A beautiful, warm and clean apartment nestled between the Hudson River on the west, historic Harlem, southeast, Sugar Hill, east, Washington Heights, north, and Columbia University, south, in our culturally diverse neighborhood of Hamilton Heights.
The apartment is located on one of the most beautiful blocks in NYC. It is on the street level which makes it easy for people with stair concerns. It is decorated with comfort and style in mind. The bedrooms are super quiet and have the most comfortable beds.
The apartment is a large 2 bedroom/2 bath duplex completely separate with its own private entrance and with access to the serene backyard garden. There are 2 queen beds, 1 full bed, and 2 twin beds, free WiFi, towels, sheets, pillows, iron and board, hairdryer, and bathrobes. One bathroom has a jacuzzi. The bedrooms have an air conditioner and a TV for dvds. (Small library provided). Sorry, no TV service.
The kitchen is fully equipped with good knives, cutting board, pots and pans, toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, dishes, glasses, and silverware.
The neighborhood has plenty of restaurants like Dinosaur BBQ, Covo, Harlem Public, Trufa, The Chipped Cup Cafe, and Unione, grocery stores (Fairway), drug stores (Rite Aid), Bikram Yoga (Hot), and shopping. The Riverbank State Park is just around the corner offering 2 swimming pools, a running track, a skating rink, restaurant, concerts, and more.
The 1 train is two blocks away, the A/C/B and D trains only five blocks away. The subway ride to Times Square is about 15 minutes. Street parking is available.
Thank you so much and have a wonderful stay in NYC!

Nice rental in a safe location close to the subway. Very spacious and comfortable for 6+ people.
We had an amazing experience at Karen and Norbert's place. The apartment had everything clean and working well, internet, heating, laundry, two bedrooms with very confort beds enough for our group of seven people. They leave in the apartment very useful information such as taxi phone number, NY city guides, reading books, dvd movies, as well as sheets, towels, and all equipments and materials necessary to a home. Besides being located in Harlem, a little far from Time Square, Midtownn, Domntown and Brooklyn, the subway is only 3 minutes walking so we could easily reach the main spots of NY. The neighbourhood is relatively served with a supermarket, few coffeshops, fastfood restaurants and pharmacies. We definetly recommend this place.:-)
The apartment was just as described on airbnb. It was clean and cosy. Everything worked well and it was warm enough. The apartment was near subway and it was easy to find. It was enough space for us, there were two couples of us and also one couple joined us for weekend. Beds very were comfortable. Norbert was very friendly, told us how things work and recommended few places to go. We would recommend this place to stay!
Beautiful and spacious ! This was our first experience using Airbnb and our first trip to New York . We had great communication from Karen and Norbert before and when we arrived. The apartment is just like the pictures , has everything you need and spotlessly clean. We had plenty of space for a family of 4 with 2 adult children . The downstairs bedroom is very spacious and has own bathroom . The area is quiet and we always felt safe , but only a 5 minute walk to the subway and in 15 minutes you're in Downtown Manhattan . There are plenty of local shops as well, including a 24 hour deli , great little coffee shop and restaurants . Riverside Park is just at the end of the street and a nice place to walk . We loved this apartment which had so much attention to detail and would recommend it especially to a family or group of 4 to 6 people.
Karen S. was frustratingly unavailable throughout this process. I had difficulty getting her to respond to basic questions such as confirmation for the space, flight delays which altered my arrival time, and details about how to check out. When she finally did respond, she was rudely terse every time. The space was as advertised, but her demeanor and attitude ruined the experience for my family and me. I cannot recommend her and would encourage all potential guests to look elsewhere. You couldn't possibly find anyone less accommodating or more insolent.
Confirmation of the space happens at the time the reservation is accepted. No guests has ever asked me for confirmation from Airbnb. It is automatic.
Colleen was over the top with texting and calling her arriving time. I did response to her first text but she didn't read it. She said she sent emails which I didn't receive. She said she used the (website hidden) system which keeps track of all emails and none were received there. Four days after her arrival, I received an email about her flight departing late. Perhaps she has a problem with her email server.
Upon arrival it was clear that Colleen has anger issues. She had to tell me she was an attorney as if to put pressure on me.
I ask guests to let me know if they need a late check-out. She never did and on the check-out day she was still there at 1:30pm. Norbert went to the apartment to ask what was happening and she was very abrupt and her husband said "we're leaving". All she had to do was tell me she wanted a late check-out. She was extremely rude.
I normally have no problems like this with my guests. I usually can tell from the first email if I want them in my home. She slipped through the cracks.
