Our experience at the Harbor Lodge B&B was exceptional. We were pleasantly surprised by how large and equipped our room was, and delighted by the selection we had at breakfast! The lodge was easy to find and we really had no troubles with any part of our reservation.
My wife and I did not like the room and frankly my wife was shocked when I told here it was the most expensive night of our 10 day trip in Ireland. Both of us thought it was the worst room of the trip, and there were some that weren't very good at all, but admittedly cost less.
Our issue was not the location, the view, the staff (wonderful people!), or the breakfast, it was specifically the room itself. To reiterate, all the people who worked there that we dealt with were so very nice and offered everything within their power, however, that's unfortunately where the positive aspects end. The pics of the room looked way better than the actual room itself. While spacious, the accommodations reminded us of summer camp both in looks and in smell. The paint was peeling in places, the floor didn't feel clean, the linens smelled very strange (campy, not fresh - including the pillow cases), the bathroom was moldy, and for some reason the bathroom door was hinged strangely, so that you had to step in between the toilet and shower or in between the shower and sink if you wanted to get to the sink. The double bed wasn't connected to the headboard, so when I sat up in bed leaning against the headboard, the bed pushed away from the wall. The wooden trim was unpainted and unstained, looking unfinished and dirty instead of shabby chic.
From a cost perspective ($166US), as it was the most expensive place we stayed for our entire 10 days in Ireland, including some pretty decent hotels (which were way, way better). I've stayed in hotels in the US that were slightly better for $40US, minus the breakfast.
Would not stay here again.
The B&B was very pleasant and a fairly good location to the main strip in Dingle as it was only a short walk away to the local attractions. The rooms seemed a bit dated and in need of some updating but overall for the cost it was good. Nice private parking lot included was a plus. Breakfast was good and staff was pleasant and helpful.
We booked last minute for a one night stay in dingle and they were very quick and accommodating! The room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was nothing to write home about but it was only a night. The b&b was a quick walk to downtown and the front desk was really helpful with suggestions of different pubs. Breakfast in the morning was ok. It was pretty busy so the staff wasnt super attentive, but it was also free, so you get what you get! Overall, a great spot to stay a nightie two in dingle.
