small room near downtown & cornell

House - Private room · E Buffalo St, Ithaca, NY 14850, United States

The Space

***The room will not be available for the 2013-2014 academic year. Check back in August of next year for short term stays.***

We have one small guest bedroom with a twin bed in a 3 bedroom house. It's simple but clean and perfectly sufficient for a short stay. We are two female grad students at Cornell (and on most nights there's a recent male Cornell graduate stays over). We're all very clean, respectful, and just overall cool. ;-) We all manage this page together so you can expect to hear from any one of us.

The house is very close to downtown area "the Commons" (full of restaurants, shops, cafes, etc...) and a short (but up-hill) walk to Collegetown and Cornell. The bus system in Ithaca is very good and we're very close to a few bus stops including "Seneca @ Commons" - you can find more bus info by googling TCAT.

We have free wifi and a television with a DVD player (no cable though). There is a large and well-equipped kitchen with plenty of pots and pans you can use. There is a coin operated washer/dryer available in the basement. Off-street as well as free street parking is available.

Looking forward to hosting you! :)

  • Live like a student for a few days. Seriously, lovely hosts in a convenient but quiet locale.

  • Great place to stay while visiting the Cornell campus for a conference! The location is unbeatable, right in the middle between downtown and the commons, Cornell Campus and College-town. The room itself was basic but comfortable, small but had enough room for suitcase and other items. The rest of the house is pretty nice as well, easily accessible and clean.
The hosts were awesome. They let me know about good places to dine while i was there and were friendly yet professional. When I missed by bus the last day, they were able to accommodate me at short notice for an extra unscheduled evening.
Overall, I highly recommend staying here if you are planning to visit Ithaca. Location, room and hosts were superb.

    October 2012
  • The room was very clean and neat - the bed was comfy as well. I stayed for 4 nights - I wasn't around much though. But the hosts were VERY polite and gracious when I came in. And the location is very close to the Commons as well as Collegetown.

  • Christine was a very nice and polite host, I wish I could have had more time and stayed longer to get to know here better but unfortunately I was there for business maybe next time ;) and maybe you can explain me the whole "folding cubes stuff" you do at the university ;)

anyway I'd definitely recommend anyone coming to Ithaca to stay there :)

  • Christine and her roommates are far more than a host. I really enjoyed staying with them and love to come back.

    August 2012

    August 2012
  • I had a great time at Christine's.
Fell into musical night with talks and fun, enjoying a rare balmy evening in the garden. Christine and her roommates are sweet and smart so conversations can go places.
Room small but clean, shower sufficient, atmosphere great, coffee delicious.
I will definitely book this room again when in Ithaca.

    June 2012
  • The bed is comfortable. The apartment is very clean. The location is great, right between downtown Ithaca and Cornell. The hostesses were friendly and helpful and responded very quickly to my last minute request for a room.

    May 2012
  • The room was clean, warm, cozy, attractive and mostly quiet. (Some traffic noise and lots of birds) The housemates were friendly, considerate and mostly unseen. I had no trouble sleeping in the bed. A great stay for much less than most local hotels. I would stay there again.

Internet access provided, but I didn't use it.

graduate student at Cornell
I'm a grad student at Cornell, studying for my PhD in Number Theory. I've also been a life-long artist. I do a lot of painting with acrylics. For the 2014-2015 academic year, I'll be living with Kelsey and Aaron, who are also grad students in the math department at Cornell, and really cool people!
