About this listing
Share my large and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment with huge windows, street-side balcony, high ceiling and wooden floor. Un-renovated and furnished in the typical Berlin half vintage, half street-style. (Or ask to book the whole place for up to 5).
// Next week! Sept 29 - Oct 2, one room for one person only discount! //
Your room in a large and comfortable Berlin style "Alt-Bau" apartment with a street-side balcony, high ceiling and wooden floor.
The photos show only one room, but there are two fully furnished 25 square metre double bedrooms with connecting balcony. I live in one side, the other is yours. You may book the whole place if you wish, but you must specifically request it. By default all bookings are for one room. The apartment is un-renovated and furnished in the typical Berlin half vintage half street style. So you can expect the original architectural and ornamental interior style of the area, sporting a romantic amount of damage. The apartment is very cosy, a great place to curl up with a book and listen for not so distant sirens and Kreuzberg chaos. Or a perfect base from which to explore Berlin.
Wireless internet (can be connected to all devices 24/7), dishwasher, gas cooking and heating, 2nd floor (there's no elevator, escalator or anything like that, so I would say it's not wheelchair accessible…), sunshine from 9am - 2pm in Summer, but the curtains will protect you if you want to sleep late.
*This isn't an ideal space for very young children, from 8 or 9 is just fine*
Access all areas, except for my bedroom when I'm home :)
Interaction with Guests
I'm out and about often, but really happy to welcome you in my home and answer any questions to assist you with your adventure.
Stumbling distance from nightlife, 24 hour public transport, Görlitzer Park, local markets and galleries. 12 minutes into the city centre by train. A lazy afternoon in the sun by the canal is only a 5 minute walk away. Berlin's best known clubs (and some you might like to know about…) are within walking distance. Berghain is €12 by taxi or 15 minutes by bicycle.
Every Tuesday and Friday there’s a fresh produce market across the canal at the bottom of the street. There's a great laundromat about a block away, several local supermarkets and night shops, plenty of bars. Everything's affordable still; it's Kreuzberg.
The best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life can be found in a café a short walk from the apartment. It’s unbelievable. They also roast and blend their own coffee beans. This café has saved my life. OMG the cheesecake…
Public transit is very easy and close by, as is cheap bike hire.
12 minutes into the city centre by train.
Taxi to/from the airport: €27 for TXL and €37 for SXF.
Though we're utterly surrounded with bars and clubs and restaurants, this apartment is a little home oasis in the Kreuzberg chaos. Thus, it's not the place for your after-party! You can hear the neighbours and the neighbours can hear you. (A little bit - you just have to be considerate about making noise in the stairs and walk gently late at night!!).
Absolutely do not bring unregistered guests into my home without permission.
Quiet time in the building is from 10p.m. til 8a.m. Basic system to keep our house happy is turn the music down in the evenings and smoke on the balcony or in the kitchen. To keep the neighbours happy: light feet!
It's illegal to download films and music through torrent/file-sharing software in Germany. If you have this software on your computer, make sure it is disabled BEFORE you connect to the internet at my place. The internet password is changed for each booking.
Smokers are welcome to use the balcony.
Jessica was an amazing host! She gave me perfect directions from the airport and gave me some amazing recommendations. The apartment is super charming and in the heart of Kreuzberg, which has a ton of shops and restaurants to check out. Very close to the train so easy to get around. All in all, I had a wonderful stay with Jessica - Looking forward to my next trip back there!
Jessica was great to us! Easy communication, she was very flexible on check in and out times to suit us the best and showed us around the apartement really well. We also got some awesome tips and great adresses. The location is also amazing and we found the appartement handy and clean. With high ceilings and hipster like decorations it was fun living here a few days. I recommend this apartement and hopefully will be back too!
Jessica's flat is a step into old-world Berlin, with the modern amenities of a good hot shower, fat fluffy towels and fast, reliable wifi. Nearby train and bus stations give fast access to anyplace you want to go in Berlin; there are many, many restaurants in the area; and a decent grocery store a few blocks away. This is a lively neighborhood and this flat is in the middle of it all. In addition, Jessica is a great host - she takes the time to talk with you and though busy with her job, responds immediately via phone or text. Cold weather cut my stay short, and I would have liked to spend a few more days here.
Lovely stay at Jessica's home. Big room, comfy bed :). Jessica is a very good hostess en gives you great advice. It was a nice stay @ Kreuzberg-Berlin.
Jessica was an amazing host! Her apartment is in a great location and is very spacious and stylish. Not only did Jessica provide great insider knowledge and recommendations of places to visit, eat and drink, she also made us feel very welcome with her warm and open personality.
Jessica is a great host. She gave helpful advice for getting used to Berlin and granted us some beers :), I strongly reccomend her as a host and as a person. The apartment is a typical Kreuzberg flat. If you want to experience Berlin in its very own way, this is an excellent choice.
Jessica was great! The place was incredible - great location, and kept in good condition. Her suggestions for places to visit were really helpful; it meant that we had the most authentic Berlin experience, and didn't waste any time researching on the internet! She's also a lovely person - always flexible with our timings and requirements and made sure we felt right at home throughout.

About the Host, Jessica
Australian born and raised, I've lived in Kreuzberg, the centre of my Berlin universe, for 7 years now and absolutely consider it home. The city is a mecca for creative and adventurous humans. I go to a concert or live show at least once a week. We're so spoiled here!
I love riding my bike. Meeting for breakfast. I love work, friends, this wicked city which I adore to explore. My desires are simple: a delicious meal, quiet moments in a busy day. To make my world a little more beautiful. I love to read. And I can't live without music.
