Nestled in the community gardens of Nomad’s Land is an earthen hobbit house, with a living roof and a bottle wall that lets in glorious colored sunlight. Our hobbit house is constructed from raw wood beams taken from local woods and non-traditional building styles. Snuggle into the queen size canopy bed and enjoy a retreat into another world. Brew a fresh cup of coffee in the French press and enjoy the morning bird song and sounds of nature.

The space
Due to Covid-19, we have made some changes to ensure this is a completely private, socially distanced space to keep you safe and healthy during your stay.
Usually, you would also have access to our large barn with a kitchen, living area, and additional bathroom and shower. Hopefully, this can be opened again soon but for now, you get to enjoy an even more private little getaway!

Your private restroom is just steps from the hobbit house with a hot shower, flush toilet, and sink.

And inside the Hobbit House you have a little kitchenette with a coffee maker, propane oven/stove sink, microwave, a set of dishes, a table and chairs, and a comfy armchair.

Please bring your own coffee and tea. For sanitary reasons, we will not be providing them at this time.

Many folks just like to take it easy and dial down the activity for a true retreat, but there are a wide variety of options for those looking for something to do nearby that would be a safe, socially distant activity.
From hiking Nocallula Falls, bouldering the world-class rocks at Horse Pens 40, or walking the riverwalk and fishing piers off the Coosa River in Gadsden. There are many outdoor activities we can point you towards.

There are several delicious restaurants in nearby Gadsden that offer take-out, from Thai to Italian, to an Irish pub as well as Back Forty, our own local brewery. And there's a great little bakery that is open for takeout called Cothran’s Bakery with delicious doughnuts.

Just so you know, cell signal can be spotty here at the land. T-mobile has the best signal. Other carriers work sometimes but not consistently. The WiFi is often a bit slow but it should work ok from the Hobbit House.

Guest access
You have a lovely covered porch sitting area and a private bathroom steps away. Because of Covid-19 we want to be sure to keep you safe, so the common spaces and the rest of the property is not open to guests at this time. The Hobbit House is located in the middle of our community, so you will see people walking by going about their day, and we ask that everyone please respect social distancing boundaries and that guests please stay within your unit’s spaces. This is very unusual for us and we are so grateful for your cooperation to help keep everyone safe. We look forward to when we can open it back up!

Other things to note
Nomad's Land is a Christ-centered community and retreat. We happily host travelers and wanderers seasonally, in the fall and spring and in a quieter and simpler capacity in the summer. We especially focus our lives on Rainbow Gatherings and the traveling counter-culture. You might run into some tattoos, dreadlocks, hugs and backpacks when visiting our place.
Shared space needs to remain family friendly, with respect to others space and personal property. You can expect that kind of respect from us as well!
Although we love our furry friends, pets are not allowed inside the Hobbit House or any of the common spaces.
If you are looking for a pet friendly space message us- we may have a few options available.
-Illegal DRUGS *including marijuana* will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to ask you to leave without refund upon any indication of possession or use on our property. Thank you for keeping this a safe space.
-Alcohol is not permitted in community spaces.
- Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Please dispose of all butts in the trash.
Thank you!

We love the feel of being tucked into an old time hollow in the South. You feel like you have really gotten away into the woods and have space to breathe. We have an excellent view of the night sky!

Don’t be surprised to hear hunting dogs barking in the distance, someone doing target practice, or hey, was that a coyote howling at the moon?

We also appreciate being just a few minutes from civilization, shopping and a Starbucks coffee shop!

Best of both worlds.
