Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • John and Mark offer a lovely and very comfortable room. I was only able to stay for one night but they made me feel welcome and right at home. The bed is extremely comfortable and the room is clean and attractive. One thing to note if you're a light sleeper: throughout my one night, there was a fair amount of traffic within earshot of the guest room. But then, if noise bothers you when you sleep you probably travel with ear plugs anyway.

Before my visit, John provided me with some really helpful information pertinent to my time in town and Mark was a big help in getting my transportation issues sorted out. Next time, I'll plan on staying longer.

  • John and Mark were wonderful hosts who provided a warm and professional stay. If you're lucky, Mark will have some cornbread made.

  • I stayed here for one night in March and had such a lovely time with Mark! The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom sparkling clean with a great soaking tub. I had a good nights' sleep in the bed. Mark met me at the door, made me feel right at home, and made me dinner that night! Cornbread was delicious just as everyone said!

The house is centrally located, with a nice little cafe with free wifi just around the corner.

I'd definitely recommend staying with Mark and John if you're in Albany!

  • John and Mark's place is perfect. The room is large, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub that I didn't get a chance to enjoy, but it's there. The bed was comfortable. The room was warm despite the large windows and very much below freezing temps outside.

John and Mark were extremely nice and accommodating, and were totally flexible with my ever changing checkout needs. They offer a make-your-own-breakfast spread and for a few bucks extra are willing to make either lunch or dinner for you, which I also sadly didn't have time to partake in.

The listing is located no more than a five minute walk from Empire State Plaza making this a perfect place to stay for tourists and people on business alike.

I had a perfect experience. If I am ever back in Albany, I wont hesitate to stay here again.

  • John and Mark have such a lovely home and are wonderful people! It was a great pleasure staying with them in Albany.

  • John & Mark's home is a gorgeous, restored townhouse in Albany, walking distance to the Capitol and restaurants. They are great hosts and it's a true B&B experience. John knows EVERYTHING about Albany plus has great taste, so he's a great guide if you're in need of a few suggestions (if you have time for anything other than business on your trip, unlike me). The ensuite bathroom is large & well appointed. I enjoyed my coffee and English muffin in the morning too. I'll be back!

  • I feel very fortunate to have stayed with Mark and John. The location of the house was ideal for my purposes (an easy walk to the Empire State Plaza, bus stop to the airport, and a fresh juice/smoothie store), the room was cozy, the bed and blanket were incredibly comfortable, and THEY OFFER HOMECOOKED MEALS. For just $10, you get all-you-can-eat dinner (lunch is $6). I came in on an evening flight and it was freezing outside- the last thing I wanted to do was to venture out again in search for food! Convenience and great value aside, Mark is an EXCEPTIONAL cook. I got to try his soup and it was absolute perfection. All the elements in the soup were made just right. Paired with Mark's signature cornbread (it truly tastes like no other), it was like home away from home. I also enjoyed getting to know Mark and John and learning about their story and philosophies. They are both very talented and inspiring individuals with a good heart. They are very friendly and hospitable but fairly laid back and not imposing. They made sure I got to where I needed to go (John took a detour to work so that he could walk me to my occasion) and respected my privacy. All in all, you could really tell that Mark and John put a lot of thought into their AirBnB operation. I would definitely stay with them should I visit Albany again!

  • Mark welcomed my boyfriend and me as family, and he wasn't kidding. He cooked an excellent chili meal (with famously good cornbread), we joined him and John for TV and conversation while it snowed outside, and John took us on a local tour with plenty of cool history info. Just like going to our uncles' place.

The room was warm and beautifully decorated and made for a perfect weekend in on a long winter weekend. Very close to the NY capitol, a picturesque park, and hiking trails just outside the city.

  • We slept for two nights at John's and Mark's and we felt very welcome and at home! Their house is one of these beautiful brick row houses and it is located in a very nice street. The room and the private bathroom are - just like the whole house - cozy, clean and stylish. The breakfast was abundant and included several types of cereals, bread and Mark's homemade cornbread (delicious!!!). They are a very nice couple and we could always ask them for help and suggestions. They even offered us coupons for nice restaurants in the neighborhood. The location of their B'n'B is perfect for having a walk to the center but you will find out that the best neighborhood you'll find in Albany is right in front of Mark's and John's house! We definitely recommend John & Mark's B'n'B!

  • Mark and John are wonderful hosts! The house itself is beautiful and the guest bedroom is super comfortable. They were very accommodating and provided us with the little things we left back home. They also told us the places we should go see during our stay and answered all our questions about the town. Overall it was a great experience!
