Description

The space

Our property is 1 acre landscaped with fruit trees, flowers, cypress trees as well as 4 100 yr live oaks with beautiful Spanish moss draped branches overlooking the Bayou Teche. We are in the heart of Cajun Country, where Cajun and Zydeco music are world famous. There is so much to do here we recommend a minimum of 2 days to get a taste of the culture.
Our bungalow offers privacy as it is a separate building to our home that stands at the end of a beautiful architectural carport. It is the size of and offers similar amenities of a standard size 375 sq foot hotel room. Although it does not overlook the bayou directly it does have its own private side yard and all guests are invited to use and enjoy all of the property. Kayaks with direct access to the water (at no additional cost), beautiful landscaping and hammocks by the pool and bayou are a few of the things that make this a magical space. Also, for your pleasure, is our beautiful 60 foot salt water lap swimming pool with pergola and outdoor shower that is like an instant trip to the beach. Because we live in the semi tropics, swimming can be good from April thru October.
The cottage is appointed with a queen size bed, good sized work desk/dinning table, love seat, kitchenette w refrigerator, convection oven and coffee and tea makers. There is also a CD player/radio, wifi and cable TV w Netflix and Hulu. There are photos on our site of our travels around the world as well as our massage room that is used for those guests that choose to receive a massage for an added fee.
Continental breakfast fixings provided.
Breaux Bridge is a quiet town of about about 7,500 on the outskirts of and just 7 miles away from the city of Lafayette Louisiana. Lafayette has Downtown Live on Fridays spring thru fall and there is an Art walk on the second Saturday of the month in downtown Lafayette. Randall's, Pont Breaux, Cafe des Amis, La Poussiere, Whiskey River and Vermillionviile are a few of the many venues available for music and dance.
Many antique and junk shops We are a sweet quiet 1/2 mile walk away in downtown Breaux Bridge:
Buck and Johnny's People come from all over the world to dance to live music on Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM at the famous Zydeco breakfast.
Joie de Vivre Coffee and Culture Cafe offers a cajun jam every Saturday afternoon after the zydeco breakfast. Their lunch is fresh and homemade deliciousness. Check out their website for special events.
Other activities include downtown Breaux Bridge antique shops, Avery Island (home of Tabasco 20 minutes way), Longfellow's Evangeline Oak (inspired his poem), Jean Lafitte film of the cajuns, Lake Martin's egrets, herons, alligators, roseate spoonbills and/or a Plantation Tour.
Washer and Dryer available upon request.
Enjoy a weekend getaway. Come see for yourself!
Owners are LA state licensed massage therapists. Trent is available Swedish and deep tissue upon request for an added fee. Trent and Linni both do Polarity Therapy energy balancing and ELAN Lights and/or Gong sonic massage also energy balancing are also available upon request. Call to schedule or ask about this service upon arrival.
Enjoy!

Guest access

all outdoor spaces are available for our guests' pleasure including the gardens, outdoor sitting areas, deck overlooking the bayou, pergola, swimming pool, swing, kayaks and hammock by the bayou and our latest addition of an outdoor shower w warm water for those that enjoy the delight of showering with complete privacy in the sunshine or moonlight. Please note that the massage room is in our home and available for those that choose to schedule a massage for an added reasonable fee.

Interaction with guests

We like to give our guests their privacy but are available to visit with our guests and share stories about travels and interests with one another if they want and we are available to assist or recommend places to go or where to eat.

The neighborhood

We love being by the water and having neighbors that don't fence off their properties which only gives one a sense of greater expansion as if we have more acreage. The neighborhood is quiet with large lots up to an acre and the area was once a plantation called Paradise Oaks so as one looks around the neighborhood one can see these oaks scattered throughout the neighboring yards. The neighbors are friendly but keep to themselves unless one needed assistance....a quiet place to live and visit.

Getting around

Breaux Bridge is a small town so downtown is a lovely 1/2 mile walk away. Most guests have a car to get themselves around the area to get to local music, restaurants and other tours and activities.
We recommend car rental if you do not have your car as taxi's are not easy to get and can be expensive. We do not have Uber yet in the area.
Breaux Bridge is quaint for a 2 day stay. We recommend a car to see other sights such as plantation homes, Avery Island, St Martinville, New Iberia and more. Lafayette is only 7 miles away. That is where there is more music and variety of restaurants and a large mall for shopping for the area.

Other things to note

We offer a Continental Breakfast which includes Coffee, tea, milk, juice, filtered water, granola, biscotti or muffins and fruit.
We do not offer a full kitchen but we do have a small refrigerator for storage and a convection oven in the cottage for cooking or warming up leftovers. with dishes and glass wear for your use along with a coffee pot and teapot. The basic amenities found in a hotel room.
Our newest addition is a wonderful outdoor shower.

Linni and Trent were perfect hosts! They had some good suggestions for local activities upon our arrival, baked muffins (so good!!), and gave us plenty of privacy during our stay. We greatly enjoyed getting to know them over coffee during check-out. Very interesting people. Just about everything in their home is a conversation piece! The guest house we stayed in is adorable. Comfy bed, perfect size for a couple and filled with all the modern luxuries such as Netflix and Hulu (but also books and cds). Kitchen and bathroom were stocked with the basics (way more than you'd get at any hotel!) and lots of information on things to do around town in the guidebooks provided. The outside property was a sanctuary. Of course the hammocks by the pool are great during the day, but do yourself a favor and watch the sun rise over the cypress trees down by the water. I laid in the grass and listened to all the birds and frogs wake up and watched the morning fog roll over water and it was the best part of my stay. This is a special place and I'm so glad we live just a few hours away so I know I can go back soon! Thanks Linni! Thanks Trent! -Ashley + Dan

Wow Ashley! What a lovely review! We love it when our guests fully explore and enjoy the grounds. Your description about the sunrise and my favorite the morning fog rolling down the bayou was so lovely. I've never watched the sun rise by the water so now we are inspired to do so absolutely! Looking forward to seeing you and Dan again soon!

We had a great stay with Linni and Trent. A home away from home, everything we needed was there, and more. The garden and pool were amazing, Linni and Trent went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Watch out for the cat Leo, he sleeps under the car. Or on top of the car. We would recommend anyone to stay here.

We decided to visit Breaux Bridge to experience Bayou country, zydeco/cajun music and food and were not disappointed. Just blocks from old town BB, Linni and Trent's place is beautifully situated on the Bayou. We really liked our self contained accommodation which include some local history books and zydeco cds. Their yard is shaded by magnificent oaks and backs on the Bayou. A kayak trip up the Bayou on one of the kayaks they provided was quite lovely. L & T provided a lot of good hints. Between our arrival on. Friday then Sunday we hit every zydeco or Cajun band in the area. Zydeco breakfast at Buck and Johny's, with a lineup at 8 am was a highlight. Friday afternoon music at the Bayou Teche brewery was another, though we thought the band and dancing level at La Pousierre was the highlight for music. Our favourite meal was on the water landing at Little Big Cup restaurant in Arnaudville 20 miles north of BB (where Bayou Teche brewery is located). The Bourbon salad was delicious. If you are visiting BB for music and a full range of restaurants, it is necessary to come on the weekend as it looked like it would be pretty quiet the rest of the week. To us it was a memorable experience, enhanced by our time at L and T's

We are loyal AirBnb users and we’ve stayed in AirBnbs all over the world, and Linni and Trent's place is by far the best we've ever stayed at! Before we had even arrived they sent us a message welcoming us, offered to update us if the guests before us left early so we could check in early and finally since there was some extreme weather in the area they kept us updated on that. They also recommended a place for live music to stop by on our way there! We ended up arriving pretty late in the evening but that wasn’t an issue at all, not only did they welcome us with open arms but there were fresh from scratch homemade muffins waiting for us, along with fruit, coffee, tea, juice, milk and a couple of local beers! We could park our car under a carport right outside the apartment and the apartment was very clean, updated and fresh. You have your own bathroom but there’s also access to a beautiful outdoor shower and a really nice pool! They had kayaks that we borrowed and they also provided us with a big folder filled with things to do, see and eat in the area! As you can tell, the apartment and the property was nothing but perfect. But what made this stay the best ever were the hosts Linni and Trent! They are so nice, and welcoming, and caring! They were always there to make sure we had a great stay and providing us with everything we might need - bug repellant, water shoes for the kayaking etc. Upon booking we mentioned that one of us was celiac so they wouldn’t have to make us muffins, well not only did they keep bringing us out of the oven hot muffins but they we gluten free and tasted amazing (we asked for and got the recipe before we left)! The last day we were kinda bummed that we had other plans because we really wanted to stay longer! :) We cannot say enough positive things about the place, next time Airbnb make a commercial - this is the place they should be featuring!

Linni and Trent are kind and gracious hosts. They provide the perfect touch, available, but not overbearing - Just Right! From our arrival to our departure they provided what we needed in order to have a bit of a rest before our first child arrives. Take your breakfast and coffee and go sit beside the Bayou Teche. Your stress will slip away as gently as the Bayou moves. Take Linni's suggestion and go enjoy the Zydeco Breakfast at Buck & Johnny's. For a pleasant evening continue to follow Linni's lead and visit the Little Big Cup along Bayou Fusilier. Enjoy the quiet place that Linni and Trent provide to rest and explore a bit of Acadiana.

I am a people person that also loves the great outdoors. Traveling, kayaking, sailing, swimming, Tai Chi, yoga, giving and receiving massages, and dancing are few of our favorite things to do..
We enjoy meeting new people and sharing our beautiful place on the Bayou Teche with travelers.
T is a scientist and LA licensed massage therapist. I am an artist, healer and am a LA licensed massage therapist too.
T and I just built a saltwater lap pool that is wonderful! We are pleased to share this lovely pool with our visitors as well as the use of our kayaks for shorts jaunts on the bayou.
