Interaction with Guests
Depends on the day and how life is unfolding at that moment - I will be honest about what is going on for me and we'll take what comes.
I love everything about my neighourhood.
It's been around.
The people have been around.
We're all different and getting by in our own way.
I feel looked out for here and also have a great sense of privacy.
It's super convenient for getting around the city by car and also by bus.
There is a park across the tree lined street and a community green space / garden one block away.
No expectations except to be yourself.
We're all good and doing our best.

Kara is a wonderfully hospitable person, who made our overnight stay truly feel like a "home away from home". The room was quiet, cool and perfect. She graciously shared her living space with us, including kitchen and bath, and we never felt like we were intruding.
Bonus features: a sweet golden lab, a curious cat, and chickens in the backyard!
Overall, a wonderful experience!
We stayed in Kata's house for one night on the way from Toronto to Vermont. The room was very cozy and Kara is a wonderful host. We had everything we needed during our stay. We could park the car for free outside the house. The house is less than 10 min drive from downtown Kingston. Our kids also enjoyed playing with Kara' s dog and cat and watching chickens and bunny Kara keeps outside in the garden. We would stay there again on our next trip.
Kara was an incredibly gracious host. I couldn't have imagined a better experience. Great conversationalist. The animals were a joy to be around and I know where I will be staying whenever I'm back in town.
We had really nice two nights at Kara´s home. The room is clean and comfortable and if you take the bus you are very fast in downtown Kingston.
Thanks Kara for hosting us and the cake was delicious! :)
Kara was a great host, and the stay was enjoyable. I spent two weeks in Kingston at Kara's place. Here are my reflections:
One of the most comfortable beds I've slept on while travelling. No problem getting a good night's sleep. Also the room was spatious. There is a desk that was good for working on. She provided fans since it was warm outside, and the temperature of the room was kept comfortable.
It is a cute, homely house situated in a nice neighbourhood. I liked seeing the garden in the backyard. She offered fresh eggs from her hens. The dog and cats were a plus since I love seeing animals around.
Calm and inviting. Offered me to use her bicycle to help get around. There were no really close markets and my work was about 30 minute walk, so this was definitely helpful. Kara will work with you to make sure your stay is good.
Overall a nice neighbourhood. The one con to staying here was the construction going on near the house.
Host was most hospitable, as others have noted. Despite complications on her schedule, she made arrangements to accommodate ours. Bedroom was clean, tastefully decored -- and definitely 'warm' (it was a bit of a heat wave that night, but there were a couple of fans already in the room that helped a lot). Exceptionally friendly pets --considering we let ourselves in! Neighbourhood was nice and quiet -- though there did seem to be a lot of construction going on, so that might change during the weekdays, until it's cleared. If you're traveling with young kids, and they like animals -- this place would make them happy!
It's quite easy to get to off Hwy 401 as well. Would definitely consider booking again, a pleasant room, and a most kind host.
In the words of Dr. Seus: “For a host, above all, must be kind to his guests.”
Thanks for taking the good doctor's word to heart, Kara.
We stayed only one night, we had a short moment with Kara but she was very welcoming and available. Her cats and dog are very sweet too!
We spent a very good night in her comfortable bed! It was perfect to start a new day in the best way! Thank you!

Home is my favourite place to play and Be - with my children, family and friends - and on my own is good too.
I love colour and light, dancing and music, eating and sharing real food, film, good TV, taking pictures and video on my phone. I sometimes read a lot - not as much as I used to but there are still many, many books next to my bed.
I've traveled some - Canada, the U.S. and Europe - will get to Newfoundland and the Haida Gwaii at some point - these days being at a family cottage on the big lake in Wellington is as far as I need to go. I want to walk there some day soon - biking also on the list - guess I could swim there but don't really need to. Wouldn't catch me running.
My greatest worry about getting to the end of my life is that I will regret not having skied enough.
I am an educator at heart but belonged to the world of film production at one time and miss it. Being a parent the greatest job I've ever had.
