Let The Granary be your best "Glamping" experience ever!
Original building from the early 1900's refinished into a cozy guest cottage. Enjoy the gardens, and lovely 2 acre property. A 25 minute drive takes you to Saugatuck, Fennville or Holland to enjoy all the tourism West MI has to offer. There's lots to see &do without worry of over crowded areas! :-) Large water pitcher, basin, flushing camping toilet. (there is no hot water shower.) Backyard pool available. (No guest Pets).

The space
Looking forward to welcoming guests old and new in 2023. Time for summer vacation in the country! Keep in mind if you're coming for end of September or October that this is not an insulated building. Electric heater and electric blanket provided to keep the chill off and keep you cozy for sleeping. If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway look no further than Redbud Farm. Lounge in the gardens, take a dip in the pool. (June through early Sept.) Hot water pot and pour over coffee or tea.
YES there is a toilet(battery flush camping/rv toilet). YES there is a wash basin and plenty of good quality clean fresh water. There is a new full bathroom available! THE FULL BATHROOM WITH SHOWER, IS IN A SEPARATE BUILDING AND IS COLD WATER ONLY. The pool is open June through early September. No A/C but a window fan keeps it comfortable for anyone not ultra sensitive to heat. That said...
The Granary is your cozy and relaxing home away from home. You won't need to worry about crowds. Enjoy lounging in a chair while smelling the flowers, stroll through the gardens, swim in the pool, or even feed the chickens. If you're looking for more nature, check out the Rabbit River nature preserve, just a few miles away. If you like to golf, Diamond Springs golf course is just 2 miles away. I hear it is a great course with 18 holes.
There are excellent restaurants and breweries within a 25 minute scenic drive. We're centrally located between scenic Saugatuck and Grand Rapids- Beer City USA. You'll find a list of restaurants and breweries in The Granary and I'm happy to answer any questions and give tips on local tourism.
Staying away from restaurants? Pack a picnic or grab some take away and enjoy in privacy back on the farm.

Guest access
Please READ for all information.
The Granary is your private space! Check in 3pm or after. Guests are free to use the pool, relax about the grounds, use the big barn, enjoy the fire pit,(wood bundles $5) basically make yourselves at home. There is No Full bath or shower at this time. No air conditioner(box fan in window). The pool is open though! Guests have access to pool anytime June through early September and there are easily accessible taps outdoors for water. Water is pure and good to drink.
It's a lovely rustic "glamping" experience. LGBTQ Friendly:-)

During your stay
I will typically do my own thing in the house or gardens but will happily engage with guests as well. I may be working in the garden, or taking a dip in the pool after work, so I will be around, but of course am very respectful of guests privacy. If I can give any travel tips or answer any questions, I'm happy to help either in person, through the app, or via text.

Other things to note
Due to Covid there is No Access to my house. This means No full bathroom or shower available at this time. It's currently more like a "Glamping" experience. :-)
The pets currently on the property include four barn cats. Maisie the Old Time Scotch Collie. She is wonderful and will likely greet guests with joy and enthusiasm. All animals are healthy and friendly...they'll happily run over to you if you call them and offer attention. There are also 5 chickens. I no longer host guest pets because of all the animals here. Too much chance of an incident.
For colder time of year there is an electric blanket and electric heater but this space is not insulated. It is a rustic, shabby chic barn stay.
Due to the pool and animals and fancy gardens, not a suitable stay for young children please.

This is a 3 season rental and will not be available from November through March. Looking forward to seeing you April through October!

Neighborhood highlights

There is nothing like life in the country. It is peaceful and beautiful. I love the green, the flowers, and that a traffic jam is a few cars stuck behind a tractor! The locals keep to themselves, although I have great relationships with my 2 closest neighbors. They would be happy to help in case of emergency. The neighborhood is very safe, I've never had or heard of a home or car break in during the 10 years I've lived in Diamond Springs.
Burnips (north east ) or Hamilton(west) are the closest towns for a bite to eat, about an 8 minute drive. Both offer good diners for breakfast. If you don't mind sort of greasy all American menus they are fine for lunch or dinner as well, Burnips offers a restaurant/bar.
There are two golf courses, Diamond Springs golf course is 2 miles and Lake Monterey golf course is 4 miles.
There's the most AMAZING ice cream shop- Fantasy Twirl, just 5 minutes north- huge portions, low prices, and excellent ice cream quality!
Horseback riding and wagon/buggy rides 5 minutes south at Wild West Ranch.
Fawn Meadow Vineyards just a couple miles down my street (this is seasonal and they are not yet making wine). ..you pick grapes, and grape juice...a fun family stop.
That's pretty much it for my neighborhood. Keep in mind that out in the country we measure our blocks in miles, so this is all within a two to eight mile radius from the farm. :-)

Hi! I'm a friendly person who enjoys traveling and learning about other people and cultures. I've realized that there is so much to learn about micro cultures right here in the U.S.A., although I've done a decent amount of traveling abroad as well. I enjoy breweries, hiking, camping, reading, horseback riding, and antiquing,to name a few hobbies. I own a landscaping company and do floral design for landscapes, pots, window boxes etc. ..I LOVE my job and feel so fortunate to say that's true. Looking forward to the next adventure! Emily ;-)
