I will be on sabbatical for the 2017-18 academic year and am looking to rent out my furnished house from August to August. Only accepting multi-month (preferably the year) rentals at this time.

My 1960s split level house is minutes from downtown, just over the Blossom St bridge in Cayce. The quiet, wooded neighborhood has easy access to the Riverwalk. Relaxed, welcoming space.

Utilities included.

The space

Approximately 2,200 square foot house. Two bedrooms, each with queen sized beds. A third bedroom serves as an office, with a desk and a sofa bed. A crib (not included) could fit.

Two full baths (one en suite, one off hall).

Small, but well-supplied kitchen. Separate dining area.

Living room and den. Fenced back yard with patio furniture, charcoal grill, and fire pit.

Guest access

Whole house, with the exception of a locked storeroom.

Interaction with guests

I have a busy life, so after check-in there may be minimal interaction. However, I will do anything I can to make sure your visit is comfortable. All guests can call me anytime on my cell. I am a professor at USC and happily try to accommodate the needs of graduate students and visiting fellows.

Other things to note

I have a large dog, so there will always be residual dog hair. This is not the place for someone who is highly allergic.

Allison is a wonderful host. Prior to arriving Allison's communication was outstanding. I spent the from June until August in her home and though she was out of town the entire time, she was very responsive to any issues that arose. Allison gave me very clear instructions of getting into the house and had some helpful information prepared so I could easily find my way around town. The house is just as she portrays and in a great location to reach downtown Columbia (<10 minutes) or the river walk (with an entrance just below Blossom bridge). Thank you Allison for being kind and making my stay so much nicer than I anticipated.

Allison was out of town so we had the whole place to ourselves, though we weren't there much. It was a very convenient location and the room was very comfortable. Loved the candy treats!

Comfortable and affordable place to stay for a weekend trip to USC! The proximity to the university was very convenient as the drive took less than 10 minutes

Allison was a great host, very quick to respond. House is 30 minutes walk from USC, a flat and easy walk, safe at night. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable.

Perfect experience, exactly as I had hoped! Comfortable home and private bed/bath was just what I needed. Many thanks to Allison and her beautiful mastiff for being great hosts!

My husband and I had a lovely stay at Allison's home. The house is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the Columbia area. It's near the scenic Congaree River and close to campus. The room was perfect for our weekend stay, and everything was spotlessly clean. Allison's a fantastic host (and person!), and I'd recommend her place to couples or visiting academics especially.

Response from Allison:
I want to thank Caroline for her extremely positive review, although I must give pause to her comment on being "spotlessly clean." I really do try, but I have a giant slobbery dog & I fight a daily battle against fur and drool. The dog is not allowed in the guest room or bath, so you should have no problems there, but you might hear the roomba running every night trying to curb the constant creep of dirt she brings in with her frisbee. I always appreciate the cleanliness ratings that generously accommodate my furry friend. I would like to welcome everyone, but if you are looking for the sterility of a hotel, my place is not for you. This is a house where the dog sits on the furniture.
