This is a room with shared living room and shared bathroom in a 400ft flat. I live in the flat and enjoy meeting global travelers like you. You have a TV and DVD player in your own room with full access to living room and kitchen. Basic amenities, such as towels and toiletries, will be provided. If you are up for an unique opportunity to experience the local culture while being just a subway ride from the hustle and bustle, you will enjoy my flat.
The flat is 5 minutes walk to the Yuen Long MTR (subway) station and a major bus hub. Once you get to MTR station / bus hub, here is what you can expect:
- 30 minutes MTR ride to Central
- 25 minutes MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST)
- 40 minutes bus ride to Airport (one bus and only 15HKD!!)
- 15 minutes bus ride to boarder crossing to Shenzen, China
It's a little bit far to the town but it's convenient to the MTR. The window in the room is big and sun shines into the room every morning. It's comfortable and nice.
Joe Fung is very helpful and showed great enthusiasm telling us where to visit and where is the cheap place to shopping.
He is a very nice host and we are very happy to find such nice place to stay during our trip.
The room is clean and the environment is not noisy. We like this trip and hope to stay next time.
Before writing a review we are very thankful to Joe. We have booked 6night room through airbnb. Joe is very co-operative and amazing host. Stay was in Hong Kong without any problem. We will come again to joe for our next Hong Kong trip.
The place was all right, great hot shower, confortable bed, my stay was overall without problems, Joe was quite helpful as well.
It is perfect if you are coming from the airport and going to the Hong Hum train station. If you plan on the other hand going often to Kowloon or HK island, be prepared for the stressful HK transport system. It does take only about half an hour to get to Kowloon, but the trains are full and you can forget to sit down.
Of course, this has nothing to do with Joe's place in itself, only with its location.
Joe is very generous guy, he provide extra bed to accommodate my whole family. Even in the midnight he brought me to get a SIM card and the wifi in flat is great. My family really enjoy stay in your place. Thanks Joe.
I wouldn't mind staying at Joe's place again.
Had a great time. Joe is an excellent host, and will go above and beyond to show you his side of Hong Kong. He can give you a perspective that you may have never seen, even if this isn't your first time in Hong Kong. I booked two nights with him and one closer to central so I could get both experiences, and I must say my trip would have been a lot less exciting without a stay at Joe's place. I'll definitely be back!
Joe is a really friendly, helpful host, who kindly met us at the MTR station even though we arrived a bit late, and came to help us immediately when the front door broke, locking me out and my boyfriend in! His apartment is very small and basic, but has everything you need, and is easy to get to from the MTR, so it's good value for money considering it's in Hong Kong. The shower is hot and powerful and the bed is comfortable, the two most important things!
A couple of things I would say... the apartment isn't very clean or tidy, and the room is completely bare with nowhere to hang or store your things, and that's the reason I only gave it 4 stars.
On the night that I arrived, I called Joe to meet at the nearest MTR station, which was about 5 minutes from the place. Joe was very prompt and very accommodating to travelers' needs. Because wi-fi was available, you can stay in touch with friends from your country. There are many amenities available, including a washing machine and a kitchen with a fridge, cooking stove and tea kettle. While I stayed there, I felt the building was safe, because there was a guard watching the main entrance on the ground floor.
Joe was out of town when I arrived, so I didn't get to meet him. His sister very helpfully met me at the bus stop (which I reached via inexpensive bus from the airport) and brought me to his apartment. Joe's small, comfy, unpretentious two-bedroom apartment on the eighth floor of an ordinary building in the New Territories is interesting in that it shows how ordinary folk live in HK -- this isn't luxe accommodation: the paint is peeling in the hallway outside. But the room was clean, the location felt safe and conveniently close to the train and bus station across the road, and the price was right. The four stars are to be understood in this context.
