Our stay in Istanbul was almost perfect, and this apartment is a big reason why. First off, Safak is very friendly and helpful. He will genuinely try to help you to the maximum of his capabilities if you have any requests or questions. He made us feel very welcome in Istanbul as opposed to the impersonal welcome you sometimes get in ‘normal’ hotels. His recommendations for restaurants in the neighbourhoud were also spot on. Only your own mum cooks better than the people at Galata Kitchen.
As for the apartment, the view and location are perfect. You can see the Galata tower in all its glory from your bed, and you have a very nice view overlooking the small square. The apartment is spacious, clean and well equipped. The shower has very good water pressure, a feature very much appreciated by my better half. When in Istanbul again, we will most likely return to Safak and his apartments!
Safak is an excellent host. Despite our late arrival close to mid-night he was there to greet us and also give us some good pointers on the local sight seeing places. The apartment itself is very convenient and in one of the best locations of Istanbul. Overall, me and my better half thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Staying at this apartment was one of the best things we did during our time in Istanbul. The location could not be more perfect. It's within walking distance to all of the major sites but it's in an incredibly cute, not super touristy neighborhood filled with tiny shops and restaurants and cobble stone streets. And the view of Galata Tower cannot be beat! One note of caution for lighter sleepers and those staying on the weekends: we stayed Tuesday through Saturday, during the week the square that the apartment overlooks is empty by midnight. However on Friday night there were people hanging out and walking around straight through the night. We didn't mind it at all but it could be somewhat annoying to someone who wants more peace and quiet on a weekend night.
The place itself is adorable and perfect for two people who are going to be spending most of their time eating out. We never cooked but the kitchen was perfect to store some beer and wine and a couple snacks. Comfy bed, great little living room area and one of the best showers I have ever used.
Safak was an amazing host. He was literally standing on the corner as our cab pulled up and helped us getting our bags up the 5 floor walk up, again something we did not mind during our stay but could be less appealing to another traveler. He showed us around the apartment and then gave us a city map and spend some time talking with us about what we were looking to do and gave us a bunch of recommendations. All around, a great Air BnB experience!
