas and the spectacular Qurikancha.
With that said, Monica was a protective host who did not always make us feel welcome. She reacted with disbelief when we requested a slight change in our reservation. Also, the apartment was cold at night and heaters weren't functional. The apartment does have a fireplace, but Monica charged us for firewood. Finally, the hot water only allowed two showers before needing an hour to refill. Our group of five had to schedule showers accordingly.
It is a cozy spot, ideally located and well furnished. Just be aware when making a reservation that it will afford scant flexibility and comes with strict rules.
I am sorry to hear you felt that way. Unfortunately I am not able to modify reservation with one day notice. I understand that sometimes people get carry away in their trips and this get extended more days than plan, but you should have read my policy when doing your reservation.
Regarding the wood, you were provided enough log for two days initially, plus an extra day as a courtesy FREE OF CHARGE, perhaps you will need to check with your group before making negative comments. Besides, you never had to pay for the wood, but would USD 2.50 a day would have been too much for a group of 5 people that you rather preferred to be cold to pay 0.50 cents each?
As for the showers, yes that is an issue in all Cusco, not just in the apartments I have. Hot water is a luxury here in Cusco and I provide the best option, which is a hot water tank that supplies the water on demand. All people taking showers in the morning will definitely exhaust the tank capacity by the 4th person. But I explain that to you upon arrival, so I do not understand why everybody decide to take showers in the morning all at once.
As an airbnb host yourself you should know that sometimes it is difficult to please everybody's needs and stay competitive and affordable to all.
Be well and good luck in your business.
Great location!! This AirBnB is a little spendy, but the location is perfect & it's spacious and safe. We walked to the main plaza many times, and it's conveniently located near a supermarket too. The house is comfortable.
Monica was very helpful and her place was as described. Monica took the time to speak with our tour company to arrange the details of where to pick us up and then followed up with the company when they were late.
