A unique studio that is part of a historic double shotgun-style home just across from the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course, home of Jazz Fest! Enter the completely private suite through your own private side door to the one bedroom studio, complete with galley kitchen and bathroom. Built early 1900s, our home has been completely renovated. Period touches including heart of pine floors, marble, and coal-burning fireplace are complemented by the modern kitchen and bath.

The space
The entire suite is yours to enjoy. You immediately enter into the galley kitchen which is fully equipped should you choose to cook-up your own meals, which then opens up to the studio room with queen bed, coffee bar, table for two, Smart TV, non-operating fireplace, and a lovely transom that lets in the flickering light of the gas lantern just outside your door. The full bath features a beautifully tiled shower, modern glass vanity, and all the amenities you will need during your stay. Entire home protected by Generac Generator (everything electric will work regardless of electrical utility outages).

*Our nextdoor neighbor also has and AirBnB that accommodates up to 4 guests, in case you are part of a group and would all like to be near each other! "Le Chateau du Duke" is very nice as well, and our neighbor also runs a Tour and Travel Service here in New Orleans. It can be found on the internet through JOIEFUL.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire, private guest suite. Rental bicycles (Blue Bikes) are located just a couple blocks downstairs we the street in front of Park Island Coffee House. Most city interests are a bike-ride away and it's a great way to get to know the neighborhoods AND save money on rides!

We currently do not offer any of our home space for sharing.

Like the linens and towels? We have them all saved in an Amazon List! Message us and we will send you the link!

Other things to note
Parking is available on the street in front of the house, as well as just off the street behind the house.

Please provide anticipated arrival and departure times. While we have specific check-in and check-out times, we try to meet all guests' needs. One person's late arrival can be another person's late check-out! We enjoy providing this concierge-style service so that everyone can have the best experience possible on their stay in New Orleans!

Check-Luggage is available for early arrivals and late departures. In the event that you need space to store your luggage, we allow access to the side hall on our side of the house so that you can get your vacation going if you arrive early in the day, or keep the good times rolling if your departure is later than the next guest's check-in.

Our laundry room is also located off the side hall, just inside the side door. Should you need access to the washer and dryer, we will be able to give you access. Please arrange this ahead of time if possible. Our AirBnB tends to be booked every night and that keeps us busy with laundry pretty much every day, but we can work you in, no problem!

Neighborhood highlights

Located just across the street from the racetrack and home to the world-famous JazzFest at the end of April and beginning of May each year! We are residentially part of Fairgrounds Triangle and next to Bayou St. John and Desaix neighborhoods. All throughout New Orleans, houses are in various states of beauty to disrepair. New Orleans has been often called, “the city that care forgot.” There are a lot of reasons for that and we encourage visitors to our city to learn about it’s history. People may forget their cares on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter (or any other watering hole located throughout the small city), but their cares will not forget them and follow them home. New Orleans is a love it or leave it kind of place, but unlike any other you have ever been.

Seahorse Saloon is four houses down, and Gentilly Mart (a small bodega) is just across the street. The nearby opposite corner of the racetrack sports our favorite breakfast spot, Toast. There’s also Jockey Pub and Catty Shack tacos! Located about four blocks west of our corner of the racetrack takes you to the corner near Esplanade Blvd with our favorite small grocery, Cansecos Market and Swirl wines. There are several wonderful restaurants here: Café Degas, Sante Fe, Nonna Mia, 1,000 Figs, Liuzza’s By the Track, and Lola’s.

We’re also closely located near City Park, The Bayou, and many Mid-City attractions while still only a short distance by bike or ride to the French Quarter, Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and Smoothie King Center.

My work: Middle School Math Teacher = Cody; Research & Development Scientist = Leo
Speaks English and Spanish
I'm Cody (left) and with my husband, Leo (right) in our June 2019 vacation photo from Mexico. When we're not on our own vacations, we love to make yours the best it can be! We’re excited to own our first renovation home together in New Orleans. I’m a math teacher and he’s a research and development scientist. We love our home in the 7th Ward! Leo has been in New Orleans since 2008 and had an incredible home in the Marigny on Burgundy. As chance would have it, we met at a house party in the French Quarter in 2016. Having lived all my adult life in St. Louis, I was in New Orleans for the 3rd time with friends and a party with locals sounded great. We crossed paths when we were both talking to the same cute rugby boy from Atlanta and decided we were more interested in each other! The next 3 days we broke the rules of Southern Decadence and spent all the time together! We decided that long-distance was worth a shot when you hit it off this well. We ended up never going more than 10 days without seeing each other in person for the next four months. Teachers are in short supply in New Orleans, so by Christmas we were engaged and I had moved here. We got married exactly one year after we met, in the exact same spot where we met with our closest friends around us. Three weeks later, we closed on this house and began our home renovation. It's been a LOT of work and a long haul, but we love the way our home is coming together! We opened up the rental suite to our first guests in February of 2019. We're really enjoying meeting people! We're both members of the Preservation Resource Center and committed to historic renovations. We've been able to restore and reuse many original parts of this home that goes back over 100 years (still researching the history). For renovation aspects we've settled in the early 1900s, period-wise, but decided that modern kitchens and baths are a must-have. We hope you will love it as much as we do! Other than full-time jobs for both of us, we're typically around home most of the time. We're interested in giving our guests as much privacy as they like, and we're not opposed to making new friends either! Feel free to message us if you'd like to get together for a drink. Welcome to our home. Cheers, Cody & Leo
