The Space

Private room available in two bedroom brand new home located in the historic Locust Grove neighborhood in Downtown C-ville that can accommodate 1 - 3 people. Queen sized bed with a full size sleeper sofa right outside of room. Well-appointed and carpeted with ceiling fan, closet, dresser, private jack and jill bathroom and beautiful art. Note, I have two friendly shorthaired cats that you would have to be alright with. They are strictly indoor kitties.
If renting the guest room, you would share the dining and living areas as well as any outdoor space during your stay.

Located in the historic Locust Grove neighborhood in Downtown Charlottesville, this is a two bedroom two and half bath brand new yet quaint two story house. Plenty of natural light and modern conveniences filled with eclectic furniture and vintage accessories. Please note, two shorthair cats also live here and will most likely be here provided you are willing to feed and love. Not a cat person? Ask me about arrangements, but highly allergic people probably should not read further.
Master bedroom with queen size bed (2), master bath with double vanity, writing desk and walk in closet. Guest room is on the second floor with a comfortable queen size bed (2), a cozy reading area and closet along with a Jack and Jill bathroom with two vanities and a full size tub/shower. The landing is also a nice area to enjoy and spread out into and it has a sleeper/sofa that can accommodate two small kids or an additional adult; there is no door as it is at the top of the stairs so not its own room or as private. The living/dining is in the main area upon entry into the house set up as an open layout style. There is a nice dining table that accommodates four or more with provided leaves; amenities include a 32 inch HDTV, DVD player, several stereos plus turntable with vinyl records available, fully equipped kitchen with blender, juicer, toaster, range/microwave, french press (or coffee maker available upon request) as well as tea accessories, stainless steel refrigerator with water filter system. Free wi-fi, washer/dryer, gas fireplace, ceiling fans in all rooms, central air, artfully decorated, top down/bottom up blinds, large back deck with outdoor seating and grill, front porch with table and chairs and wicker chair and settee. Clean sheets and towels provided, free parking for several cars. Close to Charlottesville's historic Downtown Mall & Belmont area via car (2-3 minutes/2 miles), walking or biking distance too if you have more time, or there is a bus stop 2 blocks from house. Less than 3 miles to UVA Grounds and Monticello is less than 5 miles away--about 10 minutes by car. Perfect place for short-term stay with access to C-ville happenings and restaurants downtown, to UVA or a quick ride to the interstate. Location is ideal as its close to downtown without the hussle and bussle. And for those that enjoy nature, there is a section of the Rivanna trail just a block away to hop onto that follows the river and is an easy and peaceful walk in either direction. Please contact me with any questions. No smoking inside and no pets allowed. Again, I do have two friendly short-haired lovable indoor cats. If willing, you can love and feed them or arrangements may possibly be made. Must not be allowed outside.

Check In
  • This was the first time that we have stayed in a home with a host using Air Bnb and it was FANTASTIC. Cary was the most helpful, communicative lovely host that you could have asked for.

She went the extra mile to help us with our arrangements (arriving by train with a couple of bikes), shared her life with us, and her two fascinating cats.

The room and bathroom were immaculate and comfortable. I highly recommend that you stay with Cary when you are in delightful Charlottesville.

  • Such a pleasure to stay with Cary! Her beautiful Charlottesville home is warm and welcoming. The guest room was exactly as listed- spacious and vibrant with a full private bath that includes his and her sinks. My fiancé and I could not have been happier! The upstairs is fully dedicated to guests, which makes for a very private and suite-like setting. Cary's home is a 5-minute drive to the downtown walking mall and Belmont. Monticello is just a short distance away as well. Cary is a phenomenal host, one of the best we've stayed with! Our communications from the beginning were clear and easy. She's extremely proactive and wants to make your stay comfortable and welcoming. Cary provides her guests with a local guidebook of sites and activities to do. Very thoughtful and helpful! Overall we had an amazing stay! If you're in Charlottesville and want the local experience, Cary's place is a must... she's also quite the cook!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Cary. She made us feel welcome and was understanding and accommodating with our late arrival. Her cats were also welcoming, permissive of our presence, and made us feel like we were right at home. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. The drive to downtown was short and convenient. The morning of our departure, we enjoyed great conversation with Cary. She made coffee and offered muffins and fresh fruit before we took off to our next destination. We would definitely recommend Cary to all our friends!

  • Cary was kind, a pleasure to be around, and a great host. Her place is quaint and artsy. The room is very clean and comfortable with a large attached bathroom. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay while in town, great place and great host. Also, downtown charlottesville is within walking distance, about a mile away: a pleasant walk for morning coffee

  • Cary was delightful and the house was clean, cozy and beautifully decorated. My wife and I stayed for one evening and felt completely at home. Even the neighbors were friendly! Overall we had a wonderful experience for our first time using Airbnb.

  • I stayed at Cary's house almost 4 weeks, working at Charlottesville. It's a really nice house, but more important: she's an awesome host! She is very friendly and easy going, and did all she could do to make my stay more comfortable. I really hope I can meet her again.

  • Cary offered a wonderful stay for two guys just looking to get out and visit Charlottesville for a day and a night. As a host, she hit all the right notes -- communicative from the start; welcoming in her home; and friendly throughout the duration. Her home is tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, and is as-pictured -- clean, crafty, and with plenty of light. You can tell she's taken plenty of time to put it together (though she's only owned it for a short while). The bedroom itself has those same characteristics as well, and the bathroom was huge and immaculate.

Overall, we had a great stay. I hope to come back soon!

  • This is a beautiful home in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was
nicely arranged, clean, and comfortable. Though I didn't meet Cary, her cats are great hosts. Close to the Rivanna trail. Should I visit Charlottesville again, I plan on staying with Cary.

  • Cary is a gracious host.
Friendly, warm and easy to get along with.
Always there to meet your needs.
I liked my stay and would do so again.

  • We had such a fun time staying at Cary's home. The location is ideal, just a quick walk from shops, restaurants, and the Downton Mall. The house is very comfortable and Cary has a great art collection. It was fun just to wonder around the house looking at her paintings, prints, and photos, as well as all the other interesting collectibles she has displayed. Cary is a generous hostess and we had a lovely time chatting with her.

I am an artist/photographer and an adventurer at heart (who doesn't get to travel nearly enough as I'd like). When traveling to new places, I love to live like a local--shop for food, cook, explore cafes and restaurants, and stray from the beaten path. When home, I'm a passionate cook, a lover of things green, a yogi, and an aspiring harmonica player. I live as sustainably as I can, play with my two cats as often as I can, meditate when I can, and laugh a lot.
