We had a lovely stay at Safak's apartment.
The location was perfect for shopping, eating and sight-seeing and the view is incredible. Safak was easy to communicate with. Thank you.
Okay there may be 80 steps to climb but the view and ambience of Safaks flat facing the Galata tower is well worth it. What a great location it is and in the less touristy area. The apartment has everything we needed, with a comfortable bed.
Terrific experience! Safak was very accomdating, even though we were running very late given traffic into Istanbul. The location is exactly what you see online. You are just steps away from Galata Tower and a great shopping district. Additionally, you are about a 20-25 minute walk from old town Istanbul.
The location was clean and quiet. And he also has good functioning A/C, which we desperately needed given the heat wave!
This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay in Istanbul. The view is INCREDIBLE and being close to such a recognizable landmark made getting home super easy. It was a little warm but we made use of a fan in the stairwell. Speaking of stairs, it's a six floor walk up so be ready for that. Make sure you know how to get the keys when you get into town. We would never have gotten in if it wasn't for some luck running into somebody coming out as we came in.
Great location and wonderful view! We really enjoyed having this apartment as a home base while we explored Istanbul--everything you need is literally just downstairs. We were in touch with Safak from the moment we gathered our luggage and left the airport until a friend of his met us at a cafe by the apartment. He was very responsive and in touch with the cab driver as we arrived to our destination. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept on in an airbnb apartment, which is a definite plus.
My family and I spent 6 days in Studio Galata and had a brilliant time!
As has been said in previous comments, the location is perfect: right in a beautiful, dynamic part of Beyoglu, 5 min from several types of transportation (funicular, tram). Going places from studio was incredibly easy and quick.
The studio in itself is as nice and comfortable as it looks in the pictures. It is very well furnished, anything you might need in a real home you will find: hair drier, washing-machine, iron and its ironing board, toaster... And of course the view on the Galata Tower is spectacular. The only thing we missed was an elevator in order not to have to carry our suitcases up and down the 5 floors!
It was rather easy to find thanks to the indications of Safak on the travel guide, but if you do indeed decide to take the metro and walk all the way to Galata Tower with suitcases, you'll struggle on the cobblestone roads (the sidewalk are very narrow, when not nonexistent). It's up to you to decide if you'd rather pay 20 lyras for a cab from Taksim to the tower!
The square is a meeting place, and the streets are filled with shops and restaurants, which make for quite a noisy environment, even in the middle of the night, but we got used to it very quickly and after one night didn't even hear the call to prayer from the nearby minaret even with the windows wide open!
Safak managed to be a very welcoming, attentive and responsive host despite not meeting him (at least my sister and I didn't get to, but my father did). We were welcomed by Sedef who unfortunately did not speak english (and did not offer to help us with our bags despite seeing our struggle with the steep stairs...) but Safak kept in touch and told us we could contact him if we needed anything.
When a small leak in the roof appeared, he answered within an hour and came to check the AC later in the afternoon. Luckily, the leak was short-lived but his quick reaction showed how good of a host he is.
I'm confident Studio Galata is the perfect place to stay for travelers who like to stay independent, and really cannot see anything that would have made our stay better (even the 5 floors to climb were nothing compared to all he good things the place has to offer)!
I will gladly look to stay there again if I go back to Istanbul!
