Enjoy hiking, canoeing, horseback riding and cycling from my centrally located cottage in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. I am close to the train station, the prehistoric caves and museum. 12 km to the 5 Buddhist centers in Saint-Leon-sur-Vezere.
Walk out the front door and take a series of trails into the village of Les Eyzies or all the way to Turnac. Explore nearby caves and castles, swim or canoe in the river then attend a night market. Great website for planning purposes is
Guests have access to the kitchen and are welcome to cook. In fact, I encourage my guests to make themselves at home. Guests are responsible for their own food.
Interaction with Guests
I love the area where I live and enjoy my guests. I am always available to answer questions and make recommendations. I am new to airbnb but not to hosting and love to hear about my guests travels.
I love this area of the Perigord so rich in history and things to see and do. My home is best suited to people who enjoy exploring the surrounding prehistoric sites and the out-of-doors. I am close to many caves and castles including Font-de-Gaume, as well as the five main Buddhist enclaves in and around Moustier and Saint-Leon-Sur-Vezere.
To get around the Vezere Valley, one must have a car a bicycle or a strong walking constitution. Parking is next to my house. I am about 2 hour east of Bordeaux, 40 minutes from Bergerac airport or 2 1/2 from Toulouse. Trains come into Les Eyzies via Perigeux.
Other Things to Note
Ferme de Fonluc is right down the road from house and offers great sight-seeing on horseback. A magical way to see the Vezere Valley. Book a morning or all day ride . . . it is well worth it and Herbert's horses are, in my opinion, the best in the area.
My home is a non-smoking home and shoes are left inside by the door. There is an outdoor area for guests who smoke. The kitchen and living area is available for guests use. Check-in is between 4PM and 6PM if you are arriving outside these hours please make arrangements with me.
Ce séjour a été un vrai plaisir. La gentillesse de Kathleen n'a d'égale que sa discrétion. Je vous recommande cette adresse. Merci de notre séjour.
Kathleen was a very good host to us - all arrangements went very smoothly and the communication was instantenous. Kim also was kind enough to offer us a lift from the airport in Bergerac, then to the Font du Gaume. The little house was cozy and homely, clean and warm and our host was very welcoming. We could use the kitchen, which I always appreciate. The house is set amonst the trees, only a short lovely walk to town through the forest, listening to the birds' singing on the way. It's all so safe and friendly there, we loved the area very much. Strongly recommended, thank you Kim, we loved staying with you! Maria and Phil
My time with Kathleen was shorter than even planned because I got lost, but the house and setting we're beautiful and Kathleen helped me negotiate the unfamiliar neighborhood. The place is quite rural and a car is required.
It was a great experience. Kathleen was really warm with us. She made us feel like at home. The room is very comfortable and the kitchen a wonderful place where we share memorable moments. We will remember these days for very long time. It was more than a trip, we feel we make friends and we want to come back again. We want also to thank Kathleen and his friend for everything, the company, the great sense of humor, the canoe trip, the long meals, the visit to Saint Leon Sure Vezere. We truly recommend this option.
Kathleen was an amazing host--from start to finish. She gave us the information we needed and more to feel friendly in the region, her home, and getting to her home. She was readily available via email, phone and during our stay--offering inside information about places to go and things to do. We only wish we had had more time there to spend with her.
The house is located quite close to town, so with a car it was easy to come and go without it being a major ordeal. And, tucked just enough in to the woods that it made for a great place to walk around when we wanted to stay in for the night. While the house was small, it felt quite cozy--especially the airbnb room. The beds were comfy, the blankets warm, and there were special details around the room--like trash cans, towels provided, places to hang clothes and a fan. Down stairs we were free to use the kitchen as needed and enjoy the back yard. Kathleen was also flexible with our travel plans--and even allowed us to do laundry there. I left Les Eyzies feeling that we had been looked after and well-cared for in comfortable and relaxing accommodations.
Kathleen was a great hostess for me and my son. We enjoyed our holidays in Dordogne and a part of it is due to Kathleen and Benoit. We really feel welcomed at her place. We really feel at home during our stay. Her house, althought little, is completely comfortable. Lovely house, lovely people. Thanks for all Kathleen. We'll probably come back if you stay in the woods!!

I am an American free lance writer living in France, I am interested in and write about people in the arts, mainly other writers, artists and composers. I am also fascinated with the "Valley of the Humans" where I currently live and spend time exploring then writing about the many prehistoric sites and the bastides, villages, towns, hamlets and cities, the many markets and wonderful festivals. It is an area rich in tradition populated by a fiercely proud people who have remained amazingly friendly in the face of many changes and centuries of war. .
