Enjoy a unique and personal experience with us in our home! Our guest bedroom is cozy and comfortably fits two with 180* ocean view. A perfect place for those who seek respite from busy tourist areas and explore all that South Kona has to offer. We are located 1.25 hours from Kailua-Kona and one hour from Volcano National Park!! Recommended for people who do not wish to be in Kailua-Kona every day or who do not mind a long drive.

The space

Our home is nestled on an acre lot in the Mioli'i area featuring fruit trees, native plants, and flowers, as well as breath taking sunsets. An hour from Kailua-Kona (36 miles of curvy country roads between) and an hour from Volcano, our location is perfect for the adventurous type who want to get out and see the island! The room has its own private entrance and private bathroom. The room is made cozy with a full bed, fresh linens, and features a refrigerator, microwave, drinking water, and coffee pot. A welcome package is our way of saying "mahalo" to our guests. The room is equipped with TV with Direct TV, and guest wifi.
We have snorkel gear, body boards, pool noodles, a cooler, and beach towels available for use. Guests are welcome to explore the property, checking out the various fruit trees and the pineapple patch. However, it is rough lava rock and we encourage taking care when walking around. We work to have needs met before arrival but if there is anything a guest needs we can do our best to make it available.

My husband and I live in the main part of the house full time. We work full time but one of us is typically around. We are available for questions and to assist in anyway we can. We will not enter the space during the stay unless in case of emergency or if asked to by the guests.

We live in Mioli'i above the only fishing village left in the state. It is a off the beaten path, a quiet neighborhood, and most of us rise and fall with the sun, going to bed early and waking up early to get the most out of the day. There are stunning sunsets and star gazing at night. We live a few miles up the road from Honomalino Bay, a black sand beach where dolphins frequent. From our lanai whales can be seen playing during the winter time.

Renting a car would be necessary to stay in this area, parking is available.

We have two very friendly dogs named Ximen (chi-men) and Eme who love to interact with people. Ximen will often greet you when coming home and loves affection and to be pet. They are kept on the lanai when we are not home, with closed gates.

We expect guests to treat our home with respect as they would treat their own. We do not allow guests to bring other unapproved guests without prior notification/permission. A stay agreement will be signed upon arrival with more detail. This is available via email for anyone who wishes to read it prior to arrival. We love the simplicity of our life, this includes a water catchment system. What is water catchment you ask!? It's basically a big container that catches rain water and that is what our running water comes from. Because of this we use our water sparingly and would appreciate if our guests keep this in mind. We ask guests to be courteous to our neighbors and avoid being overly loud. We appreciate non-smokers.

Annie, and her "hubby" Oscar, are super cool. They were very kinds people, and they motivate me to forge on with my current path of continuing my education. They were accommodating, and they have good energy. The directions they gave on how to get to their place were very helpful, and the place if very nice and comfortable. They even had suggestions of where to go if you are looking for a certain thing. For me, that was an unforgettable black sand beach, where I hooked up with even more awesome people and did some amazing snorkeling. It was definitely a nice place to call base camp while I went on various adventures and explored the area. Not to mention the beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean was that it comes with. There, every morning and night, I would stare out while I started or ended each day with some reading and writing. It was beautiful, it was healing, it was motivating, and the company was kind. I will keep there place in mind if I am fortunate to visit that area again.

Great stay, beautiful view, quiet area. Annie was easy to get in touch with and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Do follow her advice and stock up on snacks before you arrive, esp if planning trip to Volcanos National Park. There is no food at the park and we were very glad we brought some!

Annie was warm, attentive, and had a fantastic eye for detail. I wanted for nothing while I was here. The room was clean and comfortable--with plenty of amenities like a fridge, coffee maker, and coffee--and had the absolute best view of the sunset on the island. I felt safe, valued, and cared for while I was here. The location is slightly off the beaten path but well worth it for a traveler who wants a peaceful and restorative stay. I used this place as a way station between Kona and Volcanoes Natl Park--it was the perfect oasis in between!!

The view! 180-degree ocean view from the seats outside the room. The room itself is cozy, quiet, and was the perfect spot to retire to after adventuring around the island. Loved it.

I loved this place. It was so quiet and had fantastic sunset views. The room is very clean. The bed comfortable. Toiletries/ sunscreen/ big beach towels/ coffee+tea provided. I really appreciated the chocolates as well. And so nice to have bottles of water nice and cold in the fridge when I arrived. It is about an hour and 10 min drive south of Kona which is great if want a quiet place. But if you have activities based in Kona it is a long drive. Its about a 20 min drive from 2 step beach for good snorkling. I even saw 2 turtles in the water there when I was snorkling.

SPECTACULAR view! Go to sleep listening to the ocean. Perfectly modern and pristine space! Annie and Ben are so very kind and generous. This place is an hour from Kona on long and winding roads. It is a gorgeous drive and you are a 40 minute to the Green sand beach. Many many hikes near by. Can't wait to stay again. OH and super cute dogs!!!

Annie is very attentive and they have put a lot of effort in the room which you can see and adds to the experience. Feels like home. It is nice and calm with a great ocean view. By car you can go anywhere in no time. The bed is comfy and you can lend snorkeling gear. On my last beach trip I got to snorkel and swim with spinner dolphins. If you want to have a real nice and tranquille place, go for this place. You won't regret it.

Aloha! My husband Oscar and I have lived in our home for almost three years. We are lovers of our dogs and cat, drinking coffee, and projects around the house. We love our space and are excited to share it with others!
We are looking for guests who enjoy a quiet get-a-way, who are adventurous, and want to see all the Big Island has to offer. We have a simple life style and hope to share this appreciation with others. We have been on the island for 4+ years and have a lot of information to share, if desired!
