The space
**Note: our minimum stay is two nights, though we accept one night stays if surrounding nights are booked or if it’s within 7 days of arrival.**

Built by two Alaskan prospectors in the 1920s, the main cabin is the only cordwood cabin on Mt. Hood. This construction uses log slices in its walls, giving Little Yew Lodge its endearing polka dot exterior. Rough-hewn timber beams maintain its historical allure, while the décor is updated with a vintage/modern feel.

After you're done playing on the mountain, enjoy drinks on the deck overlooking the Sandy river. A grill and picnic table allow for al fresco meals surrounded by 100-year old Doug Fir, Cedar (and Yew!) trees and the sound of rushing water.

Once inside, you’ll want to cozy up on the Chesterfield in front of the original fireplace, assembled by hand with local river rock. Complete the mood by playing a record from a collection featuring everything from jazz and classical to 80’s and afrobeat. The armoire houses games from Jenga to Settlers of Catan. A brand new bathroom with a soaking tub is just off the dining area.

Climb the rustic wooden staircase to the loft where you’ll find books, an HD DVD player, movies, and a flat screen TV streaming movies, news, sports, etc. via Roku. A queen bed serves for sleeping or just more area on which to lounge.

Though there are many restaurants nearby, the kitchen is well stocked for preparing your own cabin-cooked meals.

The adjacent cottage hosts a second bathroom, featuring a rainfall showerhead, and bedroom with queen bed and over-sized goose down comforter.

An inveterate traveler having visited 6 of the 7 continents, I'm also deeply devoted to the Pacific Northwest. Owning two (!) cabins on Mt. Hood as a getaway (and base camp for hiking, snowboarding, cross-country skiing) has been a dream. I love sharing it with others who seek the same type of special refuge.
