About this listing
It's quite literally the closest you are going to get to town and the beach!
Its a 3 minute dawdle to Four Mile Beach (voted one of the to ten beaches in Australia by Trip Advisor) and the same distance to Macrossan Street (the High Street) and centre of Port Douglas (with shops, bars and restaurants).
You will have your own room that almost has its own access being on the downstairs floor opposite the main entrance door. The room as a queen size bed that is in a low style bed (so is different from the photo). There is a small but adequate newly refurbished modern bathroom (shower, sink and toilet). The room leads out to a courtyard where there are a couple of armchairs and a coffee table where you can relax and soak up the tropical atmosphere. There is also your own small fridge, a microwave and a kettle in your room so you can store your own food and have a tea or coffee or heat up any food. The kitchen upstairs is available for you if you fancy cooking. This is not a guest area as such, as I also use the kitchen, so just to bear this in mind (before planning your 14 course dinner).
Being the closest point to the Barrier Reef there are many dive operations for those who want to dive. If you wish to ask me about any recommendations I would be pleased to help. All tours can pick you up from outside - best location to be picked up from is Peppers Beach Resort. The Marina for the boats to The Barrier Reef is only 5 minutes walk away.
It is a 10 minute drive to the Mossman Gorge - the start of the Daintree Rainforest, one of the oldest forests in the world and 1.5 hrs drive to Cape Tribulation, . There are a host of activities for people wanting to experience adventure on land and off land!
I am easy going and have lived and backpacked all around the world with a wide variety of room mates. I have lived in 8 countries in 10 years and have backpacked throughout Asia, India, Australia and Central America. It has been a great way of meeting a variety of people from different cultures and countries.
I am very easygoing, though draw the line at graffiti practice on the walls or added diced carrot stucco wall effect from the alcooholic overindulgence from the night before!
If you are arriving before 10am then I ask that you book from the day before. I have had occasions where if people are arriving early I cannot book the room out the night before.
I Look forward to meeting you!
I am very happy to let people use the kitchen. But due to past comments - this is my area that I live in. As such this is not to warrant comments in the review - you are booking the room downstairs. I also would ask you to respect that this is my living area. You are welcome to use anything upstairs that you wish and eat your dinners at the dining table if I am not there. If I am, please respect my living area.
Interaction with Guests
I am usually in Port Douglas during your stay. Between 8-30 August 2015 I will be in Europe.
Just to be considerate towards other people around you and that really isn't a rule that should be a way that people live their lives.
I am very much into just giving you a key so you can use the house as a second home.
Please be considerate about electricity. Turn off A/C/fans/lights when not in use or when you are going out.
You are welcome to use the laundry facilities - but if it is a sunny day, please dry laundry outside (rack provided). Using the Electric Dryer all day on a sunny day is such a waste of energy and also expensive. Also don't set it on two hour drying cycle when everything is dry after 30mins and you still have it running....... Thank you:)
If you break something, or something isn't working, please let me know so I can fix it for you.
I do have wifi - just ask for details when you arrive. Just to warn you that internet here is erratic and slow!
About the Host, Rosie
I am a professional diver and have worked since 2002 all round the world - Thailand (Phi Phi), Honduras (Utila), Antigua, Grand Cayman, Malta, LA, Costa Rica. I have dived all over the world, but still have my 'wish list'.
I did work for a few years in Sydney back in my 'office' job in Marketing and New Product Development for Cosmetics.
I have my own artworks range (check out (website hidden)) and natural health products , Nature Says No (check out (website hidden)).
I am easy going and having backpacked round Asia and Central America, would say that I love meeting new people.
Life Motto: Grass is always Greener - just depends where you water it!
Very easy going with anybody staying - but draw the line at DIY Graffiti or the new stucco effect wall finish with diced carrots after too much alcohol from the night before!
