A perfect Airbnb experience. From the pickup at the train station to the well stocked pantry - every small detail was attended to. Guido went above and beyond and we would happily return.
Das Haus war noch schöner als ich mir das eigendlich vorgestellt habe.
Ich war also sehr zufrieden.
Der Gastgeber hat zur Begrüssung Sekt und einen fast vollen Kühlschrank bereitgehalten.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time in Como. Thank you Guido for being a great host! The house is beautiful and the views from both the balconies were great and just like the photos. Chilled Prosecco on arrival was a beautiful touch. Guido was very happy to provide advice about restaurants and places to see. This was really helpful. We will definitely recommend friends and family to stay here.
Guido very kindly picked us from the train station, drove us to the house and helped us up the stairs (all 75 of them) with our luggage. He made us very welcome showing us around the house so we knew where everything was, demonstrating how the washing machine and the dishwasher worked and gave tips on restaurants in the area. He even left a lovely welcome package.
The house is very clean and airy with plenty of windows to enjoy the view. There are places in the garden to sit in the sun or under an umbrella.
The area is very quiet, especially at night. As the house is above the road there are no street lights to shine in the windows. The external stairs from the road to the house have lighting but the switches are difficult to find. Remember to ask Guido to show you where the switches are.
Como is a great place for a holiday. You can stay in the house and relax or make your way down the hill to the shops and restaurants. We spent a couple of days exploring the lake by boat and went into Milan by train on another day.
What a shame.
Beautiful house with amazing views over the town of Como, the Doumo and the Lake. The outside areas of the balcony and front garden were great places to relax and we spent a lot of time outside in the garden enjoying the views.
The inside of the house was very spacious and although there were just 2 of us in the house, it was ample space for 4 people. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything you would need to cook a good meal, with lots of pots, pans, plates, glasses etc + a dishwasher, gas hob, fridge with small freezer and a big dining table.
Finding the place was relatively easy as we used our phone to navigate, but there are lots of one way streets, so it makes sense to be prepared with a good map or a GPS. Outside there is free parking, which is quiet during the day on weekdays, but extremly busy on evenings and weekends. If you have to move your car, it is best to do it during the day on weekdays!
During our stay the cupboard containing the cutlery and pots jammed shut and the handle came away, so we were unable to open it. We texted Guido and he came the next day to try to open it. He mentioned that this had happened before and also that the handle had came away from the dishwasher recently as well (same type of handle). He was unable to open the cupboard, but we told him this was fine as we could survive with a few peices of cutlery and pots for the remainder of our trip.
Shortly after returning home we were extremly disappointed to see that Guido had requested money for a new handle and additionally, an even larger amount for damaging an antique bookcase which resides in a seldom used corridor on the lower level.
So overall, although we loved this place, I have to give it an overall low rating due to the owner's actions requests for money after the trip.
Pros: Nice view, large house, very nicely decorated, well equipped.
Cons: Very steep hill to reach the house, hard to park in the evenings/weekends, unexpected claims for money from the host
When I have checked the house after the check out I found a 'b&b italia' bookcase (not old but very expensive) scratched and the handle was however broken. I asked to use the deposit and I asked a price lower than the real price I need to have both new. I am sorry but in Italy we say, 'if you break, you pay'.
I had guest that broke a glass and left me money without asking, this is education.
It has been a perfect stay at guido's house. The house si very lovely with all cumfort for our family. And the view absolutely astonning. Every day and every night, WE were admiring the view
Guido si a marvellous host : when WE arrived, he welcomed us with an almost full refrigerator (with proseeco) and a lots of adresses and tips to enjoy our stay.
Because of he, WE have discover this absolutely beautiful city and aroundness.
And again, this house si perfect, high - Really very high - but perfect : very well decorated and very well placed-ten minutes from the duomo
