About This Listing
This apartment is great for families that want to visit New York from a central location, business travelers working in Midtown or Midtown South and shoppers who want to go to New York's best stores, which are just a few blocks away.
This is a classic New York City apartment, a throwback to a bygone era, built before people started getting shoeboxed into tiny units. It is designed to be lived in.
This location is a 5 minute walk from Grand Central Terminal and the Chrysler Building, 7 minute walk to the Empire State Building, 10 minutes to the United Nations, and 12 minutes to Times Square.
It is a one bedroom with a dining nook, large kitchen, bathroom and a well-appointed living room. The living room includes a convertible couch/queen sized bed and is well furnished with new furnishings. So it can sleep four comfortably.
The apartment is very large 1,200 square feet/120 sq Meters in total, with lofted 12 foot (4 Meter) ceilings throughout.
The apartment has all the amenities one would expect from a high-end home. It is outfitted with a full-sized bed, flat screen TV, Ipad/ Iphone Stereo Dock.
It has cable television and a secure and fast Wi-Fi connection.
Though it is naturally very cool in the summer, the apartment has two air conditioning units, one in the bedroom and brand new unit in the living room.
The location is in Murray Hill on East 37th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues. It is a high-end residential neighborhood.
All the City's major Subway lines are located nearby making it just minutes to anywhere in Manhattan. Many high-end hotels are located nearby as are many executive suite hotels.
This residential neighborhood also offers all the necessary retail services including restaurants, supermarkets, drugstores/pharmacies, banks, bars and dry cleaning/laundromats. Because of its proximity to the United Nations, this area is also home to many consulates.
The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom is large and has ample storage and a large in-tub shower. Our guests often tell us that they love our New York City water pressure.

Brilliant location, huge living room and bedroom. More furniture than in the pictures which is good as they don't show the large drawer unit in the bedroom which guests can use, the larger dining table and the second sofa in the living room.
The bedroom is at the back so no street noise, and it was good to be woken instead by exotic bird calls from out the back.
Didn't actually meet Stephan but did chat to his wife a couple of time in person (they live on the fourth floor) and they both checked we were OK.
We'll stay there again if we can.
Stephan's wife met us at the agreed upon time with the key and pointed us in the general direction of a place to get some good pizza for lunch. [We learned later, kind of by accident, that there was much more to offer on 3rd than on Lexington; moreover, some friends pointed us towards Perk Kafe, a great little spot just down the street]. Stephan came by later to say hi and make sure we had everything we needed. The kitchen certainly had everything (other than eggs) to make basic omelets the next morning- i.e., cooking oil, salt/pepper/onion powder, etc. - and plenty of utensils and plates/bowls.
The furniture is laid-out a little differently now than in the pictures but there's still tons of space. Certainly much more than the tiny hotel room we stayed in near Lincoln Center the night before!
I'm accustomed to sleeping in a fairly standard queen bed; the bed in the apartment seemed a little smaller by comparison. There were some spots in the floors that were cracked/soft, but the place is a great value given the location and amount of space on offer. Be sure to wander up to Bryant Park on a sunny afternoon or down to the great playground near the entrance to the Queens Midtown Tunnel.
I have just stayed at Stephan's Murray Hill apartment for 10 nights. It was my first airbnb experience, and it was a very positive one.
Everything went smoothly regarding collecting the keys, and Stephan was very helpful in allowing me a later check out on departure as I had a late flight.
The apartment is huge - the whole floor of a terrace house. It possibly looked a little more worn than how it presents in the photos, but I was very comfortable there.
The hi speed wireless internet connection was impressive.
Murray Hill was a great area to stay in - close to Grand Central. I also took out a temporary membership at the Crunch gym, only a few blocks away on 34th street. It was probably the best gym I had ever worked out at. I also enjoyed exploring local restaurants on Lexington, 3rd Ave, and 34th street.
All in all, a very positive experience.
