Stayed overnight with John when I passed through Albany and stopped to see friends who were giving a concert at The Egg. John was friendly and helpful. The location was perfect: walking distance to both The Egg and lots of interesting restaurants.
TERRIBLE experience! The home was not tidy at all, so we kept to our room. The floor in the room was so dirty that I didn't even want to let our daughter down on it. The bathroom was so dirty that I used our only wash cloth that was given to us (a family of 3) to clean the tub and sink to make them usable. Our night's sleep wasn't any better. The bed was so hard that we felt like we had been hit by a bus when we woke up. The pillows were flat as pancakes too. None of us slept well, not even our daughter who wasn't even in the bed with us. She was in her travel crib. The next morning, we wanted to shower and run for our lives. But, the water ran cold less than 2 minutes into it. Was this some kind of sick joke? We hopped out (to our shared towel) which much to our dismay, smelled like dog urine! Staying at John's house was a worse case scenario that just kept getting worse as it went. We will never stay there again. I have no idea how anyone ever rated the place as positive. It was an awful experience.
This review is misleading and not truthful. Marissa did not bother to mention any problems to me. She absolutely should have been honest enough to point out any problems, which would have been corrected immediately.
I have had over 60 positive reviews and only minor suggestions for improvement in almost 2 years of hosting. If there is any issue whatsoever, it should be brought to the host's attention so they are aware and can work to fix it.
John's place was the best room I have ever stayed with Airbnb! It has its own jacuzzi! Its like a quiet and well organised studio apartment. John was very welcoming and kind as well. I recommend you to stay there if you ever go to Albany!
John was a great host. He was accommodating, informative about the area and flexible with check-in and check-out times. The room was cozy, clean bathroom, great water pressure & comfortable bed. I enjoyed staying at John's house and am looking forward to staying there again.
John was friendly & very accommodating. His lovely home is at a great location within walking distance to central Albany's government complex, making it quite convenient. Transportation (the CDTA bus stop) and dining options (a row of restaurants along Lark St.) are also steps away.
Gorgeous home and great host. Hopefully I will have the opportunity to return to Albany in the future.
