I recommend Bective mill house to stay in. I was greeted by Anna who was very helpful in showing me around. I had a peaceful night's sleep in an en-suite room above the old forge, a lovely building. Host Mary was lovely and cooked a delicious traditional Irish breakfast and was happy to chat to me, and I also met Oliver who was friendly.
It's a lovely place to stay, whether for one or more nights as the hosts are flexible, friendly and professional. Highly recomended!
Fantastic experience. The building and room were great. The listing sits right on the river boyne and is across from an abbey from the 12th century. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had and I would recommend this listing to anyone who wants to see the countryside of Ireland.
Oliver and Mary were more than accommodating. The house is set in the most picturesque location with a stream running through, a pub 150m away and Bective Abbey ruins about the same distance. Lovely, spacious room and facilities available. Mary's breakfast was amazing! we thoroughly enjoyed our very short stay and would highly recommend anyone staying!
Oliver is a friendly and congenial individual who is very informative and communicative. He was more than willing to visit and discuss many different things and seemed to enjoy doing so. The accommodation, although accurately described, was much more than described. The 400 year old former mill is located next to the River Boyne and is a great example of the beautiful Irish country side and its deep history. The location is perfect for visiting the ancient sights in the vicinity.
A very rustic farmhouse in the countryside with new owners, and seems perfect for fishermen and cyclists touring the countryside. The breakfast was lovely, especially the homemade pancake, and my partner's full Irish was delicious as well.
We had a bit of confusion on arrival as no one was around, but one of the WOOFers living in one of the trailers on the property let us in, and we found our way around.
The wifi worked well so we found a place to eat in one of the nearby towns.
We didn't have access to the lounge, and there was a meditation group so we were told we could join but weren't told whether we were able to use it otherwise, so we just stayed in our room once we figured out the heater (which then worked really well) and went to bed early. It seems very cozy if access to the lounge and fireplace fire-making facilities were available.
In the morning Oliver and his wife were there, and were very friendly and she answered all my questions, which let us leave on a high note.
Definitely visit Newgrange and Knowth if you have time, definitely the best sites in Ireland, and the Hill of Tara is very near of course, but make sure you check out the Abbey across the street, it is amazing, and deserted in the late afternoon, and great to explore!
Esperienza molto positiva.
Absolut empfehlenswert.
