Host is an awesome guy we would love to be friends with. Very accommodating and gave specific directions though we still experienced frustration with access at the gate to enter. It was a rough road to reach his place, 4 wheel drive necessary. Room is small but view was fantastic.

This was the perfect place for us to finish our 15-day stay in Costa Rica which included a good deal of moving around on busses and boats and stays in 4 other locations. A very secure mountain-jungle paradise where we could unwind and enjoy the beauty of the nature that surrounds it. The Tower sits on the side of a mountain off a private drive on a gated private finca (estate). There we encountered much wildlife including endless varieties of birds, geckos, basilisks, butterflies, grasshoppers, etc. The magnificent jungle biophony (nature sounds) was fascinating and changed throughout the day (howler monkeys and birds very active in the early morning, different insect sounds throughout the day and night along with frogs, geckos, etc. We took many walks while we were there around the finca to site wildlife and take in stunning ocean views. Our stay included access to the beautiful private beach where we swam and walked daily. The sunsets here where euphoric. The current here can be strong so do take caution when swimming there and watch children closely as there are no lifeguards and very few people on this beach usually. We found our room impeccably clean, aesthetically beautiful in lovely wood & tile with original artwork and also nicely equipped with a fridge, coffee-maker, very comfortable bed, ceiling fans, a wonderful shower with great hot water & strong water pressure, a private deck and screens covering the open-air windows & deck door. Richie met us at VIlla Leonora, the beach club right off the main highway (34) which was very easy to locate. We followed his lead just up the road from there to the unnamed turn-off road that let up the mountain to the Tower. On arrival there, he gave us a tour of the accommodation which included our lovely room on the second floor of the tower with it's own deck; the downstairs deck which is a common area for guests with beautiful wood tables, chairs and a hammock; and the magnificent cool-pool which we gratefully partook of daily. We arrived in the early evening after a long day of travel and he also offered us a cold beer which was right on time. During this nice chat Richie answered all of our questions about the property (which is vast and wonderfully tucked away), it's surrounding finca (estate) and the nearby towns and attractions. We also were delighted to find we had much in common as musical people. During our stay we found Richie very available but also very respectful of our space. He offered use of his clothes washer which we gladly accepted, it was great to freshen our luggage at this point in our journey. Also, when we asked he provided us with a cutting board, knife, a couple of plates and utensils which was great for prepping breakfast (fruit, cheese, bread, etc) and snacks in our room. (2 of the 3 rooms in the Tower have handy kitchenettes but we stayed in the one...

This was the first place my boyfriend and I stayed at and it was our favorite! The house and location were way more breathtaking in real life, pictures don't do it justice. Even though the house is quite a drive up a mountain on a gravel road, it was well worth it. We had a 4-wheel drive so it was no problem for us, but I would recommend that kind of car for all of Costa Rica! The private beach was amazing and was a really nice perk! My boyfriend and I watched the sunset on the beach every night with little to no people around us. Afterwards, we would have a drink or small snack from Villa Leanor-it was perfect. Richie was a great host!! Very friendly and knowledgeable. He took us around his property and introduced us to all the exotic fruits and plants he had growing on his land and even shared some! We will cherish the time we spent with Richie and hope we will be able to visit in the future!

Richie was an awesome host! He is very kind, thoughtful, and welcoming. He recommended a great place to eat and swim nearby -- we had our best food in Costa Rica there. It was a pleasure to talk to him and other guests about everything and anything over food and drink in the evenings. Also, the photos don't do justice to how beautiful the house and the surrounding area is. It's secluded on a hillside facing the ocean, with lush forests all around. We found the area to be great for birding -- we saw nighthawks, wrens, tanagers, and many other birds, including a few fiery-billed aracari. Overall, it was wonderful staying with Richie and we look forward to staying with him again in the future!

Richie was kind enough to pick us up at the bus stop and drive us to his beautiful home. He also upgraded us to his suite a few days before hand when I inquired about a place to cook. His setting is remote, peaceful, and in the heart of the jungle. I especially enjoyed the natural soaking pool during the warmest part of the day. Richie drove me to the bus station to get tickets for the following day, then to a private beach, and returned later in the day to take me back to his place. My daughter was sick while we were there so unfortunately we had to cut our visit short. He provided her with some Aleve when we ran out. He also cut up fresh pineapple and papaya for us for breakfast! He was the best host one could ask for, and if you have to be sick in CR , Ritchie's is the place to be. Bed and pillows are the first comfy ones we've had(URL HIDDEN)

Terrific host, beautiful setting, comfy room. It's about 3 km up a bumpy road from the main highway, which might hinder some people, but we loved it. Really enjoyed the quiet beach and little waterfall.

We had a Great time at Richies place! We stayed up in the tower and we really felt like jungle birds. Got to hear and be right in the jungle each morning and enjoy cooler breezes for sleeping then if we were down by the ocean. The drive up is an adventure too but only a few minutes from really beautiful beaches. Didn't get to see the waterfall, next time. He was a great super friendly host. Highly recommend staying at his place. He greeted us at a restaurant and led us up to his place, offered us cold beer and fresh fruit. We will be back. Thanks again Richie.
